@Kaeden728 Mostly depends on your motherboard. If it supports SLI, then you just need to meet the power requirement. You can look it up at Nvidias site. But im thinking its around 400W for a single 550 for SLI for the 9800GT. You can only SLI on a Nvidia chipset though. It will not work on Intell x38,48 for example as only crossfire is supported.
its all about preference, i have the m1730 x9000 processor and dual 8800 gtx's and 4gbs ram, and i can run 1920x1200 crysis at stable 40fps with edited very high settings, which is good for a laptop, the old m17 struggles with crysis on high with max res, m1730 is also easily overclockable so u probs will get better game performance form the m1730
lol dude ur triping out i run this fine at 35 to 55 fps in my old pc with the same card... i dont twick around with the settings i just set deffault and it sets them to games spec...anyways my specs are intel pentium dualcore proccesor e2220 2.40 ghz with 4 gis or ram and 500 gig hard drive... although in my new system i run this at 150 to 160 fps.. scpcs of new system are... x58 motherbord core 7i 975 and dual 9800 gt.. this card need the right system to ryn at max pottential.. good vd though
theres a way to fix the fps issues with fraps. u need to set the recording cap above 30 fps or else this is the result. but ur right it does run super smooth on the 9800 gt. its a great little card that doesnt get all the credit it desrves
i'd like to know what your av. min. max. FPS is if you dont mind.
You'll find some benchmarks in the "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis\Bin32 " folder, run that wait till it stops and give us the av. min. max.
exactley and when u but the new m1730 from dell u have the option of have the AGEIA physx card built in since this laptop happens to have the nvidia vid card built in
just ordered dell m1730
T8300 2.4ghz
2 x Nvidia Geforce 9800m GT SLI
only downside of the laptop was 2GB ram, but easy upgrade to 4GB, so dont bother me
can i play it with 2GB or can it handle some other games like ARMA2 ?
thx
mataleo27 8 months ago
@mataleo27 It's better to order it with less ram, since its cheaper if you order it yourself seperatly. Thats what I did with mine.
I would upgrade to 6 gb if I were you. Thats all you need. 2gb will quickly run short, at least with vista or win7
henrikns 7 months ago
@henrikns yeh, belive it it works just fine with 2gb ram, on full details, i can play no problem :)

You can also improve the performance of the FRAPS recording if disable the sound recording feature in FRAPS
