  • You have the best videos I have seen. Your videos make me want more apple products. Thanks keep them coming

  • other than the optical drive missing is there any difference between the 2010 and 2011 mac mini? if not id rather save $50 and get a refurbished 2010 mac mini

  • @brickman409 Thundebolt and the processor at 2010 is core 2 duo and 2011 is dual core intel core i5 so 2011 is more fast

  • @BRUJ012675

well either way apple just stopped selling refurbished 2010 mac minis yesterday so I couldn't buy one even if i wanted to

  • @brickman409 if i was you i would take the new one,is more important the processor and graphic card than a simple optical drive, now with mountain lion a lot of MacBooks, mac mini and iMacs will be discontinued and more old is your computer you will have to update more soon..i won't be surprise if the 2010 will be discontinued in 2 or 3 years more

well i may be wrong but i think that way

  • WTF is an IR sensor

  • @150rbaby1

its the sensor for a remote

  • Hould i buy a mac mini with the cinema display, or an imac? I need it just for movie editing and after effects

  • DetroitBorg, please answer this question; but what is a Mac mini?

  • Should i get this or a macbook pro that is attached to a moniter?!?!

  • I am thinking about buying a mac mini like the above, can anyone tell me a good monitor for using this with, I will also use the monitor for light gaming on xbox 360 so 1080p preferably. Size wise 23" - 27". Thanks!

  • @H3LL0W0RLDMC The Dell Ultrasharp series is often regarded as among the best, and they are among the few to include DisplayPort.

  • @H3LL0W0RLDMC The Dell model I would recommend is U2311H, which is the 23" model at about $300.

  • @DetroitBORG I'll check it out. Thank you for your response. Keep up the great work!

  • @DetroitBORG I'd recommend a G4... I love them, or Powermac G5.

  • @H3LL0W0RLDMC i dont think you should buy a mac mini now cause i assume apple is gonna release a 2012 version this summer

  • I could build this PC for $200, pay $30 for the OS and include an optical drive.

    /AppleFail.

  • @TheStatisticalPizza but the os wouldnt run on a pc

  • @TheStatisticalPizza You won't have a mac mini, you have a hackintosh. Your labor and customer support is free because you have it to spare, most people don't.

  • @DetroitBORG I guess I see the point, just wish they brought the price down $100 or so.

  • @DetroitBORG Hackintosh's are illegal too aren't they?

  • @DetroitBORG And it doesn't look as pretty, but I have a hackintosh and it's better - I have 32GB of RAM and overclocked to 4.2GHz.

I have time to spare :)

As for the nice Mac Mininess, get a chassis to keep on your desk from China.

  • @TheStatisticalPizza That is because PC's are shit.

  • @InUrfacetoast Really?

That's funny because they use the same hardware that they use in a PC that only costs half the price.

  • @TheStatisticalPizza Computer hardware is only as good as the software thats running it. And if you serious about hardware, you have to be serious about software as well in order to have optimum performance. Thats why PC's cost half the price.

  • @InUrfacetoast

If what you said is true, then why would I buy a Mac if I can build the same computer for half the price, and then pay $30 for the software it comes with?

    Last I checked, Lion OS isn't $250.

  • @TheStatisticalPizza Running Mac OS natively on PC hardware is NOT possible. You would need an emulator. And it would not be a quarter as good as a normal Mac running OS X.

  • @InUrfacetoast What?

Google "hackintosh" and as I've said before, Mac's and PC's use the SAME hardware except the display.

  • @TheStatisticalPizza Re-read my reply to your comment before (The one about needing an emulator) . You just made yourself look like an idiot. If you have to read it slow to understand it then so be it. However, if you still do not understand what I said, ask your mommy to read it to you and explain it.

  • @InUrfacetoast You are retarded.

You do not "need" an emulator to get Mac OS working on standard hardware as a Mac runs on the same hardware as a PC but with a fancy case and a better OS.

I'm done arguing with you, you clearly fail to understand the concept.

  • this doesnt have digitial optical audio out wtf? haha

  • @fightingmexican707 Yes it does, it's integrated into the 3.5mm jack. It's a mini optical jack.

  • Can you do a give away please :D

  • @xYogurtCast While I won't be giving away a Mac, I will be doing a giveaway soon.

  • No optical drive yeaah great!!!, so tell me apple geniuses what should I do with all my non imported audio cds if I want put them in my itunes library?

  • @SpaceMarauder You can purchase the drive separately, or borrow one from a Mac or PC on your WiFi Network.

  • I want to buy this one in $799 because 3GB of RAM is best for gaming (i heard). Please send me your suggestion DETROITBORG. :)

  • @5876mg Although you can game on the mini, the standard configuration has integrated graphics and I don't recommend that one if gaming is your main purpose. Instead, I would go for the next step up, the 2.5ghz i5 with the AMD 6630M. Hope this helps!

  • @DetroitBORG It helped. Thanks. So Im going with the 799.

  • cool.really i didn't know about features of mac mini

  • incredible !

  • hey can somebody tell me, what does Mac Mini actually do????

  • @MsDafiduck Apple's website>Mac>Mac Mini>Tech Specs and/or features. Easy?

  • @MsDafiduck its just like an iMac the only difference is no monitor

  • @MsDafiduck It's a desktop computer, you have to supply your own peripherals like a monitor, keyboard, and mouse. In my case, I hooked it up to an HDTV.

  • @MsDafiduck It's a computer?

  • @MsDafiduck Its computer u dump fuck.

  • Hey lolz !!

  • You have a Polish name?

  • @MefjuOMG123 I do indeed.

  • optical audio out is incorrect. it's just a standard 3.5mm audio jack output.

  • @DanceFloorJunkie glad someone spotted this also.....

  • @littledooo The 3.5mm jack is also a mini TOS-link connector, optical is integrated and you just need the right cable/adapter to use optical.

  • @DanceFloorJunkie The 3.5mm jack is also a mini TOS-link connector. Apple has been using this for years.

  • Can it connect to iPhone 4s?

  • @mkburnett62 Absolutely.

  • Can this be connected to a laptop comp?

  • @mkburnett62 In what way, using the laptop as a display? Nope.

  • i can see this overheating

  • @ZulfurGaming It does't, it's more spacious than a Macbook, which is the same hardware in this box.

  • For a home theatre which is better this or apple tv?

  • @benicellguy this for sure, because you can illegally download loads of 1080p films and other media from thepiratebay or other websites and store them on the 500gb hardrive! this is a no brainer!!

  • @benicellguy The Apple TV is easier to use, and now OSX Mountain Lion supports AirPlay Mirroring to the Apple TV which means you don't need a mac dedicated to your home theater. The content available on the Apple TV is more limited than what you can get can get on a Mac mini, but I Netflix+iTunes covers just about everything I care about.

  • @DetroitBORG Yeah. Currently I have a Sony VAIO the VPCF2 and currently I have it connected to my tv via HDMI. The problem is that when I want to watch a video and edit at the same time it would lag a little bit, but I still like my laptop. But I think the Apple tv is more simpler for a home theatre setup because I have an app where I can use my iphone as a mouse to control my computer without getting up, but it's still a hassle especially when I'm on the iphone 3G and disconnects from wifi.

  • @benicellguy I forgot to mention the computer is the F series. Sorry.

  • this thing is sexy

  • u just earned a subscriber :)

  • @foirem Thanks! :)

  • how can you restore from a partition if your hard drive failed?

  • @jango1968 You can't, but you can restore from Apple servers. This is called "Internet Recovery". Keeping in mind however that the mac mini's hard drive is difficult to remove so you are likely to end up at Apple anyway. However, if you do if you replace it yourself, hold "CMD-R" upon restart and you will have the utilities you need.

  • thumbs up if you have apple stickers

  • Ch dt

  • Can this play Minecraft lag free?

  • @TylerKG123 Yes.

  • i dont get it what does this do

  • @liljazy2423 its a mac computer but you have to get your own keyboard, mouse an screen

  • Dude where can I get that awesome wallpaper?

  • @TephlonFunk Thats the freaking default Mac OS X desktop picture retard

  • @TephlonFunk It's the default wallpaper for Snow Leopard, Google Mac OSX "Aurora".

  • @TephlonFunk Whoops, I mean this is Lion's default wallpaper, so google Mac OSX "Andromeda".

  • @DetroitBORG

Is it neccesary to connect to have an apple mouse or could I just use an optical USB mouse ?

  • @mattsydal10 You can use any mouse, even if it's a ball one. I'm using an ASDA (Supermarket chain in the UK) Standard Portable Optical Mouse and it does the job fine, it's only a cheap one so I'm going to upgrade soon ^^. - Mac Mini Owner

  • wow

  • I almost bought one. As soon as they include 4gb ram and dedicated graphics on the base model I will snatch one up.

  • Great Mac and video

  • 21 years old and still excited about stickers lol apple releases my inner child

  • if you put a mac mini to a macbook pro does it combine or replace the hd graphics and gigs of ram on your macbook pro

  • Nice video thanks for posting

  • do you know if it would be a ok/good enough computer for making music?

  • I miss Steve Jobs :(

  • Thank you from Italy!

  • I recall the same type of people whining that the original iMac had no floppy drive. A few years later, most computers had no floppy drive.

The MacBook Air is one of the most popular computers today. It has no optical drive. It is being copied by Windows PC makers. A few years from now, most computers will have no optical drive wasting valuable internal space.

FYI - Apple does support using optical drive. They are no longer built-in in some models.

  • what can the mac mini conect to like a computer screen ?????

  • @APPLEFANBOY2424

    wow ur a crazy fanboy....

  • @tettentettentetten App development, because you can only develop with a Mac and this is the cheaper one

  • @LimadjnoPC I want to transfer several my apps to be ready on Mac mini. But still a little hesitated. Wonder the market of Mac mini.

  • @LimadjnoPC that's right :p

  • I wanna buy this and the ipad 2. Is it good for gaming performance and speed?

  • @ZeBron23 I LOVE my mac mini, but I upgraded the ram to 8gb and I use it for gaming and recording.

  • People get this computer because of torrents. No need for optical drives, but it's illegal.

  • Sebastian, you do realize an i5 processor alone is $200 right? You're not taking into account the software, OS, other hardware, and excellent build quality are you?

  • interessantes Video ! Gruss aus Kassel Germany

  • i love apple, but this thing is a piece of shit.

  • $600 with 2 damn gigs of ram and no DVD drive, I don't think so

  • @SebastianZHD

because the amount of ram obviously shows how powerful this machine is.

  • @Mastermind12358 .... can you tell me where I said the ram tells how powerful the machine is.

  • @SebastianZHD

"600 with 2 damn gigs of ram".

  • @SebastianZHD it takes like 2 minutes to upgrade it to 8gbs of RAM. plus everything is downloaded anyway. Movies, software, apps.

  • @ParadoxRevise IR sensor? It's a receiver for IR remote controllers, like the one Apple offers.

  • how can u put programs on it.

  • @henasee1 Through the Mac App Store, or 3rd party downloads from the internet. If you need an optical drive, you can borrow one from another computer using disc sharing, or buy an external USB drive.

  • No keyboard and No mouse? ROFLMAO what an ripoff

  • @nldubish well you should already have a keyboard and mouse anyway, so you don't need any more...

  • @nldubish The next cheapest Mac is $999. That's $400 saved for a keyboard of mouse.

  • you is using a imac?

  • @max53943 I am an iMac user, yep!

  • why do people buy this piece of crap?

  • @tettentettentetten It's cheaper, flexible, compact, and can be used in a variety of applications like servers and home media centers. There are very few computers like it.

  • @DetroitBORG but there are, and they are cheaper too :D by the way, if you want a server, buy a server, if you want a home media center, buy a home media center.. those systems are made for it, this apple mini isn't.. not saying it can't do it, but it's the same as running it on some 100$ pc

by the way.. a media center without dvd drive? :s

  • @tettentettentetten

It's really not a piece of crap. One of Apple's most underrated products if you ask me.

  • @tettentettentetten They are on a budget? They want it for a home theatre computer? They are going to connect it to a thunderbolt display? The list could go on.

  • @dansc00l a home theater without optical drive? ^^ and if you're on a budget, you better buy a small pc, will be cheaper ;)

  • @tettentettentetten

Just becouse you dont like it....

  • I'm thinking about getting one of these one day as a main Mac. A few upgrades and it could be a super awesome machine.

  • cd bluray?

  • @dlousmane Read the description, no optical drive.

  • how do you access the hard drive i can not seem to find it

  • @lordanikan3 How do you mean, as in physically accessing it through the bottom of the machine? It's not easy, you have to disassemble the machine.

  • @DetroitBORG no... like on the screen, i have not been able to find the application support file

  • the mac mini is shit now w/out the optical drive. FAIL! im gonna get an older intel model.

  • is there a cd/dvd ?

  • @OwnagePrankBelgium No, that has been eliminated. You can purchase an external USB powered one.

  • Will this work with an HP monitor?

  • @Ronaldinho510 Yes, the Mac Mini should work with any monitor

  • Too expensive !!!! Since it is not compatible with USB 3.0 and/or later + It doesn't have dlna + No blu-ray 3d support etc.

  • @bluvaio You can install a dlna server on a Mac. Mac uses Thunderbolt instead of USB 3.0, although USB 3.0 might come with Intel's Ivy Bridge processors.

  • Thanks for the info but I do think that Sony's VGX-TP1 is better than Mac mini.

  • Is the mac mini good for a everyday computer?

  • what is better a mac mini or the 1199 imac if i have a good tv to use as a monitor

  • @coltsandcubsfan Definitely the iMac. The Mac Mini is very low in specs, specially because the processor is dual-core (not quad-core) and it doesn't include a graphics card. Instead, it uses the integrated CPU graphics, which are not very good.

  • @coltsandcubsfan No TV has the resolution of a computer monitor, the iMac is best of course.

  • can u play games with this plz help

  • @superman70751 the graphics are Intel 3000 HD. Means, even with Windows playing new titles is pain. You may be able to play older games in low-medium settings, but playing on mac? Come one :)

  • Is this good for music movies, Music record and video editing? Please reply !

  • @TheXtremeGamer90 Yes to all, although you will probably want to add more RAM to the Mac mini (which can be done very cheaply yourself).

  • loses, not looses :)

  • and we also have 'hello'

  • There is no cd slot, thats shit

  • @psndarkbunny2 Apple is living in it's own fantasy world where optical media is dead, that's why they don't support it on new products. It's ridiculous.

  • @ThisIsWonga1 Optical Media is a low density storage format, most Mac users have no need for it. I never use my optical drives in my Macs.

  • @ThisIsWonga1

Optical media is pretty much dead...

  • @Alantgv Yeah yeah. It's not like people still buy DVDs, Blu-Rays or video games. Yup, it's completely dead.

    No. It's nowhere near dead.

  • @ThisIsWonga1

Remember the first iMac from 1998? People were complaining that it had no floppy drive. Before you knew it, no computers had floppy drives. Apple is looking into the future and making the best decisions for the appropriate time period. Soon no computers will have CD drives and everything will be online. This proves that apple is the market leader when it comes to the future of computers.

  • @Alantgv No it doesn't. The reason floppy drives disappeared from computers is because floppy disks became obsolete due to their tiny capacity. Sure, CDs and DVDs are also pretty much obsolete in terms of their capacity, but Blu-rays can hold up to 128GB. Please also consider that internet access is not common in many areas. Also consider that some people like having a physical copy of media they've purchased. It's going to be a long way before everything is in 'the cloud'.

  • @ThisIsWonga1

Ok, ok. If thats what you think, thats fine. It is true that optical media will be around for years to come but i would rather purchase a piece of software online instead of having to go out to the store and pay full price for a disc that will likely be thrown in the trash once the software is installed. You also said that some people do not have internet, but most people dont have a Blu ray drive in their computer. I respect your opinion, but I have a different opinion.

  • @psndarkbunny2 you still use CDs? lol

  • @psndarkbunny2 Who uses CD's anymore? It's all digital bro. Music, movies, apps, everything is digital.

  • @TheKevhzo no its with any mouse or keyboard

  • Can someone please help me with this question. Do you have to have a keyboard and mouse from apple? Can I connect keyboard and mouse by using the USB ports? (keyboard and mouse not made my apple) And why does this not have the top bar thingy like other mac computers? (stupid question I think, but just wondering) Thanks!

  • @TheKevzho You do not need to use Apple's keyboard or mouse, it will work with anything 3rd party via Bluetooth or USB (wired or wireless).

I'm not sure I understand the question about the top bar? Are you talking about the optical disc slot? That was eliminated.

  • @TheKevzho You do not need to use Apple's keyboard or mouse, it will work with anything 3rd party via Bluetooth or USB (wired or wireless).

I'm not sure I understand the question about the top bar? Are you talking about the optical disc slot? That was eliminated.

  • Is this good for App Development?

  • @BooYaaGames Yes, perfect for that.

  • I live in Holland And have a other power, how do i do this? but i wanna buy it in the US
