The one thing that weirds me out is that at the end, the game saves your party for the sequel. But not only is there no sequel, but since you basically take over the universe why would you be out having adventures again?

Good games present their flaws in ways that make you not care.
Wiz8 isn't that hard. You just need to use every battle to it's fullest to raise as many skills as possible without relying on levels to do it. Monestary and Arnika are a treasure trove of early game items to gear yourself up if you know where everything is.
Umpani base camp has some nice spells and items purchasable at the commissary after you join them.
Trynton is a good place to skill up since the whole zone is on 1 square wide walkways and nothing can flank or get behind you.
I've been doing nothing but leveling up for maybe 4 hours in the Southern Wilderness. Those Rapax templars in the camp always annihilate me when I see them. Not an easy game. But well worth it.
Too bad that young gamers are brainwashed into eyecandy and not gameplay. Modern Warfare 2, even not being in the same genre, will NEVER beat Wizardry 8.
It gets easier in the late game when you're characters get much more powerful.
The early game is tough, and the late game can get you if you're not prepared. Once you get you're characters up to the mid teens in levels then they get very powerful.

The reason why the witcher grew so popular and people started to buy it, was when the designer mentioned that you can have sex with ladies. Every horny gamer out there, instantly bought that shit. The game play is bad and the fucking story is bullshit. The only storyline, and this is true, is to find what is happening in the town while you travel. Also you teleport to some unknown location and do the same shit again. That's it.

Behind the shoddy GFX is a game with real heart, great voice acting, nice battles, varied and colourful enemies, a nice storyline and fiendish puzzles. Took many goes to complete this game, and you can do it pretty much whatever way you wish, it's quite open. It has bad points also, such as the alliegience you forge with the Rhino peeps / Spider peeps entails doing the nausiously similar quests for both factions but the choice to ally with one, none or both is great.

You're better off playing Etrian Oddesey I & II if you want Wizardry type gameplay on the DS.

I loved Wizardry 8. Played it for months after I got over my Baldurs Gate phase (if I ever did).
I remember the Pixie Ninja class got heaps of hype because it was the only one capable of wielding the best weapon in the game :)
