if i finished my movie. And i want to add transitions but it messes up the timing . And i worked on the timing for more than 8 hours . What do i do ?

i hate how everytime you add a transition and try to make it shorter it always extends or messes up the clips. I want to make music videos and having this problem really ticks me off.
