  • My first dog I bought from a pet store. I don't regret having him in the least bit, but a few years later, I did get educated on shelter dogs. My second dog is a rescue and now I have two incredibly sweet dogs. You won't regret adopting.

  • i can't stand watching these kind of videos cause they make me so sad!!

  • I think we should worry more about adopting babys. We should stop domestication of animals so this kinda crap would not happen. its your fault :)

  • I really want to adopt a dog sadly my mom dosnt let me my dad says it's okay but my mom thinks I'm irresponsible for it but no all I do in my iPad is watch videos of dogs pictures and tricks too! I really want a dog! -.-

  • this almost made me cry for those pets who died

I AM A FRIKIN ANIMIAL LOVER

    and mostly towards dogs

    I love dogs so much

to me a humans life is just as important as a Humans life :(

  • Please adopt your next pet from your local animal shelter. That way a life will be saved these animals deserve to be in a home were they will be loved. They do not deserve to be in a cage .

  • My dream us to open a shelter and save all the helpless hopeless animals :(

  • @spadeslayercabbage stop begging for attention would ya.

  • shelters are wiling to ease down a bit on how strict they are with process of adopting a puppy, buying dogs won't be a must.good owners WILL change their lifestyle to make the pppy hapier. take me for example.i never liked walking in the snow, or the sun, or the rain...so when i wanted a dog, i adopted the ones that doesn't need excercise, but eventually i walk my dog every single day in rain, snow, and of course, sunny weather just 'cause i know he likes it

  • I adopted all my cats from shelters. They've been the best pets ever

  • I love animals!

  • When I become a billionare I am making a no kill shelter for all animals. And

I hope to adopt a lot of dogs and cats.

  • Aw! I got my kitty from the shelter! Please adopt pets from a shelter or rescue, not some exotic pets like the wild cats and others!

  • The large basset honud time:0:44 im going to get him i love dogs

  • It's sad that all those animals get euthanized. :( why can't they just have a home where they feel loved instead of sitting in a cage their whole life.

  • I want to run the worlds largest pet sanctuary/shelter where ALL types of animals are cared for properly whether they have to have $10,000 surgery or just need a home. Also to stop kill shelters I want to link with them to take unwanted, would be euthanized animals. We dont kill orphans and unwanted kids in foster homes so why do it to innocent animals who never had a chance?

  • @GamerSwag herion is not just taken by homeless ppl every takes that stuff

  • We got my dog from my dads friends friend, he was trying to break the dogs leg for no reason so my dad pushed him to the floor and said never do that again, Next day we got the dog from them :) saved his life i believe

  • There are 1,500 shelters for battered women in the United States. There are 3,800 animal shelters. (Schneider, 1990).

  • @markee871 yeah i know women who get batter my mum use to and do u want to know something they ducking choose the man and when the police kick that man out guess were he is teh next night back home i wont waste any time on human being who have chooses let them live their lives eleast with animals their caring luving and would give thieir lives for u less then i can say for most human beings

  • @zafeamoon You are sick! how dare you badmouth women who been in abusive marriages! you choose a human over a fucken dog? you deserve to burn and rot in the fire of hell!

  • @markee871 if u put yrself in a abusive relationship get yrself out

  • Kind people if to you the destiny of homeless animals is not indifferent, offer the small sum on support of a shelter of animals. It is necessary be registered in system webmoney and whenever possible to translate $ on the account wmz Z218679873024

We shall be grateful administration of a shelter

  • People should only get animals from shelters. There are too many selfish people who buy from breeders for appearance and ego reasons. This is so sad because there are so many homeless pets that need our help. I adopted two cats from shelters three years ago and it is the best thing I have ever done.

  • @attemptingtobehumble AND HOW MANY HOMELESS AND HUNGRY PEOPLE ARE THERE WORLDWIDE? YOUD RATHER SAVE A DOG THAN A HUMAN LIFE? FUCKEN TRAGIC!

  • @markee871 Yes because I am sure you bring homeless people in your home to live. Why do people think that because you help animals it means you can't help humans? For your information every year around Christmas time I volunteer at a homeless shelter. Not that I have to explain myself to you.

  • @markee871 homeless ppl are usally herion addicts and have put themself in that persistion and even if tehy havent homeless ppl usally commit loads of crime and i wont trust them around me and why should i give money no teh homeless is not like their saving up to move out the hood their just goner spend it on boose

  • @zafeamoon lool sorry about that everyone take drug tha parlictically incorrect i cant say anything against drugs drugs give u a best feel better then animal better then sex with aniaml better then sex with anyway nuthing can beat drug but serious drugs r the best cant say a bad thing against them

  • We need to stop euthanizing these animals. There are 10 Million unemployed people who are willing to help take care of them. There are 100,000 vacant facilities that we can use to house them.

  • @heartlessvietboy why is it everyone else responsibility for your domestication mistakes? I say let the animals run wild be fucking free instead of useing them like fucking slaves to amuse us

  • I don't think they want to be put to sleep. We need to keep them. There are 10 Million unemployed people with 10,000 abandoned buildings for these animals.

  • Why keep them and not let them run free? I find it wrong we keep them as pets. We should make a natural environment for them to reintroduce them into the wild. Let them live on there own. Do you think they wanted to be domesticated? you care so much for a dog but dont think twice how your cow or chicken got on your plate? The human race = hypocrites.

  • my mom has allergies so she said we had to get a purebred... I wanted a shelter dog... I wish I could take them all home and adore them hugs playing and petting every day! but I lack the means to give them the care they need so I can't take them in. if you can't take care of it don't get it found that out with my parraket and wound up giving him to my aunt who's last parrakets died of old age

  • I'm getting a dog and watching sad dog videos to show them to my friend to motivate her to get a dog too. I am so sad and so glad I can help one dog... maybe 2.

  • i was walking down my friends block when i saw her neighbor put his husky puppy, PUPPY into a box. He shook the box really hard and i heard squeals coming from the box. He taped the box with duct tape threw the box in the air kicked it onto the sidewalk and went inside. My mom, my sister and I took it to the pe hospital but by the time we got there, The beautiful baby Husky was long gone it was very emotional. ),:

  • @iheartdacullens How long ago did this happen? You need to report this lunatic to your local police and animal shelter. Report him to any official who will listen to you. He needs to go to jail for animal cruelty. What he did is a SERIOUS crime. There were several witnesses including the vet you took the puppy to so you have a good case. Chances are if he does this to animals, he is doing this to people too. He is a danger to society and must be put in away to protect other animals and people!!

  • Thanks for this video and the summary. :)

  • In addition shelters are rarely undermanned and under-supplied, and often euthanize out of lack of patience with their animals and the lack of desire to keep them, the animals of which are just as often strays as they are from bad owners. Not all shelters are good, and not all people who own pets are bad. This video has a good message, but like with other teachings from animal media, there are propaganda and lies added to favor the views of the video's maker.

  • @anthroV "Rarely undermanned and under-supplied"? Where did you get that information? As a shelter volunteer and someone who is well informed about shelters, this is not true. Most shelters are understaffed and have no choice but to rely on volunteers. Don't spread false information that undermines what many good volunteers do week after week. It is everyone's responsibility to pitch in and do what they can and the least you can do is spread truth and not lies.

  • Its a shame that people that love their pets and are capable of taking care of them are the ones being viewed negatively here. None of my pets have ever been sent to shelters. We've owned over 50 cats over the last 20 years, which is almost my entire life. Many of these cats were entire litters and their mothers, whom were wild. Surprisingly many died as a result of religious fanatics. The oldest of our cats lived to 30 years... others live short lives of around 15-20 years.

  • about 4 years ago i saw my neighbor was leaving her boxer/pitbull mix outside in the cold (mind you it was a year we were having -10 type weather daily) and she wasnt being feed unless she came to my house. I called the animal pound and they took her within 24 hours. lady never asked if i knew anything, she didnt even care. i told the animal pound if no one had claimed her (which i was hoping the lady wouldnt) I would adopt her. its been 4 years now since that day. she is doing great.

  • I have adopted two wonderful dogs from the Humane Society in Charleston, West Virginia. Tomorrow a new member of our family will join us...a lovely female five-month-old cat. Pets from shelters are so wonderful and I cannot understand people buying animals from puppie mills instead of giving one of those great creatures a forever loving home.

  • This proves that we humans cannot love. ANimals give us so much love unconditionally, yet we cannot return that love. SO sad. Maybe WE are the true 'animals,' not them.

  • I got my dog from a shelter when she was only 3 months old Someone found her in a box on the side of the road and brought her in When I saw her I knew she was the one. She has been the most wonderful companion I could ever hope to have. She sleeps in my bed frequently and is next to me right now with her head on my lap She has learned many tricks and is extremely intelligent We will be celebrating her 5th birthday in January I cant believe Ive had her that long

  • a)-. "In the United States alone, an estimated 6-8 million beautiful animals are placed in animal shelters each years". :( 0.0

"From that number an estimated 3-4 million animals make it out alive" :(. "The rest are euthanized" :(  .

IT'S A SHAME THAT UR BEST FRIENDS END IN AN ANIMAL SHELTER . IT'S A SHAME . IT'S A REAL SHAME :(. JUST LOOK AT THEIR DOGGY KITTY BEAUTIFUL FACES HERE :(. WAITING 4 LOVE :(. WAITING 4 SOME KIND OF ATTENTION :(. JUST LOOK AT...

  • @75LEONidAs75 I have adopted two wonderful dogs from a shelter and tomorrow I will get the new member of our family a cute and lovely female cat...I wish I could do more to save as many lives as I could! Animals are so special and people may be very selfish sometimes!

  • Most people cant adopt dogs from shelters cause of all there rules, cant have kids under this age, and whatever else they got and turn alot of people away for silly/stupid to good reasons depending on person. Thats why people shell out more money for a pet store puppy, because all they have to do is heres the money now give me my puppy, plus they can do instalment plans by 50 bucks a month as an example! Or they go other abouts getting a dog outside shelter setting. Which is more of the problem

  • We would have to change the shelters forms/rules, they are way to picky, in my town they made the form longer, repeating questions over again in different ways, its annoying. Almost not worth it, people are turned away by the home visits + other conditions that are required of them to adopt at all.

  • Adopt!

  • God bless the animals

  • @DRYKJ17 GOD BLESS THEM, BROTHER/SISTER :)

  • you do know that no-kill shelters send the animals to a kill shelter to make room right? WHAT!? you didn't do your reasearch.. weird

  • this is so sad i wish i could do something

  • you can do something! first, call the white house and get the hsus shut down! ( they have nothing to do with your local shelters, and only have one shelter, of which they have been accused of shooting dogs with guns at) and if you live near a kill shelter or someone who is bad, burn it down or protest. then, wear shirts that voice your opinion. remember, the hsus cant take away your shirt!

  • HSUS does a lot of good for animals. I have not heard of that story.

And why advocate violence/burning down a shelter? Most kill shelters have to kill because they don't get enough funds. Atleast they are trying. I do not support them, but they are doing the best they can. Blame pet stores and breeders, not the kill animal shelters. If pet overpopulation wasn't a problem as breeders have made it, then there would be no kill shelters. Go fight against puppy mills.

  • hmmmmm, actually, the hsus does NOT have anything other than one shelter. they have no other shelter. BUT, yes, for those maybe 5 animals that they dont give to a local shelter, they do help them. but i suggest doing a youtube search on the truth about hsus. mainly the mv case. and i advocate violence because in illinois, the only way to get everyone to stop chatting on facebook is to burn somethin. and just recently, a pet store was shut down. glad, but the animals were stabbed dead.

  • They do a lot for other animals though. I was not just refering to shelters. I don't agree with everything they do or PETA does. I much prefer the ASPCA and ALF and Born Free USA, but atleast they help educate people. I am aware of many problems with the HSUS, which is why I can only say I support some of their actions. And you can't fight cruelty with violence, it will only give your cause a bad name. Peaceful approaches have historically been more effective.

  • OH, and also wayne p. has said himself on numerous occasions things like this, which i got from the site: " domestic animals are the outcome of human selective breeding, and me and my organization would not mind to see the extinction of domestic animals"- wayne p., HSUS founder and president. also, i oppose them because they are strongly for bsl against apbts, AND i own a python. and they are trying to get a python ban for the us. and on the site, they lie to everyone ( continued below

  • First off, pythons are part of the exotic pet trade which is a horrible thing if you know behind the scenes of it. And I didn't say I agreed with everything the HSUS does, but in terms of fighting factory farms and dog fighting, they actually do quite a lot.

  • they say that DOGFIGHTING IN SPECIFIC is illegal. now, heres the thing they say: dogfighting is illegal in every us state. well, the truth is that only animal ABUSE is illegal. only 3 states so far have passed actual dogfighting laws. for example, if an officer comes to a dogfight, if there are no visible injuries, the officer can not legally stop the person unless in those 3 states. doesnt matter if dogfighting, only animal abuse. also, if the person never touches the dog while fighting it

  • then they can not be arrested for anything unless in those 3 states.

  • i agree if all you show is violence not only are you doing bad for your own cause (people dont respect violence they cower in front of it) if i stand for something i dont want people to say well i dont think we should do anything because then we'll be associated with them, thats the reason i didnt say anything about abuse at the horses races because everyone thinks animal activist are too extreeme and it is sad that ppl think you have to attack to get results all i see is ignorance

  • sadly there are so many animals that are homeless that cant possibly all fit in shelters. i would support any shelter, kill or no kill, simply becuase of the fact that i understand that at times its better to put an animal down if no where for it to go. I adopted my own little cat from a shelter which does put animals down. Its a kinder fate for them than being out in the street at the mercy of the elements and cruelty. i hope more people elect to adopt animals, they need loving homes.

  • There is such a thing as a no kill shelter you know. There are even places that will foster care the animals until a home can be found.

Why would you even suggest shooting them? Not only is that horrible, but I would have to say that the people "whining about irresponsible owners" would not want you to shoot them. Where is your basis for saying that? People promoting responsible ownership want to help animals, so your statement makes no sense.

  • Comment removed

  • No kill shelters will often put an animal down too for silly reasons. Even the ASPCA has a blond hair blue eyes mentality.

  • i wish i could help but i cant afford it. i would give up birthday and christmas presents for 1 or 2 of these pets, dogs. i am allegic to cats

  • Aw I'm sorry to hear that :( You can still help by spreading the word about adopting from a shelter :)

  • I'd get one from a kill shelter, 'cause the ones at the no-kill, shelters are safe.

  • That is true, but the thing is, if you buy from a no-kill shelter, you are supporting a place that does not kill animals, In the end, fewer animals get killed that way.

  • u2bqna was me, sorry, my friend for got to log off ;), any way, I'll just keep whatever comes my way, I've got 6 cats and a dog :D

  • That's wonderful :)

  • I want a dog. Too bad my parents are strict and thinks pets are useless. Ther in debt too so I'm getting a less chance of having a dog D;

  • Aww I'm sorry to hear that :(

  • In germany, the rules for adopting a shelter animal are very hard. to adopt a young dog you must at least be 30 and have experience with dogs, so people buy young dogs instead of taking an old one in.

My neighbor had a big house and used it as a home for old and damaged shelter cats, even the most aggressive or scared ones nobody wanted to take.I took two biting rats and a bunny that refused to move at all, but now at least the bunny recovered.

  • Wow that's tough! Here in the USA, anyone over 18 can adopt any animal. Making it so people have to be over 30 must make it very hard to find animals homes :( Your neighbor sounds awesome! :) And I'm glad the bunny is ok now! :)

  • It is hard, but on the other hand it prevents damaged animals to get the same problems they were saved from.

  • That is a good point. I do believe that people should have certain requirements to own animals, because a lot of animals end up in bad homes with irresponsible owners who are not ready to care for an animal. But, that would be unconstitutional and there are so many animals in need of homes that it may even add to the problem. Thanks for the comment! :)

  • I adopted my dog from an animal shelter. I love her so much, but she is almost 14 and I know the time is running out. ;(

  • Just think about how you changed her life! You gave her a new life, and a very happy one I am sure. It is very sad to think that she is getting older, but you must always remember how you both changed each others lives. It is extremely hard to lose a pet though, they are family. Just try and make the most of it :)

  • thanks! Yes thats wat my mom and dad are always saying. :) she has lime disease so were giving her pills for 12 weeks.

  • Aww poor thing :( I hope she gets better!

  • she is getting better day by day. thanks for you support. I subbed.

  • That's wonderful! I hope her recovery continues to go well! :) And thank you very much for subscribing! :)

  • @XxSugarRushx3 my friends dog is gonna b 17 in may and she is still alive. its a miricle, but she is so old she is mostly deaf and blind. poor tika

  • ...I just got done watching 4 episodes of animal cops.. and then i get on here... All the neglected and abused animals... :'(

  • I have such a hard time watching Animal Cops because it's so sad to see the animals so abused/neglected :( People need to start caring more for animals.

  • Yeh, i do too.. By the end of most episodes i'm in tears.. it's really sad.

  • Yay, great vid! I adopted all of my pets, even my hamsters. There's honestly no reason why anyone should be buying pets from breeders and petstores when there's millions dying in shelters!

  • Yeah, I've never understood why anyone would not want to adopt. :) Thanks for commenting!

  • There isnt any shelter in my city but i adopted cats who were in the city whit no owner. And they are really nice, but a pity i dont have none at the present. I should get one soon :)

  • That's just as good as going to a shelter :) I hope you are able to adopt another! :) Thanks for commenting!

  • Yes! We are big supporters of pet adoption. We have adopted two Pitbulls and three cats. We wish we could afford more. Nice video ~ Thanks for spreading the word!

  • That's great! It's always nice to hear about people choosing adoption! :) Thanks for commenting!

  • I totally agree, its better to adopt a pet because then those animals no matter what age they are, can be given a chance to live out their days and will never have to worry about dying alone or sad.

  • I completely agree! :)

    Thanks for commenting!

  • Recently my grandparents adopted two dogs and I've never been so happy with them. They are great dogs and protect the house. Plus my grandparents have a farm and they're sooo happy there. I really wish people could find a way to adopt these animals, they're so lovely.

FIX YOUR PETS. We need to spread the word about pet overpopulation!

  • That's great! :) And they have a farm? That's really cool! And yeah, people really need to fix their pets. It's stupid to let their animals have babies when there are already so many out there in need of a home. Thanks for commenting! :)

  • Well, I took my dog from a shelter...whenever you want a pet, it´s always better to take an animal from an animal shelter...that way we help those poor homeless animals...

  • That's awesome! :)

    Thanks so much for commenting!

  • In china, there are just dogs walking around everywhere in the streets, like people, almost (but not as many). They all tend to look the same too, so I'm assuming most dogs in China are severly inbred. It tends to be extremely depressing when I thought about it//

    On the other hand, here where I live the main ("only") animal shelter we have I wanted to volunteer at. Problem is, is that other people do too. Apparently they have too much help -___-. Cruel fate is bestowed upon me ;_;

  • Thats really sad =( And I hope you get to volunteer there eventually! Thanks for commenting Kigs!

  • i am a kid but when i grow up i want to start a shelter (no kill of couse) and have an open feild to put a place for discarded tigers and stuff from zoos its so sad how they kill animals just cause they are big and no one wants big dogs or pitbulls.I have met one and they are the sweetest things few people understand what is going on and i want to change it!!!

  • Great attitude =) Thanks for commenting!

  • 6-8 MILLION!

    wtf

L2 be responsible with pets noob....

Lost my dog about 2 months ago :(

    Cancer R.I.P Gorgie

  • Yeah It's really sad =( So many animals. I'm really sorry about your dog =(

  • That´s VERY true. Everyone can help, be they a kid or an adult. :)

  • We´re glad you do! Many shelters that do kill animals are pushed into that awful position by people who continue to breed their pets. They just can´t help every single animal, though they do try. That´s why we must spay and neuter our pets! Irresponsible pet owners are most at fault for this huge epidemic.

  • I would bring them all home....

  • We agree! Every animal is beautiful and deserves a second chance at life :)

  • This is just a horrific statement on our sick society. Our society has agreed that we will kill companion animals that don't have homes. It's just sick. How people can talk about how great a country this is, it's totally beyond me. We are in league with the murder of helpless innocents.

  • Agreed. We need to start spaying and neutering our pets. People just don´t understand that even one litter can ultimately result in thousands more animals... animals that take a place in someones home that an animal shelter animal could have taken. Once people realize this, the killing can finally stop.

Thanks for commenting, we appreciate it!

  • Agreed! It should be illegal to sell animals as pets. Breeding should be illegal. Of course, good-frickin'-luck getting THAT law passed. Grrr...

  • im so glad our shelter is a no kill one, i got my cat from there :)

  • That's so great! :)

  • A pet is for life, people should remember that. =) I hope those animals find good homes =)

  • I agree! And don´t worry, all those animals found good homes! :)

  • cool i like the intro thing it makes it so official XD and when i worked for the SPCA we got alot of rescue animals every day one day we go 30 all at once, thats actually where i got my Dog Neko from, he was rescued from an abusive home and i saw him at work and i had to have him lol now he chews up everything i own. good vid guys love what ur doin.

  • Wow 30 in one day! That's a lot! And Lol a dog named Neko :P Haha thats really cute! I'm glad he has a good home now! ^^

  • I can't adopt because I don't have room in my house for a pet but they should lets those animals go somewhere other than a shelter so they are happy and not caged. Animals should either be killed or set free. Its very blunt the way it sounds but its true. Animals are meant to be free and happy. If they love the shelter then fine, but like 99.9% in a shelter basically shut down and become depressed. Very sad, but true.

  • Most shelters take the dogs out for walks during the day and play with them. Cats are generally let out of the cages at night to play. All the shelters I have been to give the animals enrichment, whether it be walks or climbing structures. And the goal of the shelter is to "free" the animal by finding it a new, loving home. No matter how long it takes to find, the perfect home is out there somewhere for them and its worth waiting for :)

  • And all of my pets were shelter animals. They are all extremely happy, energetic and loving. And to be honest, most are. I have a lot of friends who have opted to adopt and none of them are depressed. When I go to shelters to visit, I see happy, hopeful animals, not depressed ones :)

  • very true but most shelters are not like that; most of them treat the animals terribly which is sad. But it's nice that some shelters let their animals out sometimes =D

  • No, really most are not like that. It's true :) In the past, your statement would have been true, but now, times are changing and shelters have grown to be something great. Many people still have that misconception though. Granted, there are still some bad ones out there (perhaps the ones you've seen) but for the most part they are good. If you go to any no-kill shelter its almost guaranteed to be good ;)

  • well thats good haven't been to a shelter since I was 5 and have heard and seen many cruel things go on in there its good that people are doing more =D

  • Yeah =P

  • My dog Emma is from the HUmane society, tha tplace is great! My cat is adopted from a friend, though, but we did get her spayed, too ^^

Humane society doesnt kill the animals, and you have to have the pet spayed/neutured before takign it home. Great place... Really is ^^

  • That´s awesome. Many shelters require spaying or neutering of each shelter animal before they are adopted, which is the best thing possible as it ensures no accidental births. It´s great both your animals are rescued, and that your support your local humane society´s work so much!

  • nice vid

  • Thanks!

  • Yeah, it's pretty important to neuter and spay your pets. It always made me feel depressed to see people give the offspring of their pets away.

Both of our animals are adopted. One dog is rescued from the local animal shelter, and the other is from a more expensive no-kill shleter downtown. We love our mutts. :)

  • That is great! I love to hear that ;) We have 3 cats that were adopted from a shelter as well. Mutts rule ;D

  • It's sooo sad T_T

  • Yes, it is... these innocent animals are put to death for the ignorance of people... as more people become aware of the plight of shelter animals, maybe more people will fix their pets and choose to adopt an animal from a shelter too!

  • wow half of them die, thats sad

  • I know, it sure is! That´s why it´s a shame that so many people don´t have their pets fixed!
