i know i'm late to the party on this one, but it's clear to me she is NOT lip-syncing, you can tell when someone is actually singing just by watching how they breathe and their stance when they stand. she is actually singing. of course there will be a difference between this performance and the one on the cd, since that was recorded in a studio.

that being said... i've always loved this song, it's always had a special meaning for me, in finding the light in the darkness, no matter how bad

Opening ceremony WAS prerecorded.HAD to be!!!Tempereture was in low teens at the start and reached single digits during and it would be impossible to tune and to keep all instrumens tuned.You can also do some serious damage to your voice if you sing in such low temperatures.Performance was still great!!!Truly once in a lifetime experience and I was there!

What you're seeing is a sound engineer's nightmare: a live 50-piece orchestra, a chorus of a few hundred kids who move, and a 19 year-old superstar, standing on a moving platform, and knocking it out of the park, literally: a big, open stadium, during a once-and-only-once performance for half a billion people. Not only did LeAnn NOT lip-sync this, she put so much effort into her performance that she forgot the directions and tilted her head DOWN into the mike, forcing the director to cut away.

Great song, great performance. I conduct the former 2002 Olympic Children's Choir right here in Salt Lake City. I still have some of these kids from the Opening and Closing Ceremonies - they're all teenagers now, but their hearts are still very young. I absolutely adore them.

it's lip synched, you can tell by the effort exerted by her that she isn't pumped it into that mic, she's no where near out of breath. I know she's an amazing singer but you still have to breathe more when you're really singing. Plus it was really cold and your voice will be different in the low temps.

I'm in the music business, and I happened to be there with the kids. I know that the kids were lip-synced, but I'm not sure about LeAnn. As a general rule, it's always safer to use the pre-recorded version at such an important event, so I wouldn't be surprised. I was surprised, though, was the mastering of this song on the actual CD was too hot, and there is some distortion. I don't know if it was intentional, but it sure wasn't pleasing to my ears.

i think she's an amazing singer but she is lip syncing this whole song...i listened to a phrase, paused it and listen to the same phrase on the CD and it sounded literally EXACTLY the same. i did that for almost every line in the song like the high notes and the runs wound exactly the same with is almost impossible to do but i don't blame her because it's a hard song to sing and you wouldn't wanna mess up in front of all those people but she was DEFINITELY lip syncing it lol but i still love her
