  • good point in the beginning

  • I thought it made sense... It just requires more out of the box thinking for the viewer

  • where is that SOng from in the beginning whats the name of it?

  • The best adaptation I've seen so far. Period.

  • @demorien Yes, but it's too bad that they didn't include Ozymandias' brilliant ending monologue.

  • One of the best and beautiful looking movie I've ever seen.

  • THIS MOVIE WAS FUCKING AWESOME!!!.if u think this film sucked, clearly ur an idiot who doesnt understand cinema or adaptations!

  • @Dannyfaye Totally agree. This movie is so cool i couldn' t take my eyes away the whole time. But sadly many feel that this movie isn't that good.

  • i think to appreciate this film you really need to watch all the behind the scene things to see how much work have been done and then look for it in the film because the film itself is not that interesting

  • great job

  • 1:54 i spy professor brothers jfk.

  • wathcmen is awesome, and for those ppl who dont undertand this movie, get a new brain plz >.>

  • 2:07 he's dissin' on his small penis. Lol

  • This scene was shot at the Vancouver Art Gallery. Sat on those steps many times.

  • One of the most repulsive movies EVER MADE!!

  • Why, would that be becuase your either a homophobic asshole and hate to see a blue penis in two frames? OR are you a concerned middle aged woman who loves to exaggerate shit?

  • @BarrelsPolesandJack Watch many movies?

  • @AlexGoldhill Not garbage like this.

  • @BarrelsPolesandJack saaaaaahtup stop trying to be a critic you watched the movie and you LIKED it!

  • @yomi510 Yeah, like the first 15 minutes of it. It was so full of sex , homosexuality, and nudity that I walked out after seeing that guy naked. Not to mention that the music choices for the film was absolutely ridiculous!

  • @BarrelsPolesandJack i mean it wasnt rated PG lol

  • @yomi510 That makes absolutely no sense...kinda like this movie.

  • @BarrelsPolesandJack The movie makes sense just fine and is, in fact a carefully constructed commentary... if you're unable to fathom it the flaw is not with the movie, but with your own ignorance, perhaps even stupidity.

  • @Blunty3000 Ignorance is a matter of perspective, dear.

  • @Blunty3000 It's probably because he didn't read the graphic novel. And yes, without watching the graphic novel, it makes no sense.

  • @BarrelsPolesandJack thats cus your homophobic and obviously not comfortable seeing other ppl naked as u r insecure

  • @aresangel77 No. It's because I was raised better than that.

  • @BarrelsPolesandJack

"It was so full of sex , homosexuality, and nudity that I walked out after seeing that guy naked."

    Huh?

    What movie did you see?

Full of sex and gays?I saw a blue halfgod/superhero walk naked because he is no longer concerned with human concerns, like clothes...and a very silly 80s make out scene.

    Let me gues...Christian, right?

  • @Samplelord Yes, ma'am. And proud of it.

  • @BarrelsPolesandJack

I thought smelled represion mixed with ignorance...

  • @Samplelord then you must be smelling yourself, because I'm free through Jesus Christ.

  • @BarrelsPolesandJack Nothing like a good Religous debate in the evening

  • @codafett No worries; you're not gonna get one from me. I'm through.

  • @Samplelord

    Haha, probably.

  • At 0:06 I never got what was happening there or who anybody was... ?????

  • What?

  • @TheFatmanStudios it's Adrian Veidt (the guy swinging the pole) beating the living daylights out of Roy Victor Chess, who was paid to kill Adrian (alias Ozymandias). If you haven't, you should read the graphic novel. well worth it.

  • @TheFatmanStudios He grabs a pole from the floor and smashes the killer with it, making him fall onto a small pool of water.

  • @Owneador1337 Yep he does and with incredible style, I mean what a move!

  • @Zephiranos Well, yes :P.

  • @periman2 Everyone, you have just heard todays society speaking.

  • Well there's the problem. The producers of the movie made it out to be this big action superhero movie in the trailers. But if you'd had ever read the book then you'd know it was a lot deeper than that. Their demographic with the movie was obviously people that had never heard of it.

  • totaly aggre to tha!t

  • its a graphic novel.. not a graphic action

  • best movie of all time

  • What was that music in the beginning

  • @RockerDynamic Pretty sure it is "Blow up the Outside World".

  • wats the song

  • Rorschach has the cheapest costume but he looks the most kick-ass out of all the watchmen! xD

  • Hell yes!

  • blah bloo bleep blop

  • As much as I like the Watchmen (and I do), it's impossible to talk about it in depth and not sound like a total geek (that's not a dig, it's just my opinion).

  • This from someone who takes their username from Japanese comic books :/

  • Um actually no, Sakuko's my bff and she's from Japan?

Plus I wasn't making a dig, it was just an observation.

  • Terribly sorry, I mistook you for lame when instead you've merely got slightly creepy stalkerish tendencies. Won't happen again, hope I didn't offend. Cheers.

  • Comment removed

  • No offence taken. Especially since it has nothing to do with Sakuko, it's an inside joke concerning a joint costume at our year 10 dance last year (I went as the devil and she went as an angel.)

  • Well if you talk with just one guy with no one around in a dark secluded room it wouldn't be geeky. It'd be gay, much better.

  • hah sooo true so true

  • There really isn't any sense in Ozymandia's actions. Sending a giant squid to destroy millions of people in hopes that it would bring about peace is just as insane as making it look like Dr. Manhattan was attacking earth by killing millions of people with energy bombs. The fact that the plan worked was a mere coincidence.

  • One of the first things I noticed about this movie was how authentic the characters' clothing was. Even extras and obscure unnamed characters! The scenes that take place on the city streets in the daytime really do lo0k exactly like the bo0k!

  • Good call Galatica, u 2 Alfradio

  • Hooray for intense text arguments.

  • DR manhattan is bomb...dont really care if he bombed rorshach crazy fuck, he sucked anyway

  • rosorach was cool had a crappy childhood but grows up delivering harsh but good justice on criminals

  • Well I think the movie was ok,but to be honest I think that true Watchmen fans are gonna have to read the comics to really understand the story although the only reason why I like the movie is because of Rorschach, the rest of the characters are just not as good as him(some of them are annoying and boring aswell).

  • Dan,dr manhattan, and edward blake were all as good as rorschach.

  • True but I guess I kinda started to hate Dr Manhattan because he killed Rorschach so thats my opinion.

  • yeah what a douchebag

  • Manhattan got played, falling into Ozy's stupid plan.

Manhattan: "No, he's right. It's the only way. "

Rorschach: "That's retarded, Jon! What happens when cities stop getting vaporized? How long will people be united?"

Ozymandias: "Well... we'll periodically destroy some more."

Rorschach: "Or, we could tell everyone that Ozymandias did it. The world can unite against him."

Manhattan: "Hey. That's a good idea."

    Ozymandias: "What? NO!"

  • "Jeeezz maybe they don't even read books with serious themes" Most of them probably don't read at all. I personally loved the novel and movie, regardless of the changes made to it.

  • fuck you rorchach is one of greatet charicters in film history

  • you really can't say that people are wrong with their opinions, if you do, your being a bigger asshole than they are. i admired the story, both in the comic and the movie, but i didn't actually like it. i liked that Moore tried to break the ideal hero image, but i didn't like the story itself and i fail to see peoples obsession with it. and it was kinda boring for people who read the comic because any thrill was gone, as almost everything survived into the movie (the good things anyway)

  • buzz, WRONG! so much was cut out and a vital scene was altered. just so you know and knowing is half the battle.

  • like what? they replaced the squid with the "Dr. Manhattan bomb" which, in my opinion, made more sense than a fucking squid. the tales of the black freighter had to get cut out, just for time (and they made an entire movie of it, so...) but beyond that, what? what was cut out?

  • well in the theatrical version the scene where Hollis Mason Was beaten to death by the knot tops was cut out, but was reinserted in the DVD directors cut version, that and alot of Rorschach's psychiatric therapy in the prison was cut out to one session instead of several

  • Comment removed

  • why does it have to be anything beyond that? It was known that John was awol when the "bomb" happened also the bomb made under the "new energy" pretense makes no sense because in the comic that technology was already available/ the world binding against manhattan would mean that as soon as he was gone everything would be back to normal while the squid instilled fear of an alien attack able to happen at any time

  • not really. seeing as how Dr. Manhattan has the power of a god and all that. he could probably waste earth just by thinking about, even if he was light years away. besides. ITS A FUCKING SQUID. what the fuck kind of retard goes "giant squid. must be aliens." seriously? its a fucking SQUID. how the fuck would a SQUID get to earth from a planet presumably in another galaxy? anyone? does ANYONE want to answer that question? you know what? fuck it. I'm tired of these debates. you win. watchmen rules

  • Lol Blunty looks like the Comedian :)

  • actually yeah he does^_^

  • I know right! I thought it was for a second.

  • BEST MOVIE EVER

Idk why people that dont like the movie watch behind the scenes

  • I love how upbeat this video is for this dark film

  • awesome

  • hey blunty you look like robert downey jr

  • You're kidding. Still, it provokes me a bit. Cuz if your statement made a single person miss the movie, it'd be a sin.

  • You just don't get it don't you. You wanted to see a superhero movie full of unreal action, booms and bangs, but you encounter with something else, too big for your little brain don't you?

  • Your comment is about as lame as the movie was, congratz.

  • Thanks, and i don't give a fuck about it ok?

  • Yeah and transformers 2 is your best movie ever !! hahha,,,

  • It was by no means the worst movie ever.

Stop over exaggerating you fucking child.

  • It was the second worst movie evar, next to Hannah Montanah. This movie fuckin sucked.

  • you would have to read the comics to acctually appreciate and understand the story line in this movie.

  • Hey Yusuke252, it only sucked because you are to stupid to understand it.

  • totally agree. you need to have more than 10 braincells to appreciate this movie.

  • probably because your braincells coulnt manage to appreciate the awesome story.

  • you are a very stupid person you know that?

  • Try reading the book.

Well, go back to reception class and learn to read first. Then do so.

  • worst movie ever? lets see you say that after watching twilight

  • lol at 3:43 comidian looked like a gimp

  • I know this may sound a little mean, but did Blunty put on weight?

  • yeah, i don't think he can stop eating lots of food and sitting around being a douchebag

  • lol - it's leaner, but more coherent? Really? I genuinely pity people who think the film benefits without Moore's genius touch. I expect the UK marketplace to be better informed than the us.

  • That said, I have to say that the movie itself was very good - and tells a different, leaner and more coherent story than exists in the comic. In particular Snyder, if only because of the different medium, cuts out many of the snide remarks and political asides that Moore put in (although Rorschach's and Dr Manhatten's monologues about the nihilistic, empty, Godless world are still there). The changes Snyder makes really tighten up the story and make it much less of an ideological diatribe.

  • Of course the Watchmen comic was Leftist propaganda. This "unique perspective" and "deconstruction" has been repeated, in other formats and forms, endlessly for several decades now. In particular, the "world is doomed and US is the cause of it" business is a very tired refrain at any Left-wing protest gathering - people that Moore is very sympathetic to.

Your typical Watchmen fan will swear at you for pointing out this obvious fact. But all you need to do is read the thing to see I'm right.

  • You're so cool :P

  • Where was the host's intro filmed?

  • Love the opening sequence for this 'prom/review' :)

My personal favorite new anchor field entrance is the 'jump in'.

    KUtGW

  • Rorshach was based on an objectivist character, that explains the coolness...

  • rorschach was the best one hands down

  • is watchmen a more adult comic hero or kid hero

  • adult all the way.

and its not just one hero.

    its a bunch of them.

  • Very graphic. Nudity, gore, and cursing, not for kids.

  • where di you get that shirt, it is so cool!

  • By the way, i don't know how you, but i didn't like the film at all.

  • Read it

  • same, i had to leave it, there was no plot and a lot of violence, horrible

  • if you stayed through the whole film you wouldve realised there is a plot

  • Yea, I'm reading the graphic novel which is probably even more violent than the actual movie but It does have an interesting story, even though the whole plot seems pretty vague because of all the morbid atmosphere, but that's what makes it even more realistic because a lot of places in NYC really are like that. Just shitty run down slums, and one of the main points is to convey how silly it seems to act like the world is such a nice place when a lot of it is really f###ed up. sry 4 long comment

  • there was a plot, like patrickwilliams29 said, if wouldve stayed 4 the whole movie, u wouldve seen the plot

  • There was a plot. If you hadn't walked out on it or read the comic before seeing the movie, you would have known that. But then again your brain probably couldn't process the material.

And what's wrong with violence? Don't like to see people being killed? Go watch a kiddy movie than lol.

  • I definitely get why you didn't like it but I thought it was great, it was a really love or hate movie

  • He said soviet soldiers but they showed american officers

  • THEN WHO WAS PHONE?

  • Her mother, or a friend prank-caller, obviously.

  • Rorschach's costume is cool....

  • I was really suprised about the coustumes of WATCHMEN. They took Dave Gibbons originals and made them more realistic. Personally, Nite Owl II and Silk Spectre look a 1000x better

  • I agree with what you're saying, but in a different way. Dave Gibbons drew them in a different time then right now, especially with what was going on in the comic book and super hero world. I think Gibbons' designs were good, but not timeless. They got outdated and these guys updated them.

  • Exactly

  • Except for Ozymanduis, I prefer his original costume it's a better fit for his character.

  • They were suppose to look outdated. The costumes were never meant to look cool.

  • No, Dave Gibbons made the costumes look silly on purpose. That was the whole point! How silly the concept of superheroes really are.

  • WATCHING THE WATCHMEN: RORSCHACH by Andy Frisk

    VERY INTERESTING!

  • Movie was awesome Rorschach performance was awesome

  • It's not propoganda at all. It encompasses a number of topics. On one hand, it's a de-construction of the modern super-hero. It's also an essay on power and personal responsibility in regard to those with authority.

  • Neither Adrian nor Rorschach can be gay! Thats impossible!!! -all depressed now-

  • Rorschach seems to be asexual whilst Ozymandias is omnisexual.

  • Random, but in the movie Veidt came off as very gay to me. Did anyone else notice this?

  • it's actually hinted in the graphic novel that he is gay, also the same is hinted about rorschach

  • Nevermind the "Boys" folder Veidt has on his desktop when they open the Pyramid disk. : ) And the overall disgust and negative experiences with women that Rorschach has.

It's pretty blatant, in my opinion, but I guess I was looking for it more than your average person.

  • Hate of women doesn't make you gay. Rorschach is merely severly repressed. And you weren't looking for it more than an average person. Many people agree Ozymandias was gay, I believe Alan Moore even hinted at it once in a magazine interview.

However, if you think Rorschach is gay you don't understand much about the character.

  • I think accusation of not understanding a character should really only come from the creator, don't you? Just because people have different opinions about a character doesn't mean they don't understand it. It sound more like he's your favorite and you feel uncomfortable considering the option that he may be homosexual.

You should try to be more open to other opinions, rather than shutting them down when you have equivalent or less information about a character.

  • It's not like I was forcing it on people, just sharing publicly understood psychological causes for homosexuality; one in men being traumatic experiences with women.

  • But Rorschach doesn't like Veidt, who is hinted at being homosexual. I think if Rorschach /is/ homosexual, he'd never do anything about it. He's extremely repressed, he thinks sex is dirty, and because of his very right-wing view on the world, he has 'traditional' values which means that he wouldn't believe in a man loving another man. He might be gay, but not say anything of it because it would clash against his opinions of tradition.

    So might be closet homosexual.

  • Have you read the book? Otherwise your points are moot, as their is story in the book that most kids wont know.

  • If you ask me...all you did was mix Wikipedia information with your own opinion, than came up with that.

It's never even implied he is homosexual. And his "traditional values" don't have to implicate anything other than what his views on politics. So...yeah. Ur comment is just a bunch of rubbish.

  • Uhh, ok, no need to get at my throat like a piranha. I haven't read Watchmen's Wikipedia article, and I do have my own opinion, thanks. I was trying to give another angle to the whole 'is he gay' thing. And yes, I've read Watchmen seven times all the way through, thanks. I don't think you should make such judgmental comments just because you're safe behind your PC monitor. :|

  • HardXExplain sounds a bit grumpy.

  • You have no idea how hard I'm laughing right now. Rorschach is not only my least favourite character, but I'm also female and very very open about male homosexuality. I adore gay people. I don't feel uncomfortable about it, I just find the opinion that he's gay because of the evidence you pointed too to not be very plausible. But whatever floats your boat. I just disagree with your opinion. I'm sorry for 'shutting you down', but that's just how I feel about.

  • I didn't say that you were male, but that's good to hear about acceptance. That's the usual reason for people jumping the homosexuality thing; I guess I'm just used to people reacting from that angle.

And that's fine. I wasn't arguing very hard for it, mostly Veidt.

  • It's not so much an opinion as more it is observation and inference. You didn't "shut me down". I meant shutting them out, more so. You have your opinion, and other people theirs. I guess your initial response just sounded more defensive and accusative than was your intent.

  • Yes, I totally agree with Veidt. With Rorschach, it turns into is sexuality nature vs nurture situation, because I would think if Walter grew up with a less dysfunctional family, he would be 100% heterosexual. However early trauma he did sustain might make him open to some man-love?

    I don't know

  • "the same is hinted about rorschach"...when??? I'm really curious about this now. I know about ozy but not rorschach...

  • There are several things that people suspect on the matter. The "further investigation" of Veidt being a "possible homosexual", the handshake(which is easily disputed as being Dan's awkwardness), the negative, even traumatizing experiences with women, the violent behavior being contributed to projection, displacement, dissociation, and other defense mechanisms. Someone wrote an essay on it somewhere, but I can't find it. Sry. There are discussions out there about it. Easily found.

  • Thank you for that! God, that's messed up...He still rocks my world though!!! :) He seems to think that every woman is a whore...I wonder...

  • Hey, I think I just found the essay that you mentioned! Type in "Watching the Watchmen: Rorschach" (on Yahoo or whatever). It was easily found.

  • Yeah. And that looks like it. Thanks for finding it. : )

  • Why? How could you dislike Watchmen?

  • screw u watchmen is the best and im not saying that because the movie i read the book in 2006

  • that's fair not true

  • who cares, anyway, to your opinion... perhaps you don teven read comic books or something ...

  • Propaganda for what, then?

  • logotipx, if you read it and think it is propaganda then you missed the point of the book entirely

  • How is it propaganda?

It's almost saying how totally fucked up we are, among other things, none of which are propaganda.

  • YOU are retarded....boring asshole

  • ITS BLOODY UPSIDE DOWN!

  • lol

    it's april fools day

  • JFK

    D:

  • So... their idea of being respectful to Alan Moore was to make the COSTUMES accurate? What the hell? If they wanted to respect Alan Moore's masterpiece, they should have canceled production on the movie.

  • The movie was really good. I like it as much as I like the comic. I'm glad they made the movie because that broadened the fan base for Watchmen. A lot of people didn't hear about Watchmen until the movie came out, so it made them want to go watch the movie and read the graphic novel...at least that's what it did for me

  • I respect Watchmen as a piece of literature, not as a pop culture phenomenon. I'm just disappointed that Alan Moore finally gave in to the assholes who wanted to make Watchmen into a condensed shit sandwich... which ultimately happened. I mean, did you see the ending? I actually laughed out loud at how ridiculous and Hollywood-ly it was. I knew what was going to happen when I heard Zach Snyder was directing it. Plus the acting was pretty poor. I could go on all day, but I don't really want to.

  • You, my friend, must have seen some sort of movie. Go back to the theater and demand your money back because you didn't see Watchmen.
