One thing I would like to note is that the average bonus is little over $500k not most of the average. Most of the top guys from top business schools with post graduate degrees has salary and bonus in correlation to their investment results or sales results. Most analyst work 10+ hours a day including many weekends with around $60,000 and $10,000 bonus. Directors and managin directors have salary of $300,000 and 500,000, respectively + bonus

The Goldman "bonus talk" is based on the half year reported profits. It is a half year figure not a bonus. If the full year figure is like last year then no-one gets any bonuses...so all your talk is in vain. Plus, should they make a loss instead like all the other useless US banks? Sotomayor should totally be confirmed, she meets the only requirement I have for a justice. She can't be funny no matter how hard she tries.

It is a bit sexist to warn her "not to have a melt down" but remember, its a confirmation hearing, they're often needlessly cruel.

And it may have been another failed attempt at humour. He might've meant it in the sense that the hearing was just a formality, that in order to fail she would have to have a nervous breakdown.

I don't think they were referencing to her having as meltdown, but that he was mentioning the Democratic majority in the Senate therefore giving her the advantage, and that something extremely drastic would have to happen for her to not be confirmed (as she's likely to get all Democratic votes and even a few Republican ones). I don't think its right to judge someone based on their name or place of birth, so him being born in 1943 Alabama is irrelevant to me.

The US dollar has withstood the test of time... Chinese money and just about every dollar system today has.... And none of them has hit "zero value." Surely, it has "inflated," but that doesn't mean its disappearing. Gold obviously has NOT survived the test of time as it is inconvenient and hard to lug around. When the value of money changes, foreign trade remains stable because all traded products go through the money foreign exchange before being traded, and there are ways to bring back value.
