  • anyone that gets a standing ovation from sandi patty well that says it all ha

  • this group is great, one of the greatest of all time, the tenor is so humble and the best ever, its' really hard to find anything souding so great.

  • This is one darn good song too. You have a great selection of videos, thanks for taking the time to put them up!

  • Is that Sandi Patty bowing to Jay Parrack?

  • @NateAlex10 yes it is

  • i mean really sandi patty giving u the standing bow.. doesn't get much better then that

  • Jay learned at his Daddy's knee! (Johnny Parrack was the greatest all time tenor, IMO!

  • Jay is awesome, sounds just like Johnny P, his Dad.

  • Well, it's possible to watch that ten times in a row...or more. WOW

Hoover4000: Thanks! I have SIMPLY learned to just click on your posts and expect it to be great. And, it is normally very HIGH quality! I hadn't known much about Gold City, came by your post, and now have seen several of their videos.

  • Great tenor and bass, just a great group

  • i knw dis song by heart =D nd luv it ;D

  • Gold City is absolutely amazing!

  • Is that Tim Parton playing the piano?

  • and look at Jason Crabb at 1:57 lol... how he is grown up :)

  • i can hit Jay's High note at the end

  • @VideoFanatic461 That's a G#5 isn't it? That's amazing! Sometimes I wish I had a tenor voice. I can hit it in my falsetto. Does that count? :P

  • @Heavy123890 I've been told it's always falsetto for guys when they get up that high. The thing is, Jay (the tenor here) makes it sound good either way.

  • @Heavy123890 he is actually singing it in his falsetto too, but he has built up the strength in his falsetto so that it has more power

  • @Heavy123890 i think hes hitting it in falsetto as well......

  • @Heavy123890 well i do sing tenor but i can do the high note with my head voice. If you got a head voice, you can hit any note

  • 2:05 WTF a full voice F above high C OMG is that dude a eunuch or something i love this group

  • Jay is great i love his voice but i am sorry but the best tenor that Gold City ever had was Brian Free but that is my opinion Jay is great though you can see how he gets into it

  • @unklejay83 brian was great no doubt but wow jay did awesome.

  • Man, does this tenor have a range of voices within his tenor....

  • Romans 4:25 "who was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our justification".

  • That must have been Buddy Greene @ 3:09 ? The ultimate god of harmonica players?

  • Hoover, I'm a HUGE Gold City/Southern Gospel fan and I wanted to say thanks for posting so many awesome clips...bless you my friend!!

  • Hey isn't that Ivan Parker..... echo!

  • Best Gold City formation

  • Amen! God is always on time for me. He is always with me even when I forget. Thank you Lord Jesus for believing in me and giving your life so that I may live. I love you Jesus. YOU and you alone are my one and ONLY Savior!

  • They are very much great, But i sure do miss the old guys, it's only Tim Riley left, they need these guys back (Tim Riley, Mike LeFevre, Ivan Parker, Brian Free and Gary Jones) I miss them.

    God Bless Them All though

    ~Hunter~

    Check out my video's

  • Hink, it's hard to disagree. They were certainly my favorite version of Gold City, and therefore the best IMO. Perhaps of all time; certainly in that conversation.

  • tyty you "lol" to much lol but I wish I could sing as low as Tim dose (I sing bass but no where close to the way he dose)!

  • In my humble opinion this particular version of God City, with these four, are the greatest Southern Gospel quartet to ever perform. Jay Parrack may be the greatest tenor of this era and Tim Riley is the greatest bass singer of all time. Wish they would get back together.

  • @DaddyHink I totally agree, they are awesome!

  • @DaddyHink

I agree, this version of the group is ALL TIME!

  • @DaddyHink my favorite for ever was George.. but that being said Tim wow he has been the best for a while now and can he still hit those low notes with great power.. none of this new stuff well don't want to start anything so as long as they are serving the master its all good and i will enjoy

  • who is playin the piano it looks like Tim Parton

  • ht3696 that is Tim playing the piano

  • i think gold city then and now ae awesome but i think jay parrack is a better tenor then brian free

  • @tyty13428 i don't know about that but he is good

  • if anybody has the gold city song "pray" i would love it if they would post it. thanks

  • is that ivan parker at 3:03?

  • yes

  • i really like this arrangement of gold city.... but i believe Brian Free, Ivan Parker, Mike LeFevre, and Tim take the cake when it comes to the best quartet arrangment.

i haven't seen anybody, yet, that i would say are better than those four

  • I totally agree, the best southern gospel quartet, i believe ever. Really nice people too

  • jay parrack is an awesome tenor lol he just amaes me everytime i watch this video i love that high voice lol i wish i could sing like that

  • haha lol the bass is awesome lol but forget about him lol listen to that tenor lol he was getting on it lol what an awesome group lol that tenor just amazes me lol i wish i could sing that high

  • tim riley best bass!

  • Jay Parrack is the man in terms of high voice... He rocks...

  • In my opinion Gold City, with these 4, were the best Southern Gospel group of their time. I miss these 4 as Gold City. They could really rock!!

  • @kanaan00 Yeah i know what u mean!!! but the new Gold City is pretty awesome there selves!!! i thought when Tim Riley left that they would never find a good bass again but what do u know they did!!!

  • i love this song!

  • Did Jay mouth "I'm gonna mess up" before he started singing? Looks like it.

  • In my opinion, this foursome is the best southern gospel quartet during my generation (im only 45)... during the late 80's and most all the 90's, I followed southern gospel closely and was a part of a very amateur quartet ( I *tried* bass)... Ive met and had the pleasure of seeing many quartets, so that's saying alot... those were the best times of my life, and I miss them dearly... what awesome feelings and memories =]

  • What an awsome short B5! Wow, he can put some sound behind it too!

  • Wow, I can't even hit that note in my falsetto. Bravo, sir.

  • Man I miss these guys!!

    I love their music

  • ;0)

  • I was watching the NQC 8 and thought wow Gold City really sounds different... Now I see why they have totally changed. I miss the old Gold City.

  • oH WoH i like it!!

  • wre did jay go?

  • has someone ans your ?, according to the singing news mag. Jay is a music dir. for a Bapt Church that is in AL. or GA.but it seems like it was in GA. sorry just noticed the next post.

  • i believes its his home town in arkansas

  • where's he from??

  • I think Jay is one of the all time best tenors next to Danny Funderburk. Jay also sounds the best doing a high note like that, but thats just in my opinion!

  • man, I remember how I felt when the "classic GC" lineup split... now I miss this one too! :(

  • did yall see Sandi Patti bowin down to Jay at the end of the video? That says alot about how he can hit the high notes!!

  • You got that Right

  • Who's playing the Piano?

  • Tim Parton. He plays for Legacy Five now

  • That is Tim Parton... He can really play

  • Isn't that Ivan Parker (former Gold City lead tenor) at 3:04?

  • yes it is

  • @otphd Ivan sang the lead vocals for Gold City. Brian Free was their tenor during that time.

  • The bass singer is gone too? And

the tenor? Did they join other groups?

    Are they solo?

  • they bass tim riley retired and the tenor quit

  • I Think Tim (Bass) Retired. And Jay is the Miniter of music of a church in Alabama.

  • i love this song so much and god too

  • mark trammell first

  • can someone tell me the name of the alto?

  • the tenor is jay parrack...you're kind of right, though, he's basically an alto.

  • i don't know why some people say he is a tenor, because with that voice so high i would clasify him as an alto.

  • you wouldn't classify a very high voice as an alto..alto/baritone is sang lower than soprano/lead and tenor, but higher than bass...alto's don't sing high like that, tenors are here for that kind of singing...therefore, he is a tenor

  • I like the first tenor..........bass hes to good

  • only one in the group now is the lead singer all the others have changed over two of them now currently are former members of the anchormen quartet out of goldsboro nc

  • Lucky me I've met all of them. :)

  • yes very lucky you :(

  • What a great group that was and the

    song I just love !!! <3<3<3

  • im 18 and of course im not into gospel as much as I was when I was a small boy..I grew up on it tho..my granpa and daddy were great. Jay Parrack became my small town churches music leader and I was shocked..they're great

  • Who's the tenor? He's not in this group anymore right?

  • So i guess it goes, from left to right, Lead tenor, tenor, baritone, and bass

  • In this case yes, but sometimes the order is reversed. I have no idea how the order is set, because I have seen the same quartet use both styles. I think traditionally it is the tenor on the left and the bass ends it on the right.

  • first tenor, second tenor (lead), baritone and bass

  • That soprano singer is possibly the best I've EVER heard. Absolutely amazing!!!

  • soprano if for women only. males are tenor

  • ;0) ;0) ;0)

  • wow, when it comes to range, i think jay has david beat, but when it comes to tone, david's got it. its just a preference i guess. amazing voices the both of them

that was an "A" i believe, btw

  • i love their music. i have a CD of theirs i play at work all day long...love it

  • Oh ! Boy ! will Heaven be GREAT with all these southern gospel singers.

I want to have them in my home in heaven and have cold watermelon and a sing-a-long !!

This world is about all I can take !!

  • I have been listening to southern gospel music as long as I can remember. The first time I heard Gold City was in Seminole OK at the ball feilds. Tim Riley sang a note so low that I could not hear it,but I felt it all over my body.

  • I saw them in Indiana in an outdoor concert. Tim hit that same note and the seats vibrated.... He's awesome!

  • Man, I used to own a number of their tapes. through the years, I have misplaced them but I've been trying to find the cd's of them. so far, I just have their "Acapella Gold" Cd. thanks for posting.

  • I have been listinning to southern gospel music for 30 years and have heard many groups but gold city is my favorite and tim riley is the best bass singer in this business in any music business period

  • Jay is awsome singing this and he goes to my church =)

  • This was really awesome...

    I still love the original:

Tim Riley, Mike Lefevre, Ivan Parker, and Brian Free, and Garry Jones (Taco).

That's back when there was less stacking in the background tracks... :)

  • Amen.

  • Jay Barrack sung tenor haha. He rocks

  • i think you mean Parrack.

  • Best toupee in gospel music.

  • Mr. Jeff Chapman-The greatest bass to have ever breathe !!!!!

  • Jay Parrack is at his absolute best. This is the best GCQ of all time (Jay Parrack (lead) Johnathan Wilburn (tenor) Mark Trammell (bartione), and Tim Riley (bass). I miss them!!!

  • These guys can realy get you moving. I wish they all could stay together.

Tim Riley hammers it and Jay Parrack is spectacular.

  • i love this song too

thanks hoover for givng me a lift

  • where can I get lyrics for these songs?

  • Hey hoover4000. What Gaither video is this clip from?

  • Tim Riley would be a wonderful addition to the Gaither Homecoming concerts, he'd definitely bring the bass section back to it's glory, no offence to Mike Allen, Gene McDonald and Tim Duncan, but Tim Riley would boost the bass' with his veteran presence.

  • Unfortionatly Tim Riley retired from singing :(

  • What's the name of the tenor? he is now one of my favorites with David Phelps

  • jay

  • Jay Parrack. He's the Minister of Music at Arbor Baptist Church in Fitzgerald, GA.

  • @hoover4000 Jay Parrack

  • High praise from the queen of the high notes. :)

  • @hoover4000 Jay (the (tenor) man) Parrack!

  • Jay Parrack (sp?). He's one of my all time favorites too. He stepped down from singing professionally a few years ago to raise his kids.

  • Sqquiid ----The bass singer is Tim Ryley

  • If you think they're awsome on video, you should have seen them live in concert. WOW!!!

  • That's ex-Cathedral quartet baritone Mark Trammell. His hair wasn't gray with the Cathedrals.

  • whats the bass guys name?

    this is an awesome video!!

  • Tim Riley, unfortunately he's now retired. Tim, like J.D. Sumner, was one of a kind.

  • his name is Tim Riley.

  • Mark Trammell! He has his own trio now!

  • thanks

  • i know three of these guys, i still dont know who the fourth is. i know jay, jonathan, and tim. whats the baritones name?

  • this version of Gold City is my favourite, the bass is immaculate, and the tenor's fantastic.

  • the tenor sings quite high here (high F I believe and even a high G# as an end note!!). This is higher than david phelps.

  • Hoover does it again. I love the Gold City and Gaithers and the Statlers and the Isaacs..etc...

  • That is by far one of the best tenors ever in Gospel music. Don't get me wrong, I still like David Phelps and Ernie Haase but there's just something about this guy that makes him special.

  • I love it!!!

  • They rate up there with The Cathedrals!!!

  • Makes me want to get on my feet and dance!! Awesome! Praise the Lord! The Bass singer is phenominal!!

  • Gold City es uno de mis cuartetos favoritos gracias por subir estos videos =) ...gran primer tenor ...

  • Jay was too amazing.

  • Jay Parrack no longer sings with Gold City. He is a Minister of Music at Arbor Baptist Church in Fitzgerald,Gaeorgia.I met his Dad at a funeral a fewe weeks ago. He sang "The Anchor Holds", "I Want To Stroll Over Heaven With You", and My Savior First of All.He sings better now than he ever has.

  • I just love all the videos you post Hoover, especially the three Gold City ones. I probably watch each one 2-3 times every day.

  • whats their tenor's name? is he still with them?

  • his name is jay parrack

  • Gold City is going to Rossville IN to sing with the Overtones September 28, 2007. I'll be there!!!!

  • You sure can tell Johny Parrack passed on more than just his blond hair to Jay. Time to make another album, son!

  • Gold City RULES!

  • Does anyone know which video this song is from? It is great!

  • it's from "what a time"

  • Anyone have the lordsmens on video to post?

  • So do I. I sing bass in a church quartet and we did this song a couple months ago. It is very fun!

  • i love this video

  • I adore Jay Parrack to no end. SG music miss you!

  • GOLD CITY RULES!!!

  • man, that guy has been given quite a voice!

  • great voice

  • Great Song!!

  • Love, love, love Gold city
