Thank you everyone for the comments. Tim, I like the idea of the 50/50 rule (not sure I've ever lived it, but it sounds smart). I also like the Buddhist concept of "Do no harm" (which is a universal thing, yes?) --but as a business practice, I've turned it into "Do no harm and do extraordinary, no, shocking amounts of the best work you can do for the best reasons." That's my favorite way to do business.

I agree great down to earth advice. One other thing about earning money is what I call my 50/50 rule. Most business owners/ self-employed people calculate the amount of money they will earn based on 8 billable hours per day and wonder why they fall short every month. The 50/50 rule means that you need to make a full salary off of 4 billable hours (or in are case class time) and use the other 4 hours to fill the client funnel (read as marketing).
