If you like this then perhaps you should check out myspace dot com slash weareonetwo - it's the current project Claudia Brücken (of Propaganda) and Paul Humphreys (of OMD) - fantastic electro pop. :)
As an early 'Minds' fan, this clip is great. Derek is a great bass player. If in any doubt, see 'The American' live on here. I think that's also Brian McGee on the drums.
For something that many thought couldn't be done live. Well here's your answer.
Eh? Utter crap. This track - and performance - is a perfect amalgam of organic and electronic music, and features one of the best synth riffs of the era. I'd also like to ask what you think it's 'derivitive' of????
The 80s was probably the most creative decade when it came to music. Underground was really strong back then. Today, music got really corny. Mainstream really took a bite of out the past and has given us weak artists like Fergie, Jonas Brothers, and Mylie Cyrus. I don't remember the 80's having little kids rule the music scene like today. Proganda was a great example of underground being creative.
@savvybruce I agree with every word, now is not the spark of creativity that was in the eighties, I grew up on the music of so great nostalgia for those day
@savvybruce Your observation is absolutely correct, i remember this group as a difference from the norm but brilliant and now that i am in my 40s i can appreciate a live performance like this even more, was it that we were spoiled back then or is it weak artists are made to sound better now?

+1 to that. Derek is also great on New Gold Dream and Theme for Great Cities from the Taormina concerts. What a bass player.

This crap is just plain awful! It's not creative. It's derivative at best and is about as entertaining as a Kim Jung Il spectacle.

Great one.

That might explain why it's so simple, authoritarian and void of creativity.

I had this exact same recording on vhs, god knows where it is now!
Has anyone got the end where they did Jewel?

Nice one ... I thought I was the only guy who picked up on stuff like that. Forbes was pretty prominent in a lot of mid 80s bands. Great player.
