The music is inspired by the way Cattle herds called on each other across the Africa veld. The clicking sound you hear in some of their tracks can carry for miles !!!!
I remember this when i was like 15...makes your hair stand on end (then and now!!) its speaks past the physical directly to the soul!!! it connects...without hesitation
LBM is the sound of Africa! wish they could have been on the white wedding soundtrack! oh well it was still really good still gonna buy it on dvd. whiteweddingmovie. com
I would love a translation of this song. It has always been one of my favorites because of the harmonies. I would just love to know what they are saying!
This is to my Grandmother who just went away! She loved to hear those deep rich voices in harmony together. I love you Grandma and will miss you! Rest In Peace!
Love them so much- been looking for them!!! Tragedy ha hit hem, but they are still, I believe, lifting souls and hearts today!! Even through YouTube! HA!!!
This brings back sooo many memories from my Childhood. My mother and grandmother bought this as a VHS, and by the end of the summer we all sang along and did all the dances. Joseph Shabalala and Ladysmith Black Mambazo.
there's no (type) for this music.. its not music.. its magic. i may be white as the snow.. and covered and surouned by racisism.. but.. i will always love lady smith.. but its not my fault!... you cant NOT love them.... for those who do not.. i feel sorry.
Black Mabazo well the concert is wonderfull but black mambazo got populair by this concert most people of my age don't respect this music but african people make some of the best music in the world they dont use instruments but still its sounds great and all there voices are so clean and sing so good and this concert LIVE IN ZIMBABWE made Black Mambazo more populair showing people what the can and wel the can sing. =D
Great singing, these guys should be place in the guiness book of world records for best acapalo group. I haven't check but I think they are in there already.
I was recently in Central Africa. I thought men were serendaing me every morning - then I heard as they walk down the road to work at sunrise, they great each other with song and I could hear it from my bedroom window - I miss the sound of "call and respond" - the Afrikan people are truly beautiful

May '87 was waiting to have my vinyl of Shaka Zulu signed by these very talented performers when I was given two FREE tickets to see Graceland Concert! WOW! 18 June '09 at Old Friends(completely fantastic) Concert(6th row dead centre [10xWOW]) & kept expecting to see these guys jump out singing and dancing. Imagine my surprise when I saw a poster announcing Ladysmith Concert for 29 June @ Concert Hall QPAC (100xWOW) Amazing how things can work out so stu-bloody-pendously fantastic! Yep going!!!

They simply don't make it like that these days. The greatest collaboration of two, amazingly strong, musical cultures. Ladysmith Black Mambazo & Mr Simon, you're all genius' !!
Life expectancy at birth for males in Zimbabwe has dramatically declined since 1990 from 60 to 37, among the lowest in the world. Life expectancy for females is even lower at 34 years. This concert was filmed in 1987. It makes the drop in the markets look so trivial...
Kayne wasn't even a twinkle in his mommas eye when this concert was happening, read up on Paul Simon and mama Africa. and get some CULTURE love.... u poor, poor sheltered child.
