I know I'm going to get thumbs down for this but I will say it anyway.

Maiden toured a heck of a lot, and Bruce's voice suffered a lot. Compare the performance of Hallowed be Thy Name in Hammersmith '82 or Long Beach '85 to his performance in Chicago '87. He always had his good voice but due to the amount he used it, and the difficulty of most of Maiden's songs, his voice seemed damaged in the '86-'88 live performances.

He needed time away from Maiden. His voice regenerated almost perfectly.

Yeah he went solo in '93 and returned in '99. He did some sporadic solo events with his old solo band in 2002 though.

Just goes to show you his voice is like a fine wine. Better with age.

I personally think Bruce's voice was at its best in the 90s. Definitely legendary now though. Especially when they play Aces High live.

I tell you if they come back to Toronto I'm buying more tickets. Instantly.

In POM and Powerslave tours it was like technical problem, in SIT and SSOASS tours he was ill... In NPFD tour he was in flames. Great performances though he was sometimes ill. In FOTD tour his performances were poorest, but he performed some songs better than in lately 80's. Like Where Eagles Dare and this version (Raising Hell) of Hallowed Be Thy Name is too very good.

His voice is excellent on the Hammersmith show in '82 but I'm gonna have to disagree with you on the Long beach show. To me that show really doesn't do Bruce's voice any justice, he did a dire job of aces high, he was missing notes throughout the show and he could barely keep up with the rest of the band during Hallowed be thy name. I know everyone hails it as a classic and I agree that the setlist is flawless, but you could really tell that they'd been on the road for too long.
