  • That was totally awesome! Major props to you on this one, man! YOU ROCK!

  • @RyanJohnRadtke Thank you, appreciate it.

  • where can I find the score of this song?

  • @CoDrum93 You'll find that info in the video's description above.

  • I send you the score of this song?

  • @CoDrum93 No thanks, I already "own" the chart.

  • Great but did you choose to play on ride instead of cymbal in the beginning because i also have the music and i was wondering if that was your choice

  • @Mcare232 I played the ride because I didn't realize Mitch was playing 1/2 open hi-hat. I only used the chart for the drum fills, since I knew the song and it's groove having heard it for the past 40 + years and so I didn't pay attention to what cymbal was played on the chart. Thanks for checking it out.

  • great cover

  • @bspringsteen1991 Thanks

  • nice cover, It's Awesome !!

  • @kleykley031 Thank you

  • Oh yeah man OUTSTANDING JOB! It's really important that as musicians we study the music of the greats who have come before us. There are so many fantastic sublties heard in this tune not only by Jimi of course, but by Mitch. Just incredible music! If one is not studying and really listening, you could very easily miss out on an amazing music education compliments these fine musicians. You obviously get this, which is what makes you an A-list drummer in my book. Keep it up. Peace. :)

  • @MusicEd1 Thanks MusicEd, that's very kind and thoughtful of you to comment.

  • Sweet man. love Hendrix. Great drummin as always

  • @CHAPAPA96 Thanks

  • Daaaang! Mitch was a jazz drummer, so pretty much everything he played swung at least 50-68%. You nailed it. Love your dynamics and feel, especially with the kick.

  • @bourgeoisbrats Thanks for your well-informed comment. Yes, Mitch was that, influenced by Elvin Jones.

  • Very nice fill at 0:56, cant get that one done.. :(

  • @DarkElement1987 Thanks. It's basically a 6 stroke roll. If you could play the fill at 1:41 you certainly can play that one.

  • Great work !!! Fantastic to see and hear you playing !

  • @staafken007 Thanks

  • Probably one of my favourite songs to play on the drums!! Great job!

  • @88rain Thanks. Yea, it's a classic. Appreciate you stopping by and checking it out.

  • @TheBluSimR Thanks. Well for this cover I did.

  • love the sound of your drums in this video, and truly exceptional drumming

  • @cdblue99 Thanks a lot. I tweaked a Mitch Mitchell kit setting from Addictive Drums' ADpak-Retro.

  • at last i saw Mitch play by watching your videos.....i dont need to turn on my music pod just listening to your cover is good enough for me...all the music i want to hear most of them you covered...keep it up maestro....!!!!

  • @ericvillanueva60 Thanks, you are very kind, I appreciate you sharing and glad that the covers serve you.

  • awsome cover!!

  • @TheHanHyoung Thanks.

  • Oh yes!

  • This is an awesome drum cover! Nice chops!

  • @TheGreyKnightXx Thank you.

  • This Is One Of Your Best Covers Yet Sal....Awesome!!

    Al

  • @IdolXfactor Thanks Al. A lot of effort went into getting Mitch Mitchell's parts down. Thanks for stopping by.

  • Well Done!

    JJ

  • @MrJJsDrumTV thanks JJ

  • Hey remember how I was talking about singing drummer songs? Well I thought of a few more that would be awesome for you to cover with drums and vocals, like you could do a singing drummer series of vids. All these songs are sang by drummers

    What I like about you

    Yellow submarine

    black diamond

    hooligan

    hotel california

    i wanna be your man

with a little help from my friends

follow you follow me(phil sang and drummed at simaltaneously during there 2007 tour on that song)

  • @therailwizard1994 Hey thanks for putting together this list of drummer lead vocals. I covered A Little Help From My Friends, though not on vocals. I'll consider it, thanks again.

  • @rhythmantic oh your welcome, i love your vids, they really help me with my drumming

  • Great job, sounds fantastic you hit all the fills, and played the time perfect, love the way Mitch played and I think he was one of the best players of the late sixties.

  • @33PETERPAUL Thanks a lot. Yes, I agree. Mitch and Jimi were a perfect match. Mitch played with funk & jazz chops with a rock attitude, very different for it's time, it had to be because Jimi's music & playing were innovative.

  • no shoes --> no stress --> very nice work !!

  • @picpic25 Thanks, appreciate you checking it out.

  • nice

  • cover swingtown by Steve Miller band!

  • @TopTenCrew I covered that song 4 months ago, check it out.

  • @rhythmantic

I really should use the search button and stop assuming things...

Can you consider covering What Goes On, Glass Onion, or Helter Shelter by The Beatles?

  • @TopTenCrew I won't be doing covers for a while as I'm working on tracking drums for a client's upcoming CD. I did start work on Helter, and might consider Glass Onion.

  • @rhythmantic

    ah okay.

  • You should cover some KISS songs that would be pretty cool, great videos

  • @JoeyLoganoFan20 Thanks for watching and commenting. I'm not a KISS fan and when they came out and were at their peak of stardom, me & my fellow musicians couldn't take them seriously and I was listening to jazz fusion groups such as the Mahavishnu Orchestra, Return To Forever, Jeff Beck, and funk groups like Tower of Power, and progressive rock bands out of Europe like Genesis, Gentle Giant, you know, bands that had musicians as opposed to entertainers. Thanks again for checking out my vids.

  • nice work!

  • very very good.... fantastic

  • @TheBatterista1997 Thanks

  • Love your videos man, you're a great drummer and you listen to some great music. It'd be awesome to see you play Foreplay/Long Time by Boston or The Spirit of Radio by Rush. Those are two great drum songs.

    Peace.

  • @skeletor1031 Hey thanks so much. Appreciate you watching this video and for your kind words. Yes, both of those songs are on my "to cover" list. Thanks for your sub.

  • Flippin SUPER!!

  • @sbbinahee Right on Paul, thanks for stopping by and checking it out.

  • Spot on! Loved it! You captured the spirit of Mitch greatly! Rock on ~ Dice~

  • @Dicedrum Thanks Dice. Yea, the spirit of Mitch.

  • u rock what kind of drums do u use

  • @MrFunnymanproduction Thanks. Checkout my channel page "About Me", for that info. Thanks for watching

  • Sal, you are smokin' on this one. Love it!!

  • @SQDLVR Thanks so much friend.

  • very nice! where did u get the notations?

  • @mymodemsux2 Thanks, From Hal Leonard Drums Play Along publications. The chart was very accurate and save me the time to transcribe which can be laborious.

  • Wow !!! That was an incredible cover Sal. It is very cool that you put in the work to play the cover so closely to the original. It is one of the tunes that I have not seen played properly by studying the charts as you did. All the covers I have seen were winging it (including mine) so this was very educational for me. You are an awesome drummer my friend !!!! Truely awesome.......Nick

  • @readyeddy101 Thanks a lot Nick for your very observant, kind & encouraging comments. Yes, the covers I checked out were drummers approximating what Mitch was playing-which isn't necessarily a bad thing, I'm all for that- but this was a song I wanted to capture as close as I could what Mitch played. Which was a bit difficult doing on edrums, the snare had to be hit just right to get it to trigger the rim. A lot of time was spent analyzing the fills. Thanks for watching & for your encouragement.

  • I guess I don't have Anything I Jimi,But great Playing as Alway's Sal.

  • @MrHideyoursheep I meant Anything on Jimi, But I'm not a singer and have No Desire to Be one.Jimmy Page is more my Stance.

  • @MrHideyoursheep Thanks James.

  • You rock the house my men!

  • @rcapizzano Thanks.

  • Beautiful

    Congratulations from Portugal

Is always a pleasure to see you play drums

  • @KarateDrum Thanks, I appreciate you checking it out.

  • Where did you find sheet music for Jimi Hendrix at anyway? As everywhere I've looked for sheet music, has only had mostly Led Zeppelin or The Beatles.

  • @GearsofWumbology Same place you would find it for the groups you mentioned: Hal Leonard Play-Along for Drums series. It's Jimi Hendrix's Smash Hits, or some title like that.

  • @rhythmantic Ok thanks. Oddly enough I haven't seen a Jimi Hendrix Play-Along book yet, but I will be sure to find one ASAP.

  • Might be your best cover yet!

  • @EaglesStir Thanks, I did do quite a few practice takes and also spent time analyzing and practicing each of the 28+ fills and the groove patterns. Thanks for watching.

  • new camera angle~~

    It's cool!

  • @shizuku0815 Thanks

  • Simply amazing Sal

  • @robjking1 Thank you Rob, and Mitch was an amazing drummer, a big influence on me.

  • Seeing you do this (and VERY WELL, I might add) makes one realize what an absolutely amazing drummer Mitch Michell was. To think someone could come up with this part, rather intuitively, in their early 20s... wow.

  • @danakerman I agree wholeheartedly, you put it well. An amazing drummer was Mitch. I just loved and still do his drumming, you just don't hear that kind of playing or music today, though there is some amazing drumming going on these days.

  • Great Cover !

  • @Acustom997 Thanks

  • srsly great playing!!

  • @thepatient678 Thanks

  • Spot on! I wish my roland kit sounded like that.

  • Great. I would like to play it as well as you do :)
