  • I have a mature male cichlid and a young male ( i knows it a male, bred him myself), and soon a large common or leopard pleco, in a 30 gallon ( looks allot like a 50) If I got one or two ( of the same gender) salvini would they work out together?

  • wow nice color on those salvinis..but who won?

  • Nice salvinis they seem pretty aggressive, u think RTBS, Bichir n synos will be fine with them?

  • how do you tell if its a male or female

  • damn how much territory do they want, its just the 2 of them in their!!

  • dude you have a ridiculous amount of substrate....but cool fish nevertheless. i use less than an inch in a 5 ft tank....

  • I have a pair of those...had a large male (about 18 cm), that was killed by a same size False Green Terror, and his female, that is 15cm ( 6 in). Now I have a new much better, and much more aggressive male, that is 12 cm. They spawned, and have a lot of fry. When breeding, they are really aggressive, even more aggressive than convicts. Yesterday, they almost killed red lobster ( 12 cm long), that came to their territory.

  • Great sals, after I bought a female for my male, they both turned really dark and my male is alwats in his cave and not as outgoing as before, do you know why?

  • Do you breed salvinis? i honestly cannot find them anywhere, and i refuse to order fish online...pfft...so sad. If you do, what state are you in?

  • @CrystallineEnitity

they are wild in the canals in broward county florida.....you can catch em on worms......

  • Salvinis are monstrous little fish....Convicts aren't half as aggressive

  • @nvtonivs

Yeah right mate, try a sal with a pair of breeding convicts, my male convict has already killed my 24 inch dovii

  • what r the cons hiding from. The convict is far more aggressive than a salvini

  • No, the Salvini are both more aggressive and larger. Remember, these are also preparing to spawn in the video!

Convicts are aggressive, and push around many fish, but not the Salvini.

  • cons kill everything when they breed.

  • i dont think so, i heard that salvinis were more calm except when breeding. A single salvini would be ripped by a convict. n size dont matter, my 4 in convict tries to take on my 6.5 in male jaguar cichlid even though he doesnt win but salvinis arent that tough

  • probably dont hav a salvini? if u did, u wudnt say they arnt tough :P

  • my flowerhorn would rip a salvini apart, hes a beast

  • well, its a diff story with flowerhorn....:P

  • yeah ur right mine is terrible he fights the green terror n when my convict tries to break them up the fowerhorn goes after him. he even tries to fight the red terror n the fh is the smallest in the tank!!

  • ther in that tank alone?

  • Due to the number of plants (more since this video), I am able to keep them with Raphael Cats and a Bristlenose. The convict pair they used to share it with are currently hiding behind the divider and need to be moved.

In the Average 55g though, one pair is quite enough, alone. In 2 mo they may share a 75g with some giant Danios however.

  • nice fish, what size tank is that, 55? looks nice

  • Yes, a 55, although they now have a partial divider as they have grown a bit.

  • Pucker up bad boys... nice fish though.
