Buying a computer pre-assembled is a rip-off. I built a system via the gateway online service, but didn't purchase it and it would have cost me $4000. I opted to build it myself with identical parts and it cost $1200. just letting you know.
Chris, it's good that you encouraged him into getting what he wanted. I think, though, that to say "why even bother with a mac" is kind of limiting his ability to experiment with a mac and possibly appreciate it now or even later on. You never know, maybe he's like me who likes 3d computer games as well as the great software that apple has to offer!
It's more than capable of running anything on the market today, it's just the fact that the majority of games are programmed for Windows, not OSX, it's a software compatibility issue not the hardware. Shove a 64bit version of Windows on bootcamp with ti though and you'll be flying, or get something that works with Mac.
Macs are not known for gaming, kind of ironic, Windows is usually for Business but because Vista is hot on games I take it that Windows might pass OSX with business use and home use.

Chris, it's good that you encouraged him into getting what he wanted. I think, though, that to say "why even bother with a mac" is kind of limiting his ability to experiment with a mac and possibly appreciate it now or even later on. You never know, maybe he's like me who likes 3d computer games as well as the great software that apple has to offer!

To be honest, Blackbird 002 is most expensive computer I ever seen, compared to MAC PRO, its insane expensive!

It's more than capable of running anything on the market today, it's just the fact that the majority of games are programmed for Windows, not OSX, it's a software compatibility issue not the hardware. Shove a 64bit version of Windows on bootcamp with ti though and you'll be flying, or get something that works with Mac.

Macs are not known for gaming, kind of ironic, Windows is usually for Business but because Vista is hot on games I take it that Windows might pass OSX with business use and home use.
