This happens surprisingly few times as most of the time they are on the 'T' and you have a free path to the ball. If you would have to 'shove' them out of the way to get to the ball then it will probably be a stroke to you.

Receiver can stand anywhere, however the normal access rules apply (i.e you still have to give the server access to the front wall and freedom to complete a swing). Receivers feet could be over the short line, but it'd be easy to lob the ball over their head then.

i started off on tennis, then added quite a bit of badminton to that. Playing squash now i am better then a lot of people just because i have the hand eye coordination and the wrist strength. Sure i dont know the technique as correctly as a pro, but it is still a lot easier because of the other racket sports i play.
