I understand when ppl keep on saying that Mariah cant sing live. Well, guys accept the fact that she can and this one is a proof 100% live. @eric123878 i sing too. the reason why she moves her mic a little further when she belts is to avoid feedback and louder sound. BECAUSE the high notes sounds greater vs the low volume, the mic has to be move away or else it would sound like big bang theory. lol!

I hate dubbed concert performances. Especially in Mariah's position. She's an incredible singer, so why lip sing? My guess is sore throat. Not every performer's voice is 100% at EVERY show you know. Even your beautiful Beyonce lip sang during her Dangerously in Love tour. Let's not judge now

15 years ago when I was 11, my dad surprised me with a computer for my birthday. I remember using the Media Player for the first time and it featured a short 30 sec clip of this performance. it was the first time i'd ever heard of mariah. I was mesmerized :) I recall playing it over and over many times. without YouTube, google and fast internet, it took me a couple of years until i found the rest of the video. I am 26 today, and still love it !

If you listen to the undubbed version, you will release why they refined it in post production. You can barely hear her signing over those damn people in Madison Square Garden. But then again, if I was there I probably wouldn't have been able to contain my excitement.

If you listen to the undubbed version, you will release why they refined it in post production. You can barely hear her signing over those damn people in Madison Square Garden. But then again, if I was there I probably wouldn't have been able to contain my excitement.

those saying she lipped are crazy!!! She NEVER lipped before Butterfly!! Some parts of this concert were dubbed in post production but she definitely sang it LIVE on the night. Anyway, if you're familiar with the studio version it's clearly not the same - there are subtle differences

this performance is obviously lipped first of all because she perfectly hits the same note in the same way as in the studio track morevoer at a certain point she takes the microphone away from her mout but the volume doesn't change at all XD i'm huge fan of her but this performance was lipped

Lipping.It's also part of artistry.Singers are humans like us and they also have to take care of their voice.i also know this was lipped .It is true that she takes the mic away from her mouth but at that time it was not a problem for her.Still she could sound very powerful with mic at a distance like that. What matters is that everybody knows this is her song and that she sang it brilliantly even if it was just for the studio version.I enjoy seeing her on stage .Don't you? :):)

Its funny to see others attempting these songs on American Idol. Attempting songs that Mariah Carey or Whitney Houston sing and then I see this live performance and can't wait to see American Idol performers try them again next season. Mariah was fantastic in this performance. I can hear it now... Randy Jackson "What are you going to sing for us today". "Forever by Mariah Carey" and destroy the song! All the music now means nothing, it's all about drinking, drugs and sex. All crap, how can you sing to any of that, or relate to it. I mean it's fun to party to I guess but I hate that kind of music.

@pglez725 it's definitely not the same as the cd. all of her runs sound different and the way she ends her deeper notes are different as well. The only thing that sounds similar are her high octave belts.

Listen really carefully at 2:08 - 2:16 "Youuu will alwahayys bee the only onnne, huahwahahwoho..." ok, now listen to the studio version. They falsify her actual skill in singing, and the difference between those people and I is that I don't. They think she's such a great singer when in actuallity she isn't. She was and even now substantially a talented singer, but sue to the "she's the greatest singer ever" verbatims it makes it seem plausible that she actually is, taking attention away from her actual skill.
