Hey, Mr. Dillard. Just a few questions. After doing this exercise for the first time, I became sort of light headed...is that normal for first-timers? Also I read a comment from @beliefinme4now, and we truly have the same story. Like them, I live here in Atlanta, GA and am looking for a vocal coach who possibly may tutor for free, if not, within my budget. Can you help me out? Music is my passion and I really want to project this to the world! Thanks for reading.
omg! thank you so much i am 12 years old and i was great before but know im fabulous i was in the school talent show and i won 1st place thank to you i did this for a month and i am great again thank you
@salena431 WOW!!!!!!!!! Super thanks for sharing that with me. That makes me sooooo happy! Keep on singing and show your brilliance and AMAZING-ness to the world!
Hey Eric, Thanks for your energy and helpful videos. I live in Atlanta, GA. Would you know any vocal coaches/instructors here? I've always wanted to sing, but didn't have the money and really time, for it. I am a disable veteran, so I have time to learn. Any help is appreciated.
@beliefinme4now Hey there! Thanks for reaching out and so glad you like my work here. If you email me at thevocalclinic@gmail.com - I can make sure you get more information.
I always no doubt to watch this video over and over again 'cause it helps me truly and the same time I got some tips how to sing well. Thanks to you sir.
sir, I wish u were here at my side so that u can teach me how to sing properly and so that I could be able to show my talent to everyone . u are really good voice coach.
my voice is given when it comes to singing but I don't know how to sing properly. huhuhu. that's a big problem I had right now. for now I didn't consider my singing skills as my talent. huhuhu I want an improvement so that I'm proud to say in the end that I really do have a talent.

Dear.Erik Dillard I have a problem i can sing really good but i have a problem with hiting high notes and low notes any tips if u do i will be very thankful.
Thank you so much for all of these lessons...I have been told that I have a very strong voice because I can sing some of Celine Dion songs but I always felt that my voice was never considered ready to sing yet....I can't thank you enough....
i'd just like to let everyone know that your diaphragm is a muscle that helps to expand your lungs. air doesn't 'go into your diaphragm' i'm not trying to troll i just want people to be aware of basic internal anatomy. feel free to thumbs down.
@omboriqua Hey there! If you go and take a look at my video on "Diction"....should be titled VOCAL LESSON 6, or so. I give a quick tip at the end about congestion. Season's Greetings! ~E~
Heyy i watch only two video of you giving lessons for begginers you are so good ...!!! im practising alone two years and im becoming more good trough those years i want to be better and better i love music and i love singing ....there so many singers who inspire me and you two when i listen to you.....thank you i have to watch all your video to learn from you thnx again.... :D :D
Breathing is ...? Everything!! :) I have stupid question - I try to breath in to my nose but some songs have too many notes. Suddenly I must breath in to mouth too stay conscious :)) After that I feel my throat is dried. Now we have winter so pharyngitis threatens. Have you some ideas to solve this? Anyway - GREAT JOB MAN!! Thanks a lot, you are my inspiration to training! Japan is too far to join your school so I learn from your videos only. Greetings from Poland!! Breathing is...???
hi your awsome! lol... i sing in my church, and when i sing there 2 other people singing with me and and before because it happen that often, when i sing something i feel like light head like tired after a sentence i sing like i have wieght on me, and its not because i run out of air idk but is that normal?
Hey Erik, I've got a question too hope you will have time to anwser it in time :D
You keep saying to breath with your nose while singing, but iam still wondering how to do that? When i try to do that i have a feeling like something is closing my airtube (LOL dont know the right word for it) so its only possible to breath with my mouth........do you have any idea how to fix this? Or why this problem is?
You say you breath in while breathing out...........iam really wondering how to do that?
Thank you SO much for this lesson! This is my first time viewing this video and I just practiced it and I feel like I have already gained so much. I'm excited to think of the results that will come after a month of practice!
I have a Question as well xD. Would you use this same pulsating method for vibratos? As in, would you pulsate the Higher half-note, and soften the lower half-note. Or do you just use the same amount of air for each half-note when doing vibratos? Btw, thanks for making these vids xD.
i have a question for yah..how can i possibly sing good? my voice are annoying..even if i do that,,my voice are still annoying..haaiizzz...i'm hopeless
I have a question Erik. I heard that to breathe properly using your diaphragm, youre supposed to breathe with your mouth as if your yawning, and if you breathe through your nose, it makes your chest and shoulders go so...it's not a good thing. So which ones right? The nose or the mouth? Is it ok if my shoulders go up as I breathe through my shoulders?
scientifically alot of things in this video is wrong! lol. "Cardiovascular system" umm more like Respiratory. you can't breath into your diaphram....its a cavity. You're breathing into your lungs still just pushing the air downward making it seem as though the diaphram is expanding(its really decreasing). more air...longer vocals. Anyway I learned alot about singing from this! i am working on becoming a better singer so thanks for the tips.
Hey Erik I gotta question! I have a nose problem so when I sing I have to breath with my mouth, so how am I supposed to breath through my nose? Or breath frequently and good??
Have you already spoken to your doctor about your breathing situation? Breathing from your nose is key while singing b/c it helps to keep your voice moist. I would speak with your doctor first and then let's go from there.
I have a question for you. Do you breathe in through your nose while you are pushing air out?... because I find that as an impossible task... When you sing, it seems as if your breathing and letting out air simultaneously... not having breaks to breathe and continually sing... Anyways, it would be nice to get some response =]. By the way, your tips are amazing!
I LOVE that screen name! I'm actually making my breathing so "fluid", if you will, that a new breath is beginning while one is ending. This comes with practicing good breath control while singing. If you follow my "S" drills, I think that may help.
I'm fat, so it's hard enough for me to breathe through my nose, and then he starts doing that exercise so fast xD I know I'm supposed to breathe through my nose though, so I guess it'll just take practice.
I can't breathe in through my nose and breathe out at the same time either. Seems psychotic xD
i have a question about breathing. first of all i'm a teen and i have something wrong with my nose which makes it hard for me to use my nose. when i talk/sing i breath through my mouth. i'm getting surgery soon to try to fix this. do you think after getting the surgery, i'll sound less nasily?
i'm not exactly sure if i would be able to breath through my nose after surgery while singing though because i'm not use to breathing through my nose when singing.
I`ve studied sing for about 10 years (!!!) - and your tipps are al I´ve learned inclusive logopeadia - very good - love your videos. what king of stuf do you sing? sometimes your voice sounds like musical (classical opera musicals) and sometimes like soul.
for instance, singing a high C; what kind of exercises should i use to better prepare myself for notes like that?... lol, overall you're a cool vocal coach. your videos are VERY helpful.
1. Singing isn't always pretty. Don't be afraid 2 push that diaphragm out & make it look like U've eaten 1,000 big macs...LOL! U need alot of room 2 project. People R sometimes afraid of their diaphragms looking weird. Don't be afraid.
2. When going after high notes, most of this requires technique, but believe it or not...(I'm going 2 focus a clinic on this). A LOT of it is in your mind. If U tell yourself U can hit it, U will. =)
i was just wondering... lol, sounds dumb, but uh, when i use my diaphragm, how come my diaphragm doesn't look like yours? lol, i've notice that w/ a lot of vocal coaches. is that something that develops in time, or what? also, um, i mostly taught myself how to sing, but i've been coach before by music teachers at school, but i have a problem w/ hitting high notes.
i am a vocalist and after singing one or two songs my voice becomes very hoarse... sometimes after jus doing some vocal warmups im too hoarse to even sing a song... could this be the cause of nodules? and what can i do to improve the over all quality of my voice?

Just a few questions needing clarifications.
You know you are inhaling through your diaphragms rather than your lungs is when your stomach expands rather than the chest rising.
Question 2: When are we suppose to breath while singing? Is it after the end of a line and during the pause before the next line?
Thanks a lot in advance !
