I was unaware (until I just read it in Wikipedia) that Neil Geraldo (husband of, and guitarist for Pat Benatar) played guitar on this song! Makes sense... Guitars sound a lot like those in Benatar's music!
I have never heard this song before, but THAT WAS BRILLIANT. Kenny's voice is as soulful as Steve's what a partnership! I wish they could write songs together.
@missmotownrock Steve Perry ego is too big, for him to ever even consider being gay! lol! Really, he's quite a cocky guy, because he knows he can sing his ass off :-) Adam Lambert is channeling (patterning his style after)both Steve and (Freddie) Mercury.
i wasnt around when journey was big but i love 'em as much as anybody can. steve is the best voice ever. kenny compliments him very well too. awesome song!
I believe it was Dennis Leary who said, "Steve Perry. Great voice, no helmet." MTV killed Journey by putting their faces out there. But damn if this song doesn't rock!!!
In the early '80's, I drank two or three vodka and tonics, dropped the top on my Chysler convertible, cranked up this jammin' song on my car cassette player (remember those!?), and went out to party hearty! Great song then and great song now!!!
Nice Post! Do you have any pics of Neil Giraldo (Spyder) playing his guitar in this tune? Underrated guitarist! Thanks for making YouTube a Happier place! :))))))))
This was awesome! They both kicked ass on this song! Steve will always make me smile when he sings. He is just absolutely amazing. Kenny is great as well. Does anyone know if a video was made of this song?????
This song was played on album rock radio back in 1982. Neil Geraldo (Pat Benatar's guitarist/hubby) also played guitar on this song. Thanks for posting!
This is Brian G. Your Friend and Fan of Your Fan Page for Steve Perry on Facebook. I just rated Your Video and You did an Excellent Job and Thank You Very Much for This Excellent Song and Excellent Slide Show.
The pic with fake steve with the purple background at about 2mins 42secs is actually the lead singer of a cover band called evolution don't know the guys name but it's on youtube ! The guy is pretty good but Steve is #1
I've seen an image of Kenny w/o his beard & he looks weird w/o one. I've also seen one of Steve w/a mustache & he looks abnormal when he's not clean shaven. Hope he nevers pulls a Billy Joel or Peter Frampton & grows a goatee (it does however work for both of those guys.) Kenny is a natural w/a beard but Steve is himself when he's clean shaven.
Good observation BudaKang. I saw that photo and your right.
I remember when this song was released and popular on the radio. It was one of my favorites back then. For i am a huge fan of Kenny Loggins and Steve Perry. And I'm awaiting the day he reunites with Journey to make that long awaited reunion album. But I'm not holding my breath. LOL
@HuskyTerritory - I don't think that's gonna happen anytime soon b/c Journey seems very content w/its new lead singer who BTW was discovered here at youtube. I miss Steve w/Journey too but I can accept the new singer considering that he grew up living in poverty. There was a time back in the late 80s when Journey was talking about replacing Steve w/Michael Bolton (Neal, Jonathan & Randy Jackson who played bass on the ROR album helped out MB on his The Hunger LP) & I'm glad that never happened.
@BudaKang - I think it's that dude from American Idol that looks a lot like Steve & starred in that RockStar musical play (featuring 80s arena rock songs) on Broadway last yr. You do know who I'm talking about?
Excellent work, great song, perfect image additions and timing. Liked the 1978 ticket image of Loggins with Firefall - Alex, I'll take AM radio of the 70's for $2,000! Wow...
The crazy one is almost in tears I have not heard this song in so long I totally forgot about it !!! But the memories that come with it.....well they remind me of a lot of things . And their all good!!!! Thanks for posting this.
I saw Steve Perry out hiking with six friends two years ago. What a cool guy. Very short! I walked by and thanked him for all the great music, and told him I had just been singing a song of his. He turned around and shouted which one, and I said "When You Love A Woman." And I went on to say it was one of my top ten favorite songs of all-time. He smiled, turned, and went our seperate ways... Best voice in music!
I LOVE Journey, I saw them in concert for the Raised on Radio tour, they were with Triumph. One of the best damn shows I ever saw. Steve Perry is not only hot but he's one fine vocalist as well! This is a nice compilation of pics, you did a great job on it! kudos!! :)
I saw Journey (WITH STEVE PERRY!!) three times in the early 80's!! Let me tell you that I was SO enthralled I don't remember who I went to the concerts with!!! (wink!) To say they were awesome would be a total understatement!!!!
@calligal55 Totally! I've LOVED Steve since i was a little girl in the 70's.....so glad my brothers had Journeys albums back then....that's when i feel in LOVE! Hehehe!
Does anyone really know what happen to Steve Perry it went from hip to throat. The lead singer for Cinderella had a same throat condition ..repaired, sounds awesome. This song is one of my favorites. My point is Steve should come back regardless of opinion or band if he could.
I loved steve and Kenny together great song. Hi museken, Steve hurt his hip bad while hiking he did not have throat cancer. I read where he said he use to take his mom to the doctors for her cancer, and people would see him there and they assumed he had throat cancer!!!
I wonder if this came about because both voices were on Caddyshack?
