  • Jane ist nicht hässlich, sie hat ein wunderschönes Gesicht wie aus einem alten Gemälde.

  • I love this version of the movie so much better than the new one that came out a few years ago.

  • Am I the only one to think that when these people dance, they resemble either goats and rubber balls at the same time?

  • @lordviorio What blunts are you smoking?

  • Mama, kitty and lydia - the stupid trio :P

  • @rasta13820 i dont get what your trying to say now, pride and vanity???

  • @rasta13820 im talking about dialogue thats in this movie but not in the book being extra, not the opposite. of course original dialogue isnt extra, the dialogue started to be more from the book further into the movie so it got better, but i wasnt liking the extra lines they threw in at the beginning of the movie because it didnt seem natural after reading the book so many times and i suppose to me it didnt seem like something austen would have written in

  • @BubblegumPopMusic13

    Like "pride" and perhaps "vanity"?

  • im not sure i like all the extra dialogue theyre throwing in, but im sure itll grow on me...i think emma thompson should just handle all the jane austen movies, she does such good screenplays and her version of sense and sensibility was amazing :)

  • @BubblegumPopMusic13 Why should dialogue that is in the book but not in the movie be considered extra? Do you also feel that Mozart's music has too many notes because the human ear can only hear so many notes?

  • This Mrs Bennet reminds me entirely too much of my mother...

  • 15 people were swooning so much at the sight of Colin Firth that they missed the "like" button... we can't blame them.

  • Ah... Six hours of Pride and Prejudice. Just after finally watching the 1980 version.

  • I actually really like this Elizabeth! At first I wasn't sure. I love the book and 2005 movie. Maybe I'll like this series also! But Jane isn't very pretty.....sorry!

  • @GingerEckley818 This is my ultimate favourite version of P&P. At first I didn't think Jane was pretty either, and I had a hard time getting used to the style of the dresses and hair. But the more times I watched it (and I've watched it A LOT), the more I started to like the things I didn't before. And now I can see why Jane would be considered as a beauty. :) And this is the best Elizabeth ever, hands down. Jennifer Ehle is an amazing actress.

  • I still prefer the movie, but this one sticks more on Jane Austen's novel.

  • dude...Charlotte is pretty!

  • one of the younger girls, Lydia, is the same actor as Dorcas Lane in Larkrise to Candleford :o

  • Who said that Jane is ugly here????? they must be blind !

  • I think that this version of P&P is more realistic than the American, new one and I love the actors, mostly Lizzie a lot, but I can identify better with the newer version, where Keira Knightley plays Lizzie

  • Wow the Miss Bennetts are drop dead gorgeous, very markingly beautiful.

  • This is by far my favorite version. It was so detailed and the acting was amazing.

  • I wonder what Mr Bennet saw in Mrs Bennet that moved him to marry her? Why would any man? lol

  • @shane1marryme you're plain yuck!

  • 6:12 Bingley was all like, darn, need to go slap some sense into that guy. Excuse me ma'am.

  • but i dont think jane is pretty though...she looks plain and flaccid..Like those giant nordic women....i expected a great beauty out of her

  • Ugh, Mrs. Bennett isso annoying! She definitly matches the character in the book. Elizabeth loks just like th girl on the cover of the book!

  • Jane looks like something out of a painting!

And Lizzy is very beautiful in her own way - she has the sweetest smile I have ever seen.

  • I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Mr. Darcy and Colin Firth. I know I am a fan girl. Lizzie is by far my favorite though.

  • Darcy looks scared when Mrs. Bennet calls for him. :)

  • I love Lydia's 'Save your breathe to cool your porridge, I will tell mama!'

  • Although Mrs. Bennett is annoying, she does love her children enough to want the best for them.

  • lydia looks like a man

  • Darcy at 5:45 is hilarious.

  • I think both Lizzie and Jane are pretty.

  • how did they get their boobs so perky back then!?!?!

  • @hermyone98

    it's called a corset many of them couldn't breathe:P

  • @hermyone98 Bone bras were very helpful in that period, but I wonder if they were a bit uncomfortable?.

  • every thing out of the mothers mouth is something embarassing?

  • is a man only handsome to the mother if he has at least 5000 pounds a year?

  • @JennaEquation1997 yes. and likes to dance.

  • @JennaEquation1997 Sadly, yes, something like that... She want her girls to marry rich some say for the love of her children some say partially for the money she can mooch.

  • Yes the mother may have a voice like Mrs. piggy except for the fact that the voice of Mrs. Piggy is actually done by a Man! haha quite contradictory! :)

  • Jane's voice is so pretty

  • Great video.

  • Of all the girls I believe I like Lydia the least... she's just too dumb... and materialistic..

  • This version is the best. The atmosphere is just so fitting and you have to love the actors

  • Wow the couple at @2:20 is the same exact couple in "What A Girl Wants"

    That is so strange. haha

  • With Mrs Bennet as a mother I would put myself up for adoption...

  • I absolutely love this film! I'm also so impressed by Abraham Lincoln showing up at 7:51 to play the flute...lol. ;)

  • if Mrs. Bennet's laughter wasn't so annoying, it might be evil. like a movie villain if the bad guy is retarded.

  • @ronaldinhoooo ahahah i agree with you...she does look allot like Meryl Streep

  • @ronaldinhoooo ahahah yes i agree with you..she does look like merly streep

  • I loved how Mr. Bennet kept waiting quietly for the right moment to say "I'm sorry to hear that" :)

  • I think people will tend to prefer the version that they are most familiar with; that is, the one they see first. However, without seeing either version but only having read the book, Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy does seem intuitively natural.

  • Goodness, I just loathe their clothes and how..'straight' they are. I like the fashion of later years, with the wider skirts.

  • Mmm Colin Firth as Mr Darcy :P

  • @teeheehee0 i can't imagine another one playing his role!!!!!! even in Bridget Jones, he was perfect in Darcy!! for me Darcy is Colin Firth :)

  • @oranaise311318 I know he is actually perfect for him... the Mr Darcy in the recent version definately wasnt as good as him :)

  • @teeheehee0 yeah, i prefer Mr.Collins, Mr.Wickham, and Mr.Bingley in this version too!!!! they are more convincing or at least i've always imagine them like in this version!! especially Mr.Bingley who seems childlish in 2004 version!!

  • @oranaise311318 me too, I prefer this version anyway... I think Elizabeth is better in this one as well :D

  • I spy Abraham Lincoln at 7:52.

  • mona lisa smile at 6:50....!

  • Lol at 1:47, human head lights for the carriage...lol.

  • I think that the woman who plays Mrs. Bennet is Gavin's mother in 'Gavin and Stacey'. Useless comment, I know...

  • Mrs Bennett = the reason it took men 2,000 years to invent the hearing aid ;-)

  • this version is much more happy and enthusiastic than the 2005 version, but i love them both! :)

  • It's amazing that ms bingle is Aunsten decendant

  • I love that the women aren't stick skinny.

  • Mrs. Bennet, is very funny. She makes me LOL's....

  • @Sunsetmello Is it sad that she reminds me of my own mother when she decides she doesn't like someone? It's very embarrassing.

  • well, one thing is sure. In all versions (specially 1995 and 2005), Mrs. Bennett has the same annoying attitude but funny.

  • y does bingley' sister have to be so ugly

  • @ranstafle Thats mean..... :)

  • if looks could kill...the look mr. darcy gives mrs bennett: ooh!

  • although i dont like all the characters in the version, i do whole heartedly ♥ mr bingley and mr bennett. they are just perfect!

  • Mr. Bingley is so cute! I love him =D

  • The best movie ever!

I can watch it over and over, every day of my life, with no pause.

    A truly brilliant screening.

  • i hate the mother!!! arrrggghhhh the nagging!

  • Mrs. B: "Oh my dear Mr. Bennet! Nothing you say shall ever vex me again."

Mr. B: "I'm sorry to hear it."

    He is killingly funny! xD

  • amazing movie

  • @sarahfina1996 haha hello sarah

  • @yvetteclaire lol yvette haha r u comming tomorrow????? This is such an annoying scene to do :(

  • @yvetteclaire yvette?? lol small world :)

    'tis rose, btw...

    stuff this english thing :(

  • @TardisOMG haha omg it is a small world! I just saw Sarah G here too. Haha lol I'll add you :)

  • Mrs. Bennett is so annoying!

She's freaking out my poor nerves!

  • omgosh mrs bennet is annoying yet i love her character!!

  • Basically I imagine the young Mrs Bennett just like Lydia

  • The guy playing the at 7:53 looks like Abraham Lincoln. lol

  • I love the dad XD

  • woah the woman who plays mr. bingly's sister plays colin firth's fiance in what a girl wants with amanda bynes....weird

  • Jane and Mr. Binilly look related, no wonder they act together so well...

  • @PrayerWarrior4 Its Mr Bingley :-)

  • dancing was so much more fun back then

  • OMG Mary looks like a man or a reall really old woman!!

  • I feel so sorry for Mary... :P

  • Lol mrs Bennett is like "thank the gentleman Jane" so emarrasing!! Lizzy is like momm!

    What a Mother!

  • this version of pride & prejudice is so much like the book!!!

    i love it!!!!

  • I love the brilliant, quirky looks she makes (6:41) almost for her own enjoyment. She's a brilliant Elizabeth Bennet!!!

  • At fist when I saw the character I was like hmm??, but as i keept watching it u really do understand the whole IDea and luv this movie so much, and I haven't even read the book, I think that after this I don't think I'll b impressed of the movie. 5*

  • I love both the recent movie version and this version. They both have so many wonderful elements. The movie is so artistic and romantic, and here we get to hear so much of Austens Brilliant work. I'm so torn ;)

  • I love this Version, the actors are great and you fall in love with the characters. the Costumes and homes are great too.

  • @goodkitty8 I actually got to visit a bunch of the houses from this and the 2005 version. They were gorgeous!

  • @jennyla5 I am so Green with Evny Right Now!!! I wish we I could see them too. :)

  • Ugh, the sideburns. D:

  • "Have a little compassion on my nerves" :D Alison Steadman is brilliant as always! :)

  • hard to believe real-life Lydia is older than Jennifer Ehle

  • wow you can really see if the gents dress to the left or right.

  • The mother has a voice like Miss Piggy ;-)

  • @lapislazuli7 Exactly what I was thinking. She reminds me of Miss Piggy in A Muppet's Christmas Carol

  • So I am not the only one... ;-)) Very enjoyable!

  • @lapislazuli7 HA HA HA that's true!

  • OMG... the mother is so embressing....

  • The oldest sister looks like the frikken MonaLisa!

  • This is far better than that awful hollywood one! Beautifully cast, nothing can top it.

  • Rosamund and Keira fit perfectly in 2005 version than this ladies ...

  • agreed they the ones in this look too old

  • if she walks even half or one quarter as much as the movie and book lead us to belive, she would have a tan, either in summer or winter. How can she be so white

  • @stickitupyourasteric

Its called hats and sleeves and long dresses. She covers her skin up. while outside. As was the custom for all ladies back then

  • lets see wee often see her with hands exposed face with out a brim sunlight on her face now come on you cant stay lill white and go for long walks it just isnt done I do have a life just like you

  • @actorgirl316 Well i guess hats and and long sleeves are a weak argument as after my rebuttle you chose to run and hid.

  • you are really retarded. First, if you will WATCH the movie instead of criticising it, you will see that they mostly ARE wearing hats and sleeves when they go out for walks, etc. The ONLY time when they are not is when they are in their own YARD and not out for very long. she wears GLOVES when shes out for a long time too, keeping her hands white. Do your hw next time. it was MOST important to stay white back then. It was a sign of rank and beauty.

  • They were out in the yard for a short time lol how do u know that were u there. I stand by my statements, with that mom, wouldn't you be outside doing something.

  • umm. Again. HISTORY. second, when they are out in the yard, the ONLY time they go out is to take a SHORT walk around their garden, or when they are picking flowers. It's COMMON SENSE, which you don't seem to have, that Women, whos beauty is mostly determined by the beauty of their skin, would cover up when outside for a long time, and not worry about it when just out in the yard, picking flowers. Do your home work next time you want to have an intelligent convorsation.

  • ACTORGIRL316 ya you next time you use the word intelligent try and spell the next word as if you went to school. " intelligent convorsation" Lets see Lizzie loves to go out and walk every day so how could you assume that she walks out for two seconds then runs in the house. WHEN SHE WENT TO VISIT HER SISTER AND JUMPED IN THE MUD, HOW DO YOU ET THAT SHE IS WORRIED ABOUT LOOKING WHITE, YOU MUST NOT HAVE SEEN THE MOVIE.

  • hmmm. yep, my spelling sucks. as does your punctuation. But that's not the point. YOU must not have watched that movie bc when she DOES jump in mud, she had boots, a long dress, long sleeves, gloves, AND a bonnet on to cover her skin and keep it white, so i don't really see how you did anything with that but further prove my point. Not just that, but Bingley's sisters DID comment on how "tan" Lizzie was after being outside all summer, touring the lakes, so obviously it's very important.

  • Like i said before. Do your homework BEFORE trying to sound intelligent. otherwise you are just going to look as you do now: like a complete idiot who has nothing better to do w ur time but make up cyncial remarks that really have NO grounds. Congradulations

  • @actorgirl31 why do you get so angry over a silly youtube remark? I was reading your back and forth comments... and just thought this is the silliest fight I have ever seen!! Can you not express a dissenting opinion without cussing and using deragatory remarks? I get your'e 17, but come on, in the real world people who can't control their emotions are the least successful. just a thought, i'm really not trying to be an ass

  • hey, i'm sorry. you're probably right. I didnt realize i was cussing and using deragatory remarks, but im sorry. It just makes me mad when you have a movie/book like this one, and all someone can say about it is how the girl cant possibly be that white, and sounds like a drag queen. but you are right. and i am sorry.

  • @actorgirl31 Its all good. No need to apologize. I absolutely agree with your point of view. But you will run into thousands of people like "stickitupyourasteric" in your life!!!! Knowing how to deal with them will make you better off financially and socially. I have a sister your age... so I'm always giving advice... usually unsolicited :)

  • I liked our discussion Hope you are having a great day, I am. This is a great movie and on that we agree, so let me say its been nice talking to you.

  • The way she says im not engaged sounds like a drag queen or a 3 pack a day smoker

  • lies. she does not.

  • come on she has a really deep voice not in the rest of the movie just im not engaged ok

  • @stickitupyourasteric

you are really stupid. if this is really all you have to comment on, get a life. drag queen? really?

  • i think she sounds warm and gentle here

  • They're playing it soo well, I'm laughing my ass off everytime I see the first 1:45 with the freakish mother and the sarcastically dad it's lovely lol

  • shame the bbc doesn't make anything this good anymore

  • Have you seen the 2009 Emma? It's not quite as good as P&P but the best adaptation so far (Jonny Lee Miller does a great Knightley) and 2003 North & South is a favourite.

  • my GOD she is sooo embarassing.. i would have died right there if i was lizzy... how could she offer her daughters like thatttt

  • Loool, the mother's a tad but loony. But it's ok, she makes up for it in enthusiasm. =D

  • I love Mr. Bennett, he is just like my dad :)

  • u need to get out more the dialog is way to quick its like watching a speed reading contest this is art step back and get a new view

  • Mr Bennett should take to putting a drop or two of valium in Mrs Bennett's tea to calm her down. ha

  • @islandsylph LMAO

  • @islandsylph horse tranquilizer might work better!

  • This Mrs Bennett is definitely worse mother than Mrs Bennett 2004 version

  • Yes, the most recent Mrs. Bennett almost makes sense sometimes (!). She has some dignity. But I see the completely over the top and nonsensical version as closer to the novel.

  • the mother is funny with all her drama... :)

  • mrs bennett is just like I imagine her from reading the book ... great performance

  • the mom is a little bit....crazy

  • Elizabeth looks like an older version of ellen page

  • I was just thinking that!

  • @uni0000

    haha : they're booth so pretty :P

  • I think Elizabeth is definitely prettier than Jane, or any of the others, in this version.

  • Was the woman who plays Mrs Bennett in harry potter? Her voice sounds so familiar! Please someone! Help me out!

  • no she wasnt

  • Miss Bingley needs eyebrow wax like no tomorrow.

  • Mrs. Bennet reminds me my mom in some way. ;/

  • if anyone has seen Little house on the prairie, Mrs Bennett totally reminds me of Harriet Olsen.

  • You are so right!!! I hadn't noticed that til now! She's just as annoying as Harriet Olsen.

  • I LOVE Mrs. Bennet! XD

    She's SO hysterical...

  • I really don't like Mis Benet

  • Jane Austen is so talented that I love all her creations. among them, P&P is my fav
