PLEASE remake & release this . I always LOVED this & it was my favorite Christmas short along with Frosty the Snowman being a close second .I miss it TERRIBLY SO .I want my kids & grand daughter to enjoy it too .
this is a vary cute movie super happpy my mom wanted me to watch it why cant they have more kids movies like this out now a days?? oh well thanks for posting this:)
I remember watching this w/my 2 young children, youngest was born in '82 so we must have watched it in the 80's. I loved it and never saw it after that. I'm new to YouTube and I've been finding lots of good "oldies", I was overjoyed to find this. I have remembered the song "oom-pa-pa" all these years, was singing it and that's what prompted me to search for this. Thank you SO much, I would definitely buy it if it were on DVD! I hope you can do that!
This is a great program from that timeframe. I remember it from 75/76 as my family moved from CT to MI in 77, and I remember still being in CT, but I don't think it was ever on when I lived in MI. I've often wondered what ever happened to this program. If it ever comes out in DVD, I suppose I would have to get it for my grandchildren when they come around. My kids are all too old for it now.
This show was broadcast nationally in 1975/76 but was shown again several times into the early 1980s locally in LA and several other larger markets as well. I'm looking into re-releasing it again in an updated and digitized format for home distribution. This may take some time. Note: The characters were developed by Hallmark Cards artist Louise Schmidt. My father wanted someone "outside" of the Hollywood animation scene to create characters that were original.
@chasc54 If "The Tiny Tree" ever makes it to DVD, i'd like to see extras on it including a tribute to Roberta Flack, a tribute to Buddy Ebsen, and a tribute to Johnny Marks.
I have always liked this Christmas cartoon. I remember as a child having an audio version of it on cassette tape that I had taped from the TV Special. It is really a shame that a show as timely and as meaningful as this one was could not be brought back.

I've been looking for this for eons! Thank you for posting it. I haven't seen it for about 30 years maybe more. Almost thought it was a figment of my imagination because it's so hard to find. Thanks again!
I think my Grandma had a copy of this Special on Video, but I did not know that this was produced by the same people who worked on The Pink Panther cartoons
They use to show this holiday Christmas cartoon in the 80s on KTLA Family Film Festival along with Santa And The Three Bears. They are nice heartwarming cartoons that were really well produced. I've seen a 16mm film print of this cartoon for sale on e-bay for 20 bucks that never sold.
This was written, produced & directed by my father Chuck Couch in 1975 as a Christmas special sponsored by AT&T and broadcast on NBC in 1975 & 1976. It is not public domain. All the artwork - inking, painting etc. - was produced by him. It's regarded as the first TV animation to include a child with disabilities.
Why has "The Tiny Tree" never had an official home video or DVD release? It's a wonderful Christmas special and deserves so much more than just to be another forgotten holiday cartoon.
I loved this holiday special too! For some reason, I started thinking about it a couple of days ago and asked around if anyone else remembered it. No one had a clue what I was talking about! My main problem was that I did not remember the name of the cartoon. I am so thankful to the Internet for making it possible for me to figure it out and also thankful to You Tube and the person who uploaded it! I consider myself very lucky at the moment!
As interesting as I find your comments, there is one thing that I have question about. I seem to remember this broadcast later than 1976. I am pretty sure that it was on at least until the late seventies. Maybe it was only broadcast locally and 1976 was its last year to be broadcast nationwide.
Was the turtle voiced by the same guy who did Gargamel?

Was he working with th pink panther before? the style looks pretty similar
SilverZeruel 2 years ago
The animation style is similar because both the Pink Panther cartoons and The Tiny Tree were animated by DePate-Freleng.
BobHershey 2 years ago
Oh, thank you.
By the way... can it be found in Spanish here on youtube?
SilverZeruel 2 years ago
Sadly, no...as far as I can tell, my posting it here on YouTube is the only place on the internet where anyone can see it.

probably is public domain or at least lost in Saban or Disney's library in a vault so how did you get it?
