@Asho66669 I think this should answer your question:
/watch?v=jeTxQuRa2UQ
In essence, they use a freewheel(it is probably more complicated than that, but you kinda get the idea) in the front hub, if you need to lock up your back wheel, the front can still turn and steer. If you lock up the front wheel, any pressure also applied to the back wheel should not really affect handling. You don't usually stay up long with a locked up front wheel anyway.
Best version I've seen so far. And if you can turn it on and off, that makes it very versatile. In racing situations there is always the driveline loss and weight issue, but for recreation, its just depends on whether you want to pony up the dough.
bike off roading will never be the same again. just like when Audi introduced Quattro, the first AWD system in road car in 1980 in WRC (world rally championship). Audi Quattro smoked all other cars in the race. since then, AWD/4WD is standard; 2WD, forget it
having awd in a streetbike would not make it any faster if anything it would make it slower because it robs hp from the rear wheel. all it does is improve traction in low traction settings as shown. there is no reason for it to be on a street bike and it never will be. and where do you see a car ever beating a bike, and where did you see a corvette losing to an awd?
Because the added cost isnt worth it. Powerful bikes will still wheelie dangerously with so little traction and shitty bikes will still crash. We will see it on the road someday, but its never going to be the definitive bike technology. That will always be 1wd.
I think an AWD dirtbike is a good idea but it takes the challenge out of hill climbs and woods riding. Its kinda like video game cheats. It makes it no FUN
I agree to some degree, but it's the evolution of dirtbikes, just look at the bikes from the sixty's, the suspension bikes have today compared to the old bikes are so different it might as well be called cheating.
while it makes certain things easier, it also makes certain things that were almost impossible before possible now. like snow riding, or deeper mud riding, or certain hills. so in that respect, don't look at it like it's made current obstacles easier, look at it like it's risen the bar on what's hard
I can't wait till a street rider or someone with the cash and balls to do a never ending stoppie...!!! That's going to be so sweet...!!! Should make one for a street bike to be used at stunt shows?
@VittoIB that could only be true if the 4wd has a way to disengage when the brakes are applied. Otherwise both wheels are mechanically tied to the same engine, and each other. You slow down one wheel, you slow down both.
There are ways to accomplish independent braking, but I think they person was asking if that was considered when designing the system.
Hade a chance to ride it. Bike makes hill climes and mud bogs with ease. Not much effect on steering because front wheel is limited to 80% of rear travel.
You can engage and disengage the AWD so I guess when you are on-road, you would have the system off. Not that you'd be doing much riding on-road with a dirtbike.
gotta stop puttin those feet down...

Perfect for the Border Patrol. Where the term of it can GO EVERYWHERE specially on sandy desert is well defined.

if this becomes as big as becoming an option. i would stick to the rear wheel drive.

this is crazy but yea it costs alot, my cr500 would be amazing with the AWD system but yea i dont know if its worth the cash

There are a lot of parts needed to make this happen. It is impressive but expensive. Some of the winningist enduro riders do not use 2wd.

How does it get the power to the front wheel? Through one of the shocks?

bigdogs32 2 years ago
why not?....
u wouldn't see any more awds beating corvettes, and on a bike u would never see a car beat a bike again
