I've understand the basic workflow, but what is over the flashlight (maglight, i guess). I can see a dome and also flat things to colour the light, but what can that be? what is it??

  • thx for the "behind the scene" vid so i could finally imagine how you do this perfect light-you-up vid =)

  • You are the BEST !!

    PikaPika project forever !!!

  • Whaaaat... that's fuckin' amazing.

  • Holy shit that's amazing. although the title of the move suggests it has something to do with Pokemon XD

  • Pika Pika translates to sparkle...so yes and no.

  • Cool, I didn't know that.

  • notice in the end when they show the picture it has the whole light object in one picture not like a million flip book status pictures all u have to do is have a slow shutter and itll literally paste on everything over and over until the shutter takes the picture and so all that it saw would be on one picture.

  • It's calles stop animation. By taking a large number of snapshots close together, you can then put them together to make it look like you are filming. In many ways, its the same concept as drawing a multi-frame cartoon on a flip book and flipping through the pages.

If you want to know how it works, try it out. Have some fun with it.

  • no you can slow down the shutter really slow so when u move a light in a circle and finally take the picture the light will appear as a circle it can be done with anything really by just moving ur camera around while taking pictures but it works best with some delayed shutter thing.

  • I'll have to give it a shot.

  • the japanese are fucking amazing.

  • I am SO confused on how you actually get the picture to show up on the film.

  • It appears they do it one frame at a time. My guess is they take a picture of the light movements using a camera set to a long exposure time. This way all the movements of the light show up as a single image such as a happy face. Then all they do is combine the separate frames to make it look like a video.

  • wow, so thats how they did it.

  • see, i never got that "wow" moment. haha I still don't understand. All it said was a camera and a flashlight. But what the hell did they do? move quickly as they were taking the photo? care to explain? still awesome fx and awesome video!

  • this just made me respect the japanese more!

  • thats insane.. wow.

  • awesome project!

  • laughter, music, dance, and WOW... the things that you can understand in any language :)

  • this project is sooo.......WOW!

  • genius

  • Take me to the time

    /BREMEN

  • Cool man!!!

    I want to do it,

    Looks hard though,

    Takes a lot of hardwork

  • the Japaneses are real hardworking, competitive people. they aren't really that talented. but they are hardworking and determined.

  • Yea, it is a lot of hard work a patients too. I do that kind of photography and it's not so easy. I'm sitting through this saying to myself, "man, it's difficult to get ONE picture. I can imagine 15 pictures for one second (15 f/p).

  • ANYONE CAN PIKAPIKA NOW!

  • At 00:13 is that dutch?

'Cause it really sounds like that x)

  • Sorry, maar dat is nou echt Japans ^^.

  • Het lijkt net alsof hij zegt, tering he xD

  • erm..noone says anything at 00;13 i think. the rest is japanese tho...

  • Ok 00:11 then. But it really sounds like dutch :)

  • flipo con el pikapika este

  • A very nice work.

  • nice man!!..really enjoy it

  • Just great. The dedication, group-work and overall performance is an example to follow.

  • AMAZING!! what a nice idea

  • sniff... think I think I smell understatement here!!!

  • understatement???

  • This is stopmotion taken to a next level.

  • It's spectacular how it's done in motion.

  • The performance at SDX tonight was really great. Hope to see more stuff from you!
