on my 3G, Navigon 1.6 takes 30sec to load up. How the hell did it load in 22sec on the 2g??

can you guys help me out? i did pretty much what the video did and i can't seem to get anything. bought the tomtom kit. made sure i had a gps fix with the tomtom tool. launched navigon and when i click show map it doesn't have a location. or when i try to go anywhere after i search a location it would just say "no gps signal, will resume when gps fix is found. would u like to see simulation or cancel?" and thats it. i'm on iphone 3g no data plan and in the video he has no service too
