it would be the room should be soundproofed as much as possible to minimise reflections and the mic / cables / mixer (all the analog stuff) including the DAC of the soundcard is of a good quality with shielding. that would produce the best recording. cpu and ram is a non-issue with even a decade old PC as you can plainly see.
the setup was using VST 3.7 but now I'm just running and old version of Cool Edit. Does the job. Cheap. Reliable. Maybe if I get more serious again down the track I'll invest in a Cubase setup but for now it's Cool Edit and some outboard gear via Midi and Cakewalk.
cheers mate im gettin a 2.66ghz processor with 2gb of ram im going to run cubase on it and was worried about having to custom design the computer but if u can create great songs like that with 128mb of ram in happy :)

even the cheapest computers of today will handle a good number of tracks. its the real-time effects that slow it down more than the number of tracks.

how may ghz and ram does ur computer have?
drewdrew16 4 years ago
It was a Pentium 233MMX with 128mb of ram. That setup could easily handle 10+ tracks with multiple effects in real-time.
rsherfan 4 years ago
It only had 128mb ram and it was able to produce that amazing sound? I guess I won't have to invest much into my computer than. :D
