haha your math skills are great....too bad you wasted your brain power on actually taking the time to write a responce about this video's quality when you should have used it to.....oh wait i'm doing the same thing lol by the way, you wouldn't have a dollar for every "pixal" because there is no such thing but if you wanted a dollar for every pixel that video was taken in then you would have 2 dollars. lol
@lethalkingpin Most commonly accepted pistol stance atm... notice I said Pistol stance atm is to stand with your shoulders squarely addressing the target, now, that being said... I don't think they had rapid firing a .454 in mind haha...
even though the brave mans hand hurt from thy hallowed man cannon what has been placed before him has now ceased to exist...well actually its a quivering pile of jelly....ew
If you can shoot 45LC out of a 454 casull pistol is it still as accurate? I heard the 45lc out of the Judge isnt very accurate because the barrel is a little bigger then the slug.
@MrButthead007 Yes it is just as accurate. The only difference between the two is the case lengh and the amount of powder in the shell. U can use .451 or .452 diam. bullets for either if your reloading. the larger diam. I use the larger .452 because it makes a tighter fit in the case.
@MrButthead007 The problems with .45 long colt lies in the taurus judge itself. The cylinder is so long on the judge (to accomodate the .410 shotshells) that there is a lot of space in front of the bullet when firing 45lc out of it. This allows the bullet to fly freely for about an inch before hitting the forcing cone. This makes things a little whacky. I never heard of issues with .45lc in the 454 casull revolvers. it's like using .38special in a .357.
This is an awesome gun. Rubber hand grips make a huge difference over the stock grip.
I will try to post a new video this spring with my new camera so you picture will be a lot more clear. For those that can't tell, this is a 6 shot Ruger SuperRed Hawk .454. And yes...this will kill anything worth killing like the judge!!!!
Taurus is making a new Judge that uses the .454. It'll handle the 3" inch .410 shotshell, .45LC, or .454 Casull cartridges. Plus it has 6 chambers rather than the traditional 5 of most Casull revolvers. Looks MEAN. I'm seriously considering getting one when they come out. 3 rounds of 000 buck at 5 pellets each and 3 rounds of .454 JHP will kill just about anything that would need killing, especially some punk carjacker or mugger.
Generally much bigger and also more powerful. More propellant in the cartridge as I understand it (I may be mistaken.) Kick probably equivalent to a .50 or greater. Stopping power also scaled up accordingly.
lol. i remember once at a gun store in montana the first time i saw the raging bull, i was in awe and had to hold it (i was like 14-5) the store owner took out a 454 bullet and a 44. the casull dwarfed it
Then again, i dont think i've ever shot 'regular' .45 long. My dad allways figured it was cheaper (and cooler) to make them yourself and with silver bullets.
@50CALHITMAN -- The 454 is considered more powerful than the .44 with roughly the same accuracy. It is an enhanced round that is must be fired from special made guns. Most reviewers of the round state that it is more kick than most gun enthusiats could compensate for. The round was designed for hunting elephants and bears.
VM custom model 83, the super red hawk as you mentioned and freedom arms made a limited release single action 6 shot in 454 i dont remember the exact model but a shooting buddy of mine had one. and i cant be sure they are not .45 LC but thats not what i was commenting about, i was referring to the comment above me from "therealbrains" saying because he heard six shots it couldn't be a 454 which is incorrect
Thanks for the reply. I have no clue what a VM 83 is so I'd have to look that up.
I know you didn't comment on if it might be .45 LC ammo, but I've seen a SuperRedHawk have the muzzle go flying high with a very experience shooter using his own .44 Mag handloads that I believe my friend loads to standard levels (not hot loads). So I find it hard to imagine how a .454 that has vastly more energy than a .44 manages to move far less in recoil.
in my opinion (keep that in mind) it all comes down to shooting form, im not saying your friend has poor form but i can fire my friends 500 mag with fairly minimal muzzle movement depending on the grip and shooting "stance" or form. and it also depends on the gun, the revolver in this vid has a very long barrel and some added weight due to the scope . i think it is completely feasible that he was firing 454 rounds, but the only one who knows for sure is the shooter
Yeah, the scope would control muzzle rise due to added weight, though now that you mention it that scope is useless when he's just firing fast as possible and the scope is effectivelly just a ballistic paper weight.
I assume your friend's 500 Mag comes with a muzzle brake. S&W and Taurus do. The only only other 500 Mag around I can think of is in the BFR line that doesn't port anything.
no it doesn't have a muzzle break or ported end it is a "snub nose" (but still pretty big) from an emergency Bear kit. and granted i really have to grip it up but i can keep the nose SOMEWHAT level when firing. that being said another friend of mine nearly broke his nose from the recoil throwing the gun back into his face the first time he fired it. so it really depends on the shooter and how prepared you are to fire a round like that.
or, it says that you're skilled enough to hunt with a handgun, can handle .454 recoil, and says that you're not a 15 year old douche whose balls have yet to drop.

They oughta make some automatic weapon in .454. I'd buy that over some AR 15 clone any day.

MrButthead007 I have a judge w/ 3in. barrel and 3 in. chamber that shoots 255 gr. bullet on top of 17.5 gr. of h110 very accurately.

I guess it all depends on the bullets you put in, the bigger the harder it kicks.

.44 mag is for weaklings man.
A .454 is about 2x a .45 long.
2.5x a puny .44 lol.

@peepeevagi you know the case of the casull is 0.1" longer then a .45 colt. It is alot more powerfull then a .44 but it isnt that big.

Ruger specifically makes their SuperRedHawks for rednecks then with cuts in the frame to accomodate scope mounting rings.
