I am falling in love with his earliest records of Bach.I had his wtc but realize what a super mind he had. I like him more sometimes than Gould who likes to make music new !
I listened to Gulda in the 50's and 60s. Hearing him anew now 50 years later allows me the priviledge to understand what I was missing then. A true genius.
Oh, wow. I played this on marimba when I was getting my music degree, but not nearly this fast. I think this piece is great, but this performance leaves me astounded!
Have you tried the Argerich performance too ? Not the one from the Concertgebouw (EMI) which I think is played really too fast, but the one from DG recorded in early 80s... Also very impressive.
greatest sadness for me about Argerich is that her Bach is SO FAB and yet she plays/played so little of it. that single Bach LP on DG (1980) is imho one of the greatest Bach sets ever recorded.
This and of Pogorelich are the best interpretations of this piece. Really beautiful!

You wish the middle section were a bit louder? Now, that is hilarious. I am still laughing.

Non sempre convince Gulda nelle sue interpretazioni, ma qui per me supera persino Gould!

Clear as a bell. Exact as a Swiss watch. And then it's like having your feet tickled. Delightful!

I love his interpretation of this: I like it fast and wish he'd speed the prelude up a few notches too!

I wish the middle section were just a bit more loud. But that's just how I would approach it. It is excellent. Hurray to Bach and to Gulda.
