  • is it still a v6 ?!?!?!?!?!?!?

  • I'm still spewing that I didn't set up my video camera inside the dynocell for this run. It was last run of the weekend and I couldn't be stuffed by then. I did get video of Jake, Arby and Garry Popes car though.

  • The driver is always aware off the safety of the car and the owner is next to the operator so all he has to do is tap them they stop instantly the car was still well within the limits of what was requested by the owner This is one of the most controlled dyno shootout in the world AFR can be seen driver there is a lot of other things that come into driving the cars. Jake did a great job in building this car and Guss Thanks to both of them we had a new record set at the Summernatts 2008 ...

  • I can say it was a scary ride inside the car and there was a lot left in it shame it did damage to the trans tailshaft and diff....

  • Keep in mind the power lost through the auto here... this was much more then 1939hp :).. and with a blow through carby setup. Respect Jake, AFR's were better then most of the other EFI setups.

  • The failure was in the extension housing of the transmission, lunching the tailshaft and spewing oil onto the exhaust system. The owner and operator are well aware of the dangers, thats why the car is in a cage. It's all about setting records with big numbers.

    Thanks for watching

  • hey man is it just me or do the people that do these power runs not give a fuck about other peoples cars. I have watched so many of these dyno shootouts vids and a hell of alot of them just blow up catch fire what ever do they not wath AFR and shit when doing it.

  • from what I know he killed the gearbox not the engine.

The guy running it, should always be able to see the AFR.

  • at this level, people would enter knowing there is a chance that something will let go.

  • Na these guys know what they're doing. As has already been mentioned, with power this big reliability is obviously a big problem. Plus, the owners will often run a pretty powerful/on the limit tune to get the power, and naturally, thing can go wrong :)

  • It is the owner of the vehicle in the driver's seat for these runs, not the event organisers. The drivers are the ones not backing off, they blow their own cars up.

  • are you sure it is the owners in the vehicles cos the ones i have seen the owners are not even in the cage. I know there is a reliability issue with that much power but it seems not many come away still in a drivable condition thats all. Was just a question not having a go at them

  • Good Point. I just checked my facts, the owners are sitting in the passenger seat but they do call the shots, they say back off or keep going. I think they just get carried away showing off for the crowd and don't want to stop.

  • yeah true would be easy to get carried away with i guess. If you got that much cash to start with whats a blown engine

  • Actaully the owner wasn't even in the cage for this run, the dyno operator was in the drivers seat and the cars tuner was sitting in the passenger seat. The gearbox let go which then siezed the tailshaft which also let go under the strain. I was right there when it all happened.
