Man, this is probably one of the most epic lessons on SSTV. I've watched this lesson in full length over and over. And I still learn something new every time I watch it!
There's really only three things to know to sing perfectly. Breathing/breath support, vocal fold closure, and resonance. Breath support means there's just the right amount of air for tone, not too much or too little, cord closure is making the tone without strain or weakly where air is escaping or tension comes in, and resonance is taking that pure smooth vowel and coloring it to sound pretty and the exact color combinations that paint the good phrases in singing.
Basically there are two pure vowels, "oo" (like shoe) and "ee" (like peak). There is active and passive resonance coloring. Active is basically in the tongue. If the tongue is flat, you'll get a certain kind of solid tone; if you create a groove in the tongue down the middle (the little line going down the middle) where you can make it dip down thinly, you'll add resonance, and if you make that groove wider, it'll widen the vowel and thicken the sound (try to start narrow and widen after.)
For passive resonance, this is about opening up the places the tone will come into (passively the tone is affected by the open places they fall into.) These are in the chest (completely passively), the throat (which can be opened by releasing all tension & opening the larynx & pharynx), the mouth (via the tongue, cheeks, lips, etc.) the nose (again passively opening up the nasal cavities, not just the nostrils) & head (by creating a vacuum to pull up tone behind the soft pallet.)
I understood half of that. Maybe you should dumb it down a little. haha :( So there are oo and ee. Usually i always sing with my tongue behind the lower teeth, always. So what should i do in order to resonaate? :D
Nice dwarf like viker voice.
