  • Very nice revo and video! I really like how the .18tz responds, but the 3.3 is not slow either. Just wondering if you are still running much? Havent seen many r/c video's from you lately. I really enjoy all your video's, thanks for posting.

  • @CumminsDriver635 Thank you! been a while i havent run, but i plan to do some videos next summer :)

  • Hi there nice vid cld you tell me the best gearing to acc quicker or wheelie plz

  • @xXChapperz1Xx With the 3.3? use the stock gearing, get a wing mount and a wing, with badland tires, adjust your suspension to an higher ride height, with all that it should wheelie more easily. mine could wheelie with low ride height, even all stock.

  • @xXChapperz1Xx you can tighten your slipper clutch and with a good tune u can pull wheelies like crazy

  • Yeah, a lot of trial and error and $ lol but had some great help from my friend at ABmods, wich is a nitro rc engine company.... you dont need to gear it to go slower, with the right mod it should have as much torque if not more and a better mid to top end. Using the right tuned pipe also help :) You need to know what are the timing , if you dont know that you will not be able to properly mod an engine. :)

  • Intake or exhaust ports? I run an rb 523 but don't wanna ruin it.. Was thinking of expirementing on my old stock 3.3... I thought if shortened the exhaust and went up on the spur gear this would give u a higher rpm and wider power range, or no? I've only done some port mods to V6 2 strokes... Nothing this small. U seem very experienced with these small motors. Must have taken a lot of trial and error eh? Thanks for any tips and keep the awesome vids coming!!

  • Do u modify this like large 2 strokes? Shave piston and deck the block? Just curious

  • @Jtaullie77 No, i dont want to increase timing on all port, or i change them differently one to another :) I do not shave the piston either, i change the height of the port on the sleeve, and the crank window. :)

  • Great video! What a great truck, and for me, O.S are insuperable. Nice truck. Question: What exactly things did you do to the TRX to modified it?

  • @andrseeen Thx! bothj are not modified to their maximumin that video, for the trx i altred the the timing a little to get some more mid to top end power. Same for the OS .18TZ. Later i updated the mod on the .18TZ and it was a beast! :)

stock 44mph, the mod in this vid 46-47mph and the last mod 50mph all on the same gearing for teh .18TZ :)

  • needs a 3rd gear.

  • ok well wat do you think is better?? Pros and cons please. Thanks

  • @Sandeep9201 The .18Tz is a better engine overall. And repond very well to modding. :) in this vid it is lightly modified, if you search in other vid i did later, it was more powerful.. but it is slightly harder to install. and you need a bumpstarter or starterbox to start it. It worth it :)

  • uhmm... your going over the speed limit

  • does that use a respnator pipe? could you tell me the dimesions of the pipe? i might buy one for my mmgt

  • @legostuffguy its the stock blue 2 chamber tuned pipe from the first version of the revo 3.3. :)

  • @MikePeperni how long and wide is it?

  • @legostuffguy I dont have this tuned pipe anymore, sorry cant remember , pretty much the same size as the resonator from traxxas.

  • @legostuffguy Mike pepperoni how long and how wide is it? Thats awsome!

  • Sounds like you oughta set it to shift up at higher revs.

  • how did you get 19/38 to fit? im running 17/40 and the mesh is WAY too tight and i cant adjust it out any more.

  • 17/40 and 19/38 is about the same mesh, mine wasnt too tight, may be your chassis is slightly bent?

  • just got done with a rebuild, new chassis and motor mount.

  • Ok, may be mine was bent on the other direction then lol , i remember it was a little tight fit, but i had no problem adjusting the gear mesh, if 17/40 fit 19/38 should. :)

  • ok, ill just gear it down to 15/38 then, i have the parts ordered lol

  • Comment removed

  • Not exactly, unless you swap the crank, backplate, and starter shaft from the TM into the TZ. For mine i just moved the transmission slightly forward, and had to grind about 1 thread off the threaded part of teh crank, and use a 1/8 scale flywheel nut.

And i was using an handheld bumpstart to start it.

    :)

  • Well sometimes u can mess up the port timming and while it's evident that u didn't do that the timming on the crank and ignition cld be wrong it wld still show a gain in speed we have to relize these motors aren't the same what works on one might not on the other

  • i dont know where you want to go with that, but i do know how to mod these engine pretty well. The timing is right where it should be, it was not a radical mod, both had crank timing alteration only at that time, diferent timing...

  • How can u do a speed test and use diffrent grearing and the mods that u did espacillay wit the timming that cld hurt the perfomance what did u set it up for did u advance or retard and y

  • The 2 test were made with about a month between them, the reason it was not on same gearing is i stripped the spur gear i used with the 3.3 ....

I cannot retard the timing, i dont see the point to say it maight have hurt the performance if i have higher top speed a greater power feeling....

    I modified them mildly.

I did an update on the TZ mod and it was much faster.

  • does the TZ have have much more torque and hold a better tune than the 3.3?

  • Yes, much more torque and throttle response, and better tunability... :)

  • you can flat out tune man

  • Thx man! :)

  • how did you get this motor to work im triny to put it in a jato

  • Nice truck!! I have a revo with a os. 18tm in it. Yours is tuned really well!

  • you have great vids man...i subscribed...keep up the good work

  • Thx! appreciated :)

  • MAn those engines sounds sweet... you tune your cars well :)

  • Thx man ! :)

  • dude its sargentmig where is abmods thanks

  • where did you get the trx 3.3 and how did you modifi it dude let me know plz plz plz plz plz i really want to know that is awsome

  • The TRX 3.3 is the engine that come with the traxxas revo 3.3 , you can it at many place, like ebay or towerhobbies,

You can get it modified by ABmods.

    :)

  • Get some air on that hill man! I jump my E-maxx every chance I can get. Knowing my luck, I'd hit the pole though. :S

  • hello!

how you managed to put this in the .18 tz repealed? need some particular amount? is to use the kite trinity? only the possibility of connecting with cash from, or can I use the EZ-START or recoil? if you can explain how I did, I thank you!

    even more!

  • lol 3:36 the tmax just drives by haha

  • I have seen your beautiful work on the tz mods. do you have any posts on any websites with the 3.3 mods?

  • How did u modify the trx 3.3 i wanna know what u did to the engine...clutch....

  • Im running the clutch shoes inverted, lot better... i changed things here and there to help flow and did timing alteration.

    :)

  • what power ratio are you running?

  • they look like there doing 30 if you ask me

  • I dont ask you then... lol

they do run that fast, i regularly make sure the radar is right, we have identical radar and they are both accurate.

  • i know they were going that fast, it just looks like they are going really really slow. Probs just the fact that they are monster trucks

  • Yeah it does look slower than it is for sure :)

  • Nice video. I got problem with my tuning on the Revo 3.3, so i wounder if someone could share their tuning setup. That would be great

  • high speed needle 4 turns out from closed, low speed needle 1and3/4 turn out from closed, idle gap on barrel looking into carb no more than 1mm. I live in hawaii where its 80 to 90 degrees and a little humid. This gave me a good starting point. after that follow tuning instructions. good luck!!!

  • my dad is running 4 2/3 on his 3.3 i took my out and put in a picco

  • i see that the 3.3 and the os moded had the same top speed.

  • man that o.s. .18 will beat any POS traxxas engine!!!!!

  • you bet

  • Mmm both have their advantage and handling. Most will say the savage is a better basher,

for me i dont like to work on a savage for repair, never really had issues with my revo.

I cant really answer that question without getting flamed by savage guys or revo guys.... its a personal opinion both will be fun and durable depending how you use and maintain them :)

  • cool vid, i have seen most of yours and they are all great, but one question what would you say is more durable, bettter jumper and better all around a savage or a revo???

  • yes :)

  • Have u seen the v8 rc cars by conley on you tube?

They r production v8 engines of about 100cc and they sell cars and engines with superchargers and different carb sizes etc,

    they cost thousands though!

  • Yes, but im not really interested in spending much and go slower.. i dont like bling bling. thats a cool project though... :)

  • vespas use the crank cut out idea.

Like disc valves these can have the opening duration tuned, often closing later, much scope for porting on these little things?

I imagine 0.5mm will make a huge difference!

sometimes engines get to revvy and bog down.

  • Exactly, tiny change can make it faster, or slower :D

  • Id love to see inside the cylinder, look at ports.

I had a glow engine as a kid, it had piston port induction- piston controled inlet, 2 slots as transfers and exhaust was just open cylinder ports!

Does yours have transfer passages like motorcycle or slots, like a vespa funnily enough!

There r some supercharged engines similar to yours on youtube, I would have thought most charge would blow out of exhaust?

I know they make really nice expansions for rc cars!

  • Yest he superchargers dont work on the nitro, because of that, nitro engines have transfers port, boost port and exhaust port(s) and some have "guide" ports... near the transfers

  • I meant superchargers on 2 strokes as a whole dont work well, is that what u meant or does nitro fuel not work well with superchargers?

  • is that a hellfire body u r using

  • great video

    (CHRIS661)

i see the sign on the road say 50mph

u goin to get a speed ticket lol..

  • lol never noticed that haha ill watch for the cops! :D

  • Thx Jer!!

  • Nice as always buddy!

  • Thank you :)

Sorry i tend to keep my mods for me, spent lot of time to trial and error in the past

so i dont want people to just copy what i do... But i seen your video you seem to know how to mod them :D I dont know exactly what ill do next, i think ill install my Picco .28 again in my revo to beat my top speed...

    Thx!

  • cool vid! can i find your mods?

what is the next in youtube?
