You guys, out in Southern California, are lucky to have nice riding weather most of the year. My baby is tucked-away for the winter right now, but I can't wait for spring to roll around. Thanks for the tips and ride safe fellows.
Its hard when you are stationary ...but when you are actually riding and in a turn , the centrifugal force will actually push you down on to your seat...:)
@mumploggbong Don't know what you ride? But take it easy if your two months in. This is all accurate and good info but no need to try and drag a knee or anything. Specially on the street.
@Srirachaa NOOBLETS> The more you counter steer the more you turn. Your bike will automatically turn over when you counter steer. Just remember push rigth to go right and push left to go left. Counter steering is really what fucks people up they turn the bike like a bycycle. They think you turn the wheel they way you want to go. recipe for insta low side crash.
A really well written book for new riders is called "Total Control: High Performance Street Riding Techniques." I recommend you check it out. I learned a lot from it when I started riding last year. Your local library should have a copy of it.
I'm glad your being trained for better riding. I learned over time by first setting up position on straight lines ( you have to be carefull though because the bike will steer in the direction you are hanging off ) It will help you learn how to setup before the turn, and control the bike. Next step is to do it during a turn... You wont be dragging knee, but your muscles will remember the feel of the steering and the balance of the bike.
@submissions72 You should always ride on the balls of your feet with your heel pressed against the guard. Balls of your feet on the pegs gives you more leverage to change position and control pressure on the pegs, and grab the tank with your thighs.
Hey mark what kind (brand) camera mount are you using? I plan on getting one now that I have a decent camera. I was thinking about getting the gopro system but got a good deal on a nice camera I i took it.
its great to have friends like this that are willing help you out. never be to proud to seek advice. its good to get imput from other riders it realy helps. my problem before i had some bad habits that were hard to stop but i just listened to the pro that were teaching at track day school. if you already have bad habits it so hard to change but once you do man it takes riding really to the next level. I been doing track days for 8 years now and still I find myself seeking advice and learning.
Before you try any of that shit I recommend getting some FULL LEATHERS! Just remember TOE KNEE CHIN and KISS you knuckles. Look through the turn. Great tutorial though.
@rheaMDC21 When I get done with a track days weekend my legs are really swore because like your friends say not using those muscles very often. One thing I would like to add would be that when you are on your way to standing the bike upright again roll on the throttle a little it will help stand the bike up easier. and use your feet more not just your arms when ur cornering push the inside foot down on the peg it helps in turning the bike.
it is always weird when you do it on the stand

Marc, I bet a "thigh master" would come in handy to get the fella's leg strength up, so he can lock in and snap back up into center riding position.
