  • "God Helps Those Who CANNOT Help Themselves!"

THANK YOU!! lol, It's sickening to hear God helps those who help themselves.if they can help themselves, why do they need help from God?Makes no sense.

    Grace wins!

  • Wonderful, WONDERFUL post --- we humans are so full of ourselves often FORGETTING who GOD is...

He is Holy, Holy, Holy and to think one day we shall be judged by the Eternal JUDGE. Mercy and grace, may we cling to the true salvation found ONLY in Christ Jesus the sacrificial BLOOD sacrifice for our sin.

Blessed be His Name forevermore, people. Forevermore

  • now this is preaching....thank you brother Jeff.

  • One of the guys I listened to just before I began to study theology was Henry Blackaby. He said the same thing in his "Experiencing God" series. "God helps those that can't help themselves." Amen

  • My goodness the boldness is just crazy

  • When I listened to Jeff's sermons, they were as powerful as Paul Washers. These messages really give me hope. I didn't know if I was still granted repentance, because I didn't hear the gospel, but just preaching. But it's like my eyes were really opened to repentance again when I hear Jeff speak. I feel like my conversion is slow, but I thank God for granting me the repentance He's given me so far. I hope the gospel will keep changing me, and others.

  • now....that's preaching. Thank you brother Noblit.

  • he makes me kind of feel im going to hell anyway. hes kind of scares me, and i study everyday. felling scared and worried i know thats a sin too?????

  • Well, we should feel convicted about the sins that we have committed and confess them to God, repent, and turn from those sins; but if you've already been saved, you shouldn't have to be afraid of going to hell since God will not lose any of those that He has drawn out of the world (John 6:39, 10:28-29). Even so, as believers, we should still continue to repent, but, as a believer, you do not need to be afraid of hell, unless your conversion was false.

  • Are you born again Christian?

  • Wow! This is amazing preaching, I understand why Paul Washer preaches so good.

  • here's a thought for religious people: how about just concentrating on being good people and not judging others...

  • Yet you just judged people by calling them religious. Classic.

  • what would you call people with a religon? republican?

  • Irrationality called. They want their reasoning back.

What in the world does that even mean? You said that religious people shouldn't judge others, but you just judged people by calling them religious. Do you wish to defend what is pretty obvious to be a hypocritical statement?

  • wow a person with a religion calling me hypocrit...let me see: various branches of religions say the other is not as accurate, some go as far as saying: if you don't believe in jesus you will burn in hell...my "beef" is: why don't people with a religion keep it simple and just abolish religions that have been nothing but a cancer in human kind and most of all a business, and just say: hey,we believe in god and in being good and honest...sounds a lot simpler than 10 comandments that are hypocrisy

  • You obviously didn't understand my argument. Study "self-refuting assertions." I'm sure you can google it. Good life.

  • @FranciscoBonito

The worlds problems is not religion but false religion and false professors of faith and sin.

  • @LaneCh i clearly see your point lol,but yea man Christ will draw all men to him... Jesus is king.....of kings :-)

  • One of the best sermons I've ever heard. Very powerful!

  • turgore,

Where is the proof to your statement?

  • He did help me HE SAVED ME!

  • I was just explaining to someone that today we cannot start the Gospel presentation with John 3:16. Because you cannot understand the wonder of "God so loved the world" if you don't understand "you were DEAD in your sins and trespasses".

  • AMEN!!!

  • Shame on all you people arrogantly trying to manipulate the perfect word of God into what you THINK, as if it were TRUE. There is a word for this. It is blasphemy!

  • What are you referring to specifically?

  • I was just demonstrating the obvious problem with over-interpretation of the Text, yet there is a clear issue with no-interpretation: no action. Unlike most people, I don't solve this problem by moderating the interpretation. Instead, I try to find the underlying moral principles between the Lines.

As a good friend of mine says:

'The Ten Commandments are not the basis for ethics, Ethics are the basis of the ten commandments'.

    peace, brother.

  • What does your friend mean when he claims ethics are the basis of the Ten Commandments? Does your friend believe that God is not the source of knowledge and morality? Even in the Garden of Eden, God instructed Adam and Eve to not eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

  • No, hence the capitalization, I was not referring to 'Ethics' as something man-made, but rather Something incomparably larger. It is nearly explicit, in the ten commandments and other places, that the point of that area of Ethics is for humans to coexist peacefully in the pursuit of Truth.

& While I am sermonizing, I'm also obliged to point out (to take a leaf out of secular ethics) that: children are not Believers before they know how to read, & should've a diverse exposure to faiths, b4 labels

  • IMHO...

By "ethics" he meant, I surmised, the character -- the Holiness -- of God. Afterall, the Law (and its subset the 10 C's) does not bind God, it is a snapshot of God's character. Ergo, you ought not do like the most religious Pharisees do in meticulously obeying every tit-n-jottle of the Law, for in all their knowledge, Christ said they had no idea who He was. Instead, seek God IN the Law.

Might I add, without the Holy Spirit, reading "between the lines" is pathetically fruitless.

  • Interesting sermon, but the title is a revolutionary concept for the religious right! Maybe God knows better...

  • Spiritually, morally, and in improvement in rightousness...we cannot help ourselves and that is what the sermon is about.

I could give you numerous passages that do not support governmental welfare and the supporting of laziness.

"For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat." (2 Thes. 3:10)

There are many others....but in Ezekial 16 God explains why he destroyed Sodom.

"She did not strengthen the poor," welfare weakens.

  • Let the poor starve, throw the weak aside, give give and then give some more to the rich and powerful... Anyone with wealth MUST be loved by God, right? Right?

Hmm, doesn't sound very biblical to me, but then, maybe I'm not rich enough?

  • Wow...I really said all of those things? Get off of your socialist horse and attempt to understand what I'm saying.

Yes, we as Christians (personally) should always help the weak, the poor, the widows, the mentally handicapped. We should give a large percentage of our income to God-centered charities in order to help the aforementioned.

But....it isn't the government's place to redistribute the wealth. Instead of giving the poor a fishing pole, we give them fish. We re-enforce lazy notions.

  • I wonder if we can agree that hard work and wealth are not synonymous?

But, hey, Jesus died penniless, His Mother sang of sending the rich away empty (Luke 1:53), James wrote against hating the poor (James 2:2-4), Paul had to work for a living, Peter was a mere fisherman...

Give a penny to the temple and do not care about the poor - do you think Christ taught that?

I agree caring must be done with discrimination, but always remember everything is under His mercy.

    Jesus is Lord!

  • We're not on the same page here....but it honestly doesn't matter that much.

  • Just out of interest, how did we get from Biblical principles to bashing state welfare?

When will people realise: the state, the Church. Two very distinct, very separate things that should have as little to do with eachother as possible.

  • AMEN,

  • Yea that's what we need, regression will get those tithing butts in the pews.

  • I really don't like this guys version of god.

  • Thats because you don't know God. You may have a god but its not the God of Scripture, the God that created the universe. You must serve a god that you have fabricated in your mind that suits how you feel. What a pity.

  • God is God, you can not change that. He spoke the True Gospel. This is not spoken toward your satification, it is spoken to break your self righteousness. Perhaps you don't like hearing the real truth. Until you reconize your wickedness in our heart, you never see the truth. Apart from Him, we are nothing.

  • Great video, Praise our God

  • No baptist minister in the next generation? Amen! It's good that God destroys DENOMINATIONALISM.

  • We are one in Jesus brother.

  • Praise God someone is still preaching the truth. Let Christ receive all the praise in our salvation! To Him be the glory for ever!

  • Thank you brother Lane. This is a blessing. My question is why isn't every church teaching this?

  • I didn't listen to the whole sermon (no time right now) and so far I agree, but what confuses me a little is, he said that God enjoys himself because he's perfect, and if he loved anything that's less perfect than Him it'd be sin, so how can he love us? I know that Jesus died for our sins so he can forgive us now, but how can he love us? He loved people before Jesus came, Israel.

  • Hey FoundShep, Thats an excellent question. I'll give it a shot to answer it. It is the christ in us that God sees. Through the wonderful gift of imputed righteousness (christ's righteousness given to us). After conversion, The Father does not only see us as forgiven sinners but as clothed in the perfect righteousness of his son. To the father we have been made perfect and as far as he is concerned we are already with him in glory (eph 2:6).

  • The same applies to the old testament saints of israel (hebrews says by faith they were made righteous.

Now there is much more to this than can be written in a few sentences. Find material on the doctrine of Imputed righteousness, God's Covenant Love, and the Holiness of God. oh by the way, there are two kinds of perfects by the way. A spoon is perfect for soup but not to eat spaghetti. The spoon is perfect for the duty is was made for but is not perfect in every aspect for every duty.

  • God is perfect in all things and in all ways and only he is (thats why he is God). God made man with the faculties to worship and honor him and we don't. We are spoons that don't even hold liquid. I hope that makes some sense, I appologize for the poor illustration. Soli Deo Gloria!

  • Thank you RevelanceMinistry for taking your time to explain it to me! But I'm still kinda confused, never really thought about it until I heard that sermon.. Does God see the christ in everyone, not only christians? Because the verse says "For God so loved the world..", and the world is everyone. I don't really understand how he can love sinners, it's as if he'd love sin. Yes he can forgive us because he's merciful, but I don't understand how he can love us (so much that he even dies for us)...

  • Can I give my 2 cents? Ok thanks, here goes. God has different kinds of love just like we do.. I love pizza, but the love I have for pizza isn't the love I have for my wife or children.. God causes the sun to shine and the rain to fall on the righteous and the unrighteous, because he is merciful. The purest love that He has for His son is the love He has for His Chosen children.

  • I guess I'm just thinking too complicated and too far again, I don't doubt that God loves us. And sometimes there are just no answers, God's ways are so much higher and I don't have to know everything...

  • Psalm 5:5 teaches that God hates all those who practice iniquity and John 3:16 teaches that God so loved the world. I take the position that God loves people and he loves the world in the context that he sent his son to die for people of every tribe and tongue. I believe "for God so loved the world" is in reference to God loves extending to the ends of the earth but not in the sense that God loves every person in the world. Jacob I loved and Esau I hated (malachi 1:1-5).

  • The love of God is sending Jesus to die for us!

  • Thank you for this! You have really cleared up John 3:16 for me as I am putting more stock into understanding election as I read and study the Word. Thank you for putting the emphasis on God- where it belongs! Praise God for loving us when we were absolutely unlovable!

  • Re; FoundSheep's question.... If I may also chime in on this ;-) don't get tripped up by timing: remember always that God is not bound by time like us. The specific date of Christ's sacrifice was not the "beginning" of salvation in His eyes, if you catch my drift. God knew before day one of creation who was (would be made) Holy and who was not. Eg; He loved David because of the holiness he was imbued by faith... faith IN the sacrifice he didn't yet see but had faith in God for. IMHO.

  • joel osteen lol 11:55

  • lol yup that was pretty funny but true!!!

  • AHHHH Lane you are the man!! I am glad you posted this sermon! Thank you.
