I believe it is an old idea.Second thing is,I don't think that such a concept is economical.Third thing is,it is good to use this kind of stuff to run a small fan,charge a cell phone or charge other small things like them but it is not feasible to run Iron,TV or other appliances which require 220 volts.So it is not feasible to overcome electricity crisis.Things like this are good for kids to use but can not be applicable at large scale.I am afraid either it can make 1MW or not.

we could use it on our shore we would not have to setup a channel like hydro nor do we have to set up big foundations to hold the poles like Wind mill, we just have to strip them to the shore and connect them to the power distribution. keep up the good work

Could have done better ... poor presentation..... now a days, presentation is everything... could have shown a prototype of a commercial device with proper shape or presentable look instead of showing a chipboard ... I've seen grade 8 students better than this ...

it's not cost effective.. Hydroelectricity in Northern Areas is the cheapest source of electricity with a potential for over 60,000 MW. Coal is also an option for a sustained supply of 60,000 MW over more than a century. Pakistan just cannot afford bringing in the new high-tech alternative sources yet n there is no need as well when we have so much potential in the already present resources.

it produces very small amount of electricity.AND u cannot save PAKISTAN from energy crisis with small amount of electricity to light a small piece of shit LED....no offence but truth is truth

@shanikhan999 let me guess.. wht do u use in the dark when the electricity goes off?? those *small* LED emrgency lamps. so, SOMETHING is betr thn NOTHING.. secndly, u didnt get the exact point of the video.. just sit fr a secnd and total the amount of energy produced if millions of people walk everyday wearing those shoes. IMMENSE. my msg to all.. we need to think logically not pacisimistically to find solutions to any of our problems. a betr aproach to achieve success in any aspect.

@blessme32 so why use piezoelectric material which is expensive and difficult to find , when u hv AA batteries (cheap and easily available) to light LED at dark .and when light is off one is gonna pick his shoe in hand (disgusting) and use it as emergency light. @shanikhan999 you might be right they produce less energy but i must rectify u here my firend! the piezos u knw are form sound systems and speakers used just for changing logic signals from 0 to 1! but piezoelectric materials are fabrigated at laboratories. so it all depends on how u are making them! there are piezos (piezoelectric strips) even commercially avialable which when used give enormous ammount of energy. this is already tested at dance clubs.
