  • You need to make more videos like this!

  • some look at jesus and begin to cry

i look at deep space and our world and i cry in joy

  • Truly inspiring, great video.

  • That was beautiful. Thank you.

  • Months later, this is still one of the most beautiful videos have ever seen. You have very real and true talent Andromedas. Thank you for all of your excellent work.

  • @oO0E I agree!

  • Dear Andromeda's Wake. Thank you for such inspiring videos.

You are wise beyond your years :-)

  • the universe is amazing

  • I have been watching your videos for a couple years and I have enjoyed every second. Your intellectual approach to the subject of atheism and religion is refreshing. I made an account on YouTube just to subscribe and so I could tell you one thing. Thank you.

  • I really find it absurd that people would believe that there's an invisible man flying in the sky looking to see who's doing right or wrong

  • @lewism1995

Let alone act like a thopughtpolice and judge you on thoughts that randomly spring to your mind.

  • This is one of the best videos I´ve ever seen. Truly beautiful. Well done mate. To me it was also a look at the stars to realize that our origins must be somewhere out there and certainly not in devine creation. Looking forward to more... But for now, I wish you a good night and a clear sky ;)

  • Although I am a christian, I must say I like his videos, even this one.

  • Furthermore, the author of this video has no rational justification to be adverse to anything done in the name of religion.

The preeminent proclivity of religiosity, theism etc. intrinsic to human nature as evidenced from earliest recorded history and overwhelmingly until this day would simply be non-transcendent purposed phenomena in effective manifestation, as would everything be if atheism were true.

What rational justification is there to be adverse to any natural phenomena displayed?

  • Andromeda, I miss you :'(

  • If your belief that God/s does not exist, thus atheism is true, then all knowledge acquired, accomplishments and experiences would be as if these, you, no one, and nothing had ever existed in the first place, if conscious existence ceases upon death.

Theist are inspired by the belief in a God capable of creating everything in it's unfathomable splendor.

The atheist best prospect is to never even know if their belief in non-transcendent purpose happenstance by naturalistic processes is true.

  • @LizardLeaps You assume knowledge, accomplishments and experiences are absolutes. They aren't.

  • @LizardLeaps "Theist are inspired by the belief in a God capable of creating everything in it's unfathomable splendor" that doesn't equals "true".

  • @DocStrange0123

Moreover, even if your belief that no God/s exists is true, then you wouldn't ever know it, if conscious existence ceases upon death, because it would be as if all knowledge ever acquired, accomplishments, experiences etc., you, no one, and nothing had ever existed in the first place.

Conversely, you could only know if you're dead wrong.

  • @DocStrange0123

    "Correct; so what?"

"So" you would never know that your belief by FAITH of everything coming to be through self-propagated non-transcendent purposed coincident happenstance by presupposed naturalistic mechanistic processes was true, even if it really were.

  • @LizardLeaps And what's the problem about it exactly?

  • @DocStrange0123

    "No, that only means..."

Yes,"that only means that" everyone upon their death, would consciously cease to exist until the last person to ever live ceases to physically exist, for which it would effectually be as if no one and nothing had ever existed in the first place.

Conversely, you would only know if your belief by FAITH in everything, by nothing you could know, for nothing that you just don't know is dead wrong, if conscious existence continues post death.

  • Amazing

  • I just nominated this video for the Skeptic Awards 2011 survey. Google it and vote if you like.

  • Wow. Deep.

  • A lot of people turn to religion when they have a sick or dying family member, friend or loved one. It allows them believe that, that person, even though suffering now, will be happy in death.

  • @jimbeam455 Even the atheist does it. So that tells us something does it not?

  • Wonderful video. Well done!

  • The religious delusion is the biggest weight on the shoulders of the beautiful, intricate, natural world we are so lucky to be a part of.

In the famous words of Richard Dawkins- "Isn't it enough to see that the garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?"

Everybody needs to believe in something in this imperfect world of hate, war, famine and hardship...But the belief in yourself, the vast capabilities of your brain, and the things you can ac

  • @ramdizzle1989 I completely agree, but the quote is from Douglas Adams, Dawkins just repeated it in his memory because they were good friends

  • @ramdizzle1989 But isn't it more intelligent to find out what the absolute truth is than having an assortment of beliefs that are nothing more than self-deception and delusion. For instance, I can believe the sky at night is nothing more than a painting. I have a right to believe that and you, if you believe in human rights, will respect my right no matter how barmy it is to you. But wil it help me? Of course not, because the truth is entirely different. So it is up to you to show me the truth.

  • @ramdizzle1989 But then the onus will be upon you to prove that you are right and I am wrong and for you to do so without abusing me because of what I believe no matter how ridiculous it is in your view right? If people did that instead of throwing abuse at each other like a bunch of schoolchildren then we might start to get closer to the truth don't you agree?

  • Astronomy is what made me conscious...

  • @SURFNEWSTV THE EVIDENCE IS YOU. Remember that every time you lay your head on a pillow.

  • This is very beautiful and powerful.

  • After several years of watching YouTube videos and searching for a well spoken statement for atheism, I find this video most succinctly and beautifully describes the correct view of humanity and the cosmos. Well done, AndomedasWake!

  • I'm an atheist and my life is empty. But the emptiness in not correlated with me being an atheist.

  • @r0galik So, what do you think it is in correlation to? And is there anything that will be able to fill the hole that is deep within?

  • @ValRoyD Ugh, I cringe when I think about revealing something on public forum, so if you're really interested, pmme

  • This is my concious mind creating a comment to amplify the message of what we already know

  • I keep coming back to this video. It's eloquently written, beautifully put together and truly inspiring. I can't help but to get frustrated with some theists when they feel that my life is meaningless because of my lack of belief in God, and I can't seem to put it into words that they could understand exactly why my life *isn't* empty or meaningless precisely because I have no belief in God.

The thoughts on this video are exactly the kinds of thoughts I wish I could articulate to those theists.

  • If E.T. came to earth and was shown this to represent human beings, we would be honored throughout the universe. If you showed him a video on religion...

  • Very nice vid

  • I love your voooooice

  • Wow! Atheist think the sun sets into the sea (00:40)! Have you guys ever heard of Science? LMAO! Morons!

  • @hasacra oh actually theres evidence to the contrary. Physics explains the night sky and you Hypothesizing something thats never been supported by evidence doesnt mean a thing.

  • when I look up at the night sky I see the spectacular creation of my God and savior and know He is there and made me for a purpose. I cannot begin to understand how you can look at the stars believing that there is no Creator and still feel that you have a purpose.

  • @hasacra On the contrary, how can you see any purpose in existing in a Universe created on a whim by a mystical being? You reduce the Universe to nothing more than a plaything, and I can think of nothing that would assign it any less value.

  • @hasacra Its beyond some people to grasp.

  • @Mogley52 Yawn... Can't creationists come up with new bogus arguments instead of the old ones we've heard so many times. Repeating and/or restating over and over again won't make it more true.

Can't even say I LoLed at you. Just a sad sigh and a yawn

  • I have to say good work.

  • Epic piece of work.

  • Simply amazing, just as your other videos. Care to share which program you use to make these remarkable videos?

  • look, make more videos.. this is sad.

  • @theDracoIX Atheism is the truth.

  • @lewism1995 Then the burden of proof lies with you doesn't it? Prove to me there is no God.

  • @brianhyde63 just think about it.... do you really believe an old bearded man is out in the sky flying around on a cloud and watching over us to see if we are doing bad deeds? what proof do you have that the olympians doesn't exist?

  • @lewism1995

Not sure I can agree with that, for one simple reason:

Atheism is not a truth claim. To suggest that it is is to play into the hands of the credulous who suggest that atheism is a dogmatic position. It asserts no truth claims of its own, it merely rejects the truth claims of others with regard to the existence of supernatural entities as being unsubstantiated.

  • @lewism1995

    Prove it.

  • Very Romantic, I like it! Thanks for posting! ;-)

  • I'm starting a favorites, and this is the first video going into it. Brilliant! Simply Awesome!

  • I can't even explain to you in words how much i thoroughly enjoyed this video. I wish i could like it thousands of times and get it some more views. Your voice is perfect for this type of thing.. I just can't even put what I'm feeling into words. I absolutely loved this. Bravo sir, bravo.

  • Amazing Video!

  • I'm confused by your argument that we don't have free will. Are you suggesting that our decisions are inevitable because they are driven by natural processes? Eating a plum plus thinking about religion leads to (for my particular chemical make up at least) staying up late and commenting on youtube.

  • @Mogley52 having sex is awsome but; having sex mentaly or in your fantasy is just sad.

  • @zhongjinshu1 I've only seen a few posts as stupid as this one, in the 25+ years of reading posts online.

  • @Mogley52

A bit out of your mind, aren't you?

  • @Mogley52 You make me lol so hard.

  • @andromedaswake you truly are a wonderful person and i wish to talk to you, to befriend you. you seem like a very kind hearted person and they are quite rare to find. my hat is tipped to you good sir. have a jolly day and a great life!

  • @apumpkinful Eh? you can't assert what you're trying to assert without stepping on loose ground.

Your argument about another person's opinion IS ONLY an opinion. Therefore, it's no more valid than what you claim this video's author claims.

    Just sayin'

  • one word was going through my mind while watching this video: beautiful

  • @chadwick0091 The one word going through my mind was: soulless devil

  • @theDracoIX hahahahaha!!! wow bro. you're a fucking dumbass...read your comment. lol

  • @chadwick0091 hahahaha, aren't you fvcking dense. Jokes on you idiot - if you don't get what I did there.

  • @theDracoIX really??? what did you do exactly?

  • I apologize for the short discussion that appears below. For the record (in case he comes back), prophet does not mean priest. I can say everything I know - pretty much about everything - derives from the Gwynnite Hypothesis, independent study I did as a scientist. And this is not the forum for such a discussion.

Originally posted because I respect this video; what I watched in the video makes me likely to respect the creator of this video. Hate on me somewhere else. Thx.

  • Hi, atheist. I am a prophet of god, and we are not opposed.

This is a great frickin' video.

  • Part 1: You have to love these sort of science-based atheists like AW, AronRa, and Thunderf00t, who claim to be open-minded about the existence of a god, so long as some sort of empirical evidence can be presented, and yet - whenever such evidence is presented... they will invariably dismiss it as illusory.

Life appears designed... even ardent atheists like Richard Dawkins will admit this - however - according to people like AW - this is just an ILLUSION. The universe appears to be, Cont.

  • Part 2: fine-tuned for life... many prominent physicists agree - however - according to people like AW - this is just an ILLUSION. It appears as if humans have free will, atheists and theists both agree - however... this TOO is just an ILLUSION. It appears as if humans have a sense of morality and justice and love, but these too - are just ILLUSIONS.

So, let me ask you a question AW. How did you come to the conclusion that all of these things are illusions? Did you presuppose, Cont.

  • Part 3: something like metaphysical-naturalism before even looking at the evidence - whereby... working backwards from a conclusion... and if not, what leads you to believe that all of these things are, in fact - illusions?

That is to say - how do you determine what is and is not an illusion? Is there a way to scientifically test for this - or are you simply using your own personal bias and intuition? For instance, why don't you think that evolution is an illusion? Cont.

  • Part 4: Even if it appears as if humans evolved from lower lifeforms, it could still be an illusion and if so - how would you know?

I'm very interested to hear your thoughts on discerning reality from illusion... maybe you can even make a video on the subject.

  • @theDracoIX There is no evidence for god. I am, therefore god; that is my belief as to how theism should begin - any evidence for god only exists in the individual. To look for "evidence of god" in order to support religion is to commit sin. To look for "evidence of god" in order to support the personal quest for love and understanding is to enter the kingdom of heaven.

  • @houseofcantor What would you consider evidence for god? Go ahead.

  • @theDracoIX The memory I have of receiving the title of prophet from god. Which does not make me prophet nor god extant. Which does make the Book of Job the beginning of the Bible. :)

I have tested the hypothesis of being "prophet of god" in the most careful, scientific manner possible - over six years - and now consider "prophet of god" to be valid hypothesis. That's enough about me. What about you? What are you really asking?

  • @houseofcantor You're a blood drinking, shapeshifting nigger parasite on the ass of humanity. You have exactly 524 days until those voices in your head consume you. There is your message from God, nigger.

  • @theDracoIX I can most definitely understand your hostility, and have little problem with it. For instance, I am not "nigger" in any sense of the word. Being a prophet has nothing to do with being a seer. Hate is a useful tool, but don't let hate consume you. And consumption occurs on 12/19 - your count is a little off. :)

  • @theDracoIX That's a little strong isn't it?

  • @HeshMetalhead Not when you consider what a low-life this thing is.

  • @theDracoIX Well, I have analysed his argument thoroughly from several perspectives, and I have reached the logical conclusion that he may well be the prophet of god. In fact, I have more concrete evidence that suggests the validity of his statement than I have evidence of the existence of an omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent deity.

So you shouldn't really be mocking the prophet of god. I mean, risky business?

And also, no one can shapeshift. That's a very silly statement. Shame on you.

  • @HeshMetalhead I must disagree with you strongly: after extensive study in the field, I have concluded that it is possible for people to shapeshift.

Sadly, I don't think this will be possible for theDracoIX: he may well remain a retard forever.

  • @HeshMetalhead You really shouldn't have opened your mouth - because now you've exposed yourself to humanity.

  • I love your commentary... You have a beautiful voice, very reassuring. I also applaud everything you say, because it resonates deep within my heart. But as someone from asia, I would like to say that though many people believe it so, Buddhism is not a religion, because Buddha is not god, and there is no concept of God in Buddhism. Thank you for this wonderful video.

  • Hahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaa LoooooooooooooooLing for an hour

    XD

  • @charbroiledmonk1033 Okay....

You didn't think that comment through, did you?

  • @AndromedasWake I dont whats to think about.

You croon on in a way that would make a meth addict drowsy.

This video should be titled "Atheist: I've found a way for people to lose interest in us"

    Youre no Morgan Freeman

  • @AndromedasWake damn that too funny lol

  • @AndromedasWake Do ya think he'll get it?

  • @AndromedasWake You literally killed him o.0

  • that is my new motto. i am atheist. and my universe is limitless.

  • @gooddarkjedi The universe is not limitless.

The big bang would suggest that our universe is volatile and finite, instead of static and infinite.

The limits of the universe are at this point in time unknown, that does not make them limitless.

  • Thanks, AW. This video brought me chills, and re-awoke my yearning to understand. I can't imagine what we have yet to learn in this brief existance, but I hope to help the rest of humanity understand before I succumb to the infinity.

  • @apumpkinful "Why would a "personal video" make a declaration that EVERY person should be able to "look at the stars" and determine this is nothing but a material world?"

Well then I DON'T KNOW but I can suggest that you ASK THE AUTHOR WHY,

INSTEAD OF ASSERTING SOMETHING ABOUT THE AUTHOR WITHOUT A MODEL THAT SUBSTANTIATES WHAT YOU SAY.

Asserting the use of logic through faulty proceedings is IN ITSELF a personal view that you're trying to push to make your point.

    Why?

  • @apumpkinful "Science has to conform to the rules of logic.

An 'Appeal to Nature' is a logical fallacy."

Both are correct, BUT you cannot give a conclusion such that this video, irrespective or the perspective sought therein, or it's author, are appealing in a manner alike to a religion would, since attempting to arrive at this point arguing that almost-absolute certains are being violated corroborates these certains to appeal themselves to a religious character.

That's the flaw I point to.

  • @apumpkinful "An 'Appeal to Nature' is a logical fallacy."

Which is what the "Natural" view does. I suggest a correction of terms to you.

The "Naturalistic" view ordains in a character fact of the universe, which is a naturalistic universe. We KNOW the universe is naturalistic and deterministic, and provided we're not entering the realm of quantum physics, this remains valid in human scale AND in a macro-scale.

This isn't a matter of debate, either. It's a fact.

  • @apumpkinful "You ignored the rest of my comment, so I'll just repeat myself."

    No I didn't.

Don't put actions on me that I did not perform.

    Here's the correction you're missing:

"The naturalistic view doesn't conform to the rules of logic."

    1) Who's logic? This is unspecific yet and thus, needs more explanation to be effective.

    2) There is a difference between "The Natural View" and "The Naturalistic View". I'm sure you're smart enough to know which one is happening here in this video.

  • @apumpkinful "The naturalistic view isn't a part of science."

    Based on what?

Is there no such thing as a scientific view in science, then?

    How different are they?

Because saying that something "isn't a part of science" is an appeal to an assigned or perceived character, and as such, can be accused of the exact same thing that you're accusing this video's uploader.

  • @apumpkinful Troll harder.

  • @apumpkinful I'd be more correct to consider that the naturalistic view is a branch of the scientific view. I know the scientific view isn't religious, because by definition, science looks only at the natural and the objective. Nature is further defined as the phenomena of the physical world, and the physical force regarded as causing and regulating the phenomena of the world.

If any instance of this video starts looking at anything beyond nature I'd agree with you. But that just doesn't happen.

  • @apumpkinful In his personal view or in a naturalistic view?

Wouldn't he be exonerated from being called "religious" as soon as a specific instance where his opinion would be more in common with a naturalistic view than with a personalized belief in the mystical or the cosmically mesmerizing?

Isn't even the doubt of the origin to his claim enough to say he might be inclined to say it's others with no knowledge of the cosmos that resort to the mystical instead of him as assiduous cosmologist?

  • Hmm. Youtube is the only place where people can and do curse at each other while talking about philosophy.

  • @theantinatalist

im talking about it as a question.

"Is it beautiful?" is not a fact. it is a question. The anwer is an opinion. In MY opinion, the universe is beautiful. Chance is beautiful. But modern humanity is not.

  • @apumpkinful Is he?

    When?

  • @apumpkinful

And also, I don't believe I'm implying AndromedasWake is indoctrinated or dishonest.

Those are relative terms that appeal to character, in the end. And while I do agree that there is personalized character input into this video, I disagree that we can simply categorize that character as "indoctrinated" and "dishonest" with only this video as background.

That's jumping too many fences to arrive at your conclusion.

I could just as easily argue that you see indoctrination a priori.

  • @apumpkinful "No, because he's not appealing to modernity and civilization."

Isn't it implied, though? The appeal to them? If you analyze in the context of the present and science in the present, you'll see that this video fits into that context. I would argue that the video is more a conclusion of the context of "now" than it would be a conclusion of any form of indoctrination or religiousness.

I still fail to see religiousness. I'd say it's more a "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" thing.

  • :'D

  • @theantinatalist I don't take pleasure in suffering things, I just don't waste my life wallowing over them, there's a significant difference. I'm not refuting you further, you're depressing me...

  • @theantinatalist

Of course it is not. Im not technically rational. Nothing is TECHNICALLY rational. It depends on who you are talking to. You contradicted yourself mate.. Different people experience different things, and have different opinions. Some people, some natives in africa for example, do not think talking on the phone is rational. Some do not believe wearing clothes is rational. Some believe that you are irrational. Therefore, i am rational by my means, but not by some.

  • @apumpkinful Think about this: when you die, would you rather people continuously wallow in disappear about your death or would you want them to get on with their lives before they meet the same inevitable fate.

  • @theantinatalist Yes, all thoughts of suffering are overruled by orgasms and fun things like PARTYING... WOOOOOW! GET A LIFE!

  • @apumpkinful Wouldn't it be just as valid to say that this video is one where we're glad we're living in a modernized civilization rather than one that asserts an inherent religious nature in humanity as a whole?

Even by an argument of exceptions you'd still be wrong. I see you sort of trying to push an opinion here. I just think that's as dishonest a claim as any indoctrinate would and has made.

  • @apumpkinful Ohh, play the world's smallest violin again, get a life! No I mean, seriousl
