  • i highly doubt yellowstone is going to erupt in 2012.. you can't predict that kind of thing.. super volcanoes will go off whenever they want to... it might erupt 4 yrs from 10 yrs from now.. point is.. when it does erupt.. it's gonna cause a catastrophic disaster..

  • 5:53 indonesion volcano 1883...

for those that dont know thats krakatou... biggest explosion..

could be heard in australia 5000 km away.

  • the freakiest part of yellowstone is that IF (pretty big if) 2012 happens... its gonna be yellowstone with a pretty high accuracy... this thing is by far most likely to happen of all doomsday scenarios... that ive heard, regarding 2012.

  • there sure is a lot of Scottish people watching the Yellowstone, it seems

  • LOL its not going to matter where you live in the world. This volcano will block the sun for a 1,000 yrs. The ash cloud will cover the world within say less than 20 hr period. Nothing you and or I can do. Geologolists have the notion to drill in the area magma and to some how release the pressure hoever that could cause it to errupt or calm it done. If it errupts.nothing not even bacteria will live. As it was called an ELE...

  • @EndofDays881 shelters might work but usa and maybe entire northern america is doomed... a large portion around yellowstone gets hit by the boom... rest of us + some of the sea gets the big ash clouds... true the rest of the world will be heavily hit too climatically, BUT we can build shelters, we can isolate ourselves... so no i dont think humanity will die.

  • Glad I live in England :)

  • what way have you these videos split up ffs ya could of just put PART 1 PART 2 PART 3 none this 1 1/6 1/26 shittt

  • well i can tell you all one thing wrong about this movie...there are no plate boundries near or at all by yellowstone...he said the earthquake was from the fault on the plate boundry :P HAHHA

  • 9:18 made me lauph so hard

  • could anyone imagine if this supervolcano actually happens on December 21 2012 that would mean the myan prophercies were right. December 21 2012 supervolcano doomsday end of the world.

  • @setokaiba991 And could anyone imagine it does not happen, ha? As all doomsday predictions to date have failed, what should be so special about this one? Me alone survived at least 10 predicted doomsdays by now...

  • @setokaiba991 It wouldn't be the end of the world there will be a lot of casulties and the world would be put into another iceage due to the ash speading around the world and covering the planet.. The last three super eruptions occurred 2.1 million, 1.3 million, and 640,000 years ago.

  • @setokaiba991 tbh this is the MOST likely doomsday scenario.

  • I want to be a volcanologist, and anyone who knows what their talking about knows that predicting an eruption is very hard.I think its good that "ms. Chin" represented the great possibility of an eruption.if people are smart, they'll stay away from yellowstone and thats coming from someone who has always wanted to be at yellowstone. Be safe.

  • Isn't 2.1 million years / 3 = 700,000 years ? not 600,000 years said by him

  • lol I like the part with the cubical volcanoes.

  • Gotta love the slave clowns wrongly called "journalists". All they care about is selling their crap and do not care about hurting anyone ad long as they they get what they want. Then again they are slave clowns who do whatever their masters tell them.

  • A politician with feelings...lmao

  • "Super Bangs" sounds more like a cheap porno mag.

  • @Threetails agree

  • what the fuck is this high tech hologram shit... it fckn spoils everything..

  • @ojyhofoy Hey fuck you!

  • Shit, we got a quake. That's a big understatement.

  • 3:20 I would of been more like 'Hey Ms. Chin, shut the fuck up.'

  • That stupid chink journalist. All she cares about is her fucking sensationalist story.

  • Those scientist are pretty damn ignorant.

  • common if the fucking yellow stone would get a fucking erouption the world will go under in less than 2 years!!!

  • ok ok... so I dont get why the USGS guys are so concerned with what is said about yellowstone being a possible point for a massive eruption. Arent they impartial scientists? Why do they care what the public thinks about the park? Are they not just supposed to study it for scientific reasons? Or are they trying to increase tourism with their scientific credentials? They seem to be acting more like politicians jousting about. I don't really get what the conflict is here.

  • so who do we blame for this? Hugo Chavez? or is this Al Queda's doing? Please, tell me who to blame for my newest fear.

  • @Rahavin1 Justin Bieber

  • @Dragonfree97 Justin Bieber... that little bastard.... how can a 14 year old cause so much terror, sadness, and destruction?

  • 6.9 she said that like it was nothing...lmao..

  • I'm really not a big fan of the woman who thinks there will be an eruption and gives the -_- face wherever she goes.

  • @cmwissy yeah, ya kinda just want to slam your fist into her mug a few dozen times. Pesky reporters.

  • @cmwissy The truth hurts, and she speaks the truth, so she has a -_- face for a reason.

  • Consequences of ignoring... WHAT FUCKING CONSEQUENCES? I mean, really? Consequences of ignoring an inevitable explosion? You know what inevitable means, right?

If the thing is going off you aren't stopping it and any attempt at damage control is mostly futile. We're going into an ice age, millions are going to starve, the ones that might have been able to evacuate but are instead blown to bits might be the -lucky- ones.

  • 2:18 he was a russian colennal in stargate sg1 and played optamis prime in armada, energon and cybertron series of trasformers

  • "no its true - this things gonna go off in a matter of days if not hours - everybodys going to die" LOL

  • Its all true, this things ready to blow in a matter of days, if not hours and absolutely everybody is going to die horribly. Youre welcome your holyness

hahaha I love that guy with his accent hes so funny :)

  • lol at the big cube XD

  • would you all shut up?!! How did we come to be, huh? EXPLAIN THAT FOOLS!!!

  • It would be cool if we could tap into all the potential energy of Yellowstone and every other volcano on the planet and use them for commercial purposes, slowly siphoning the gas and heat to do useful work and prevent an eruption at the same time. Kind of like geothermal energy. A super eruption would be like thousands of nuclear bombs going off continuously...imagine using all that energy for constructive purposes! Who needs nuclear fusion when you have a supervolcano...

  • special fx r soooo fake lol

  • six main characters, and four have british accents. In the heart of America

  • and if yellowstone is already dangerous, then when the moons gone, were dead, cuz one of jupiters moons : Io is maybe gonna crash into the earth and if it does (its one giant planet full of vulcanism, 300 volcanoes erupt per second with the same power of yellowstone) were doomed. (its proven that the moon is being slinged away from the earth)

  • @hypersonicchaos12 this is definately the first time that I've ever heard that Io would crash into earth in the distant future. THe moon will be around for another couple billion years. Yellowstone will one day blow, but life will go on. For a very long time

  • Man that guy making fun of the cube block guy is such a retard for trying to downplay everything.

  • I like those cube blocks! Especially the oversized one.

Where the heck did he get those!?

"This is Mount Saint Helens" *holds up tiny block*

"Later* This is a supervolcano: *Shows a HUGE jaw dropping cube block*

  • the sky is falling, the sky is falling!

  • The real head of the park Jacob Lowenstern is one of the friendliest and open guys Ive ever had the absolute pleasure of e-mailing. He and the park staff there do a great job. If he knew this was going to happen, hed be the first one to tell you. Cheers to the scientists at the YVO!

  • Yay, June 1 is tomorrow, BRING IT ON, YELLOWSTONE - I'LL BE WAITING

  • @IAmDeliciousful still waiting?

  • @Dennys787 Yep.

  • Norris? As in Chuck Norris? I should have known he was related to a supervolcano.

  • One thing one must realize is that without the vast complex of natural cycles that life on Earth would not be even possible. That the miracle planet we live on is full of natural strife. Without these kinds of geologic, climatic, and precessional changes life may not have evolved at all. We live on a hostile and unforgiving planet. One must appreciate the fact that these things happen and accept that disasters like that are the natural scheme of things.

  • i think it would be great if one of these went off like the earth taking a huge shit, why is everyone so afraid of a little bit of utter carnage and anarchy i think it would be great and make life a bit more interesting than the shitty lives we make for ourselves at the moment working hard to buy big TVs and cars that wipe our asses for us. lets work hard just to survive and be greatfull that we have had the gift of experiencing experience

  • @danrogers29: Yeah, and I'll bet you visualize yourself as one of the survivors, right? Not one who gets conked by a 20 lb rock, or gassed in your car, or who freezes to death in your townhouse in Salt Lake City.

  • @puncheex nope not really, i dont really care what happens to me we all die at some point so why do people see it as a disaster if they all die at once id rather die in something as spectacular as one of these babys going off than i would for my final moment to be shitting myself on a hospital bed with more tubes inside me than the london underground. also i dont live in salt lake city im from england its a few miles down the way

  • Bitch !

  • 2:18 thats the russian commander from stargate sg1

  • 6.9 earthquake, that sounds about right

  • the backstory with this reporter is silly. There's no way Ms. Chin has the background or experience to talk about an eruption at yellowstone. The only backstory that makes sense is that Chin is a tabloid reporter, which makes her character unlikeable.

  • the last eruption shd be bout 640000 yrs ago. And bout every 600000 yrs yellowstone will erupt. But it hasn't done so in 40000 yrs. So its overdue 40000yrs. it can happen now, tmr, nxt week or nxt yr! It can be any day, any time! So we have to be prepared!!!

  • @mybabyjoongie The earth changes over time. Consider that there are 3 known previous eruptions at Yellowstone - 2.1 million years ago, 1.3 million years ago, and 640 thousand years ago.

difference is 800,000 between the first two. 660,000 between the last two. Now it's been 640,000 years.

It's significant, but according to those figures at least it's not like we're overdue or anything. It could easily be 100,000 years before it goes again.

  • @mybabyjoongie: Let's see: one 640,000 years ago, one 1.3 mya, and one at 2.1mya, and the one before that was 4.45mya. That series averages out to 1.11 million years. How does that work?

  • Yellowstone is mother natures asshole, and one day mother nature is going to fart BIG TIME, and when that day comes, remember ME.

  • @macktheknife888 Remember you for.....what?

  • @macktheknife888: Sure, no problem. When it starts, we'll glorify you as the first virgin sacrifice, hey?

  • LOL at the people who worry about this.

The chances of it going off in our lifetime are very very small.

But if it dos go off, bring it on, I love a good fight for survival.

  • The Yellowstone Supervolcano erupts every 600,000 years. The last tIme it erupted was 599,998 years ago. They've gathered evidence for this. The next super-eruption is due in 2 years... I don't think the chances are very very small... The next eruption is due in 2012 for god sakes!! GET THIS THROUGH YOUR MINDS PEOPLE. 2010 WILL happen sooner or later. And so will this eruptIon.

  • your so stupid

  • Not sure that I agree with the 2012 story yet. I have done the research and there would be more signs then there are now by now if it was gonna blow in 2012

  • Sorry Camryn, your information is incorrect. Please do NOT act like you have facts when you don't. The last eruption was 640,000 years ago, not 599,998. If I am wrong, please site your sources so I can verify them. Also, before the last major one (there was a minor one 70,000 years ago), there was one at 1.2 million years ago and another at 2.1 million years ago. THREE points can NOT be used to "predict" the next quake. More than this are necessary. We do NOT know the next eruption date.

  • @CamrynFisher

    A volcano can't count. It doesn't have to be exactly 600000 years:P

  • @CamrynFisher Naw, afraid not. Last eruption was 120,000 to 70,000 years ago. Not even close.

  • @puncheex that was Toba in Indonesia (75000 bc) in Yellowstone it was ± 640000 bc

  • @keokiracerhalsteren: i was referring to Yellowstone. There were non-caldera forming, magma extrusion eruptions in the time period mentioned; the extruded rhyolite is what the park is famously named for.

  • @puncheex sorry but wtf is extruded rhyolite? Im Dutch and 15 yrs old so Im not good enough in English yet to understand wtf that means

  • @keokiracerhalsteren: Rhyolite is a form of granite. It has a yellowish color, and that is why Yellowstone is called that.

  • @puncheex aha thank you for explaining that :)

  • to everybody freaking out about this, relax. even if this does happen, we'll all be dead by the time it does(unless we do something really retarded) and there are a million other ways an apocolypse can happen, the ones u should be worried about: nuclear weapons and pollution :)

  • It's scary how this will happen sometime... I heard it'll wipe out the sun and cause the world to go into darkness. I just hope it erupts when I'm dead..

  • Yellowstone is Gods way of saying, SO... You think your nuclear bomb tests underground are powerful do you. God continues, by saying, now it's my turn, I will show you how retarded you are to think that you hold power in your hands, i will bring you on your knees, and you will call my name once again, and i will hear you. For as retarded as you are, i still love you.

Bring it on God, yes, baby, bring it on.

  • Naah, Yellowstone is a natural volcano, not the fist of god. Wake up dude.

  • good point and we need more people like you unlike other people alway put god in this

  • The HAARP creates Earthquakes, hurricanes and tornados, mind control with the ELF tech....and much more. The time is coming that God will override all of this in the Tribulations. A major prophesy is being set up in Israel by April. God controls all of this. He is going to return.......not long now.

  • @pedarikarhu actually, its the world's second most powerful volcano, under the siberian supervolcano in the desert there, who erupted and rowed out 95 % of all life 185 million years ago

  • @hypersonicchaos12 And your point by saying this is...? Im just saying its just a volcano, not the symbol for "gods" anger...

  • @pedarikarhu Dude. When it goes up America goes down. It is going too kill everyone within 80 miles of its blast zone. And the kill rate goes from 99.9% and decreases every 300 miles. By 1%. It is going too kill at least 80% of everyone there. And the others are going too be coming up from their shelters. Too witness a world without life. A world burning, destroyed. Desecrated. Hellish. It is gods fist and its hitting America with a furious vengeance.

  • @godofmajora Im going to repeat myself. Its a fucking volcano that has formed in earth a LONG time ago. We just gotta hope that by the time that shit erupts, we are allready exploring new planets to live in.

Its a volcano. Not the fist of god.

  • @pedarikarhu Then a fist of chuck norris then?

  • @godofmajora

Wow your view of god is one that's an evil asshole. Good thing god doesn 't exist, you sound delusional though. You are a cluess little bitch. It's not the eruption that kills it's the ash cloud that follows you fucking idiot.

  • @godofmajora Not just America. The ash cloud will spread across the world. Krakatoa created the year without a summer, killling crops and causing massive food shortages for a year. They estimate Yellowstone would cause 6-10 years without summers. Africa, India, Japan, China, and third world countries would nearly starve. Europe would be thrown into chaos, as would the survivors in America (and there will be many). No matter where you live, you wouldn't be able to hide or run. Billions would die.

  • @godofmajora Ignoring the completley bias religious view at the end of your statement. It will not destroy all life. A meteorite crash landed on our planet and wiped out the dinosaurs, but it did not destroy life, otherwise we would not be here. This Volcano will significantly slash the population on our planet, but it will not destroy life. Indeed, Humans may all die from the nuclear winter conditions that follow, but we are not 100% of life on this planet.

  • @godofmajora God doesnt exist dude... but volcanoes do.

  • @godofmajora When it erupts, it will cause ashfall to cover the entire country and will trigger the other volcanoes in the world which will then erupt and will cause death worldwide. It's going to kill everyone in the world without spreading across the oceans. It's unfortunately overdue. It can erupt at any time. It could even erupt right now. Heck, it could be erupting right now!

  • @kardas4210 The human race didn't wipe out during the Toba eruption, so why would Yellowstone kill us all now? Back then, man had not a single sign of a clue what a volcano is let alone a super volcano. We know now part of what is expected during a volcano eruption. Of coarse it could erupt anytime it wants to, doesn't mean it will be a super eruption. Even if it was a super eruption, and we were ill prepared, there is still more of us than was back then...

  • @kardas4210 ... WHAT?? Who said anything about yellowstone triggering volcanoes all around the world? 2012 the movie? That wasn't Yellowstone. According to that movie, it was the SUN, which increased the temperatures of the core, which in turn affected all of the volcanoes.

  • @alyshaya It's true. I watched it on the Discovery Channel. You're probably just too ignorant to give a fuck.

  • @kardas4210 You may be talking about in supervolcano part 2, a single VEI 5 eruption triggers the whole eruption, which is of multiple smaller eruptions which map out the new caldera. And in most documentaries it says the same. Tell me the name of the documentary you watched.

  • @alyshaya Dude, the only one that talks about that stuff: 10 Ways the World Will End. It specifically said: "And if one Supervolcano isn't enough, if one pops, they all pop." That means that if Yellowstone blows, all other will go off and we'll be screwed. So, yeah. Doesn't matter where you go on this earth when it happens, you'll meet the same fate. Worst part: It's overdue. It could go off any day now.

  • @alyshaya The real question is, when WILL it go off? Answer: whenever it feels like it. Pretty much, your futile attempt to screw me up has failed. Go and watch more Discovery and come back when you have more knowledge of the earth and it's disasters.

  • @kardas4210 True, the documentary DID say that. But... how can that be right? The other supervolcanoes have nothing to do with yellowstone, except for the fact that they are all volcanoes. Ugh... I'm gonna give myself a major headache trying to figure that out. Because that documentary didn't explain a dang thing. What I want to know is WHY would yellowstone trigger an all out volcanic catastrophe spreading throughout the globe, was there any evidence of this type of thing in past?...

  • @alyshaya Let's see here. Apparently, just one supervolcanic eruption (only Yellowstone? How? I'm lost there, too.) is enough to somehow trigger all volcanoes on the world. That's all I know. They didn't explain it anymore than that. I don't know why. Probably they aren't smart enough to figure that out.

  • @kardas4210 I assume they think that the shock waves from such a large explosion would be enough to trigger other volcanoes, though I don't think that would be enough to be a worldwide event. However, the amounts of ash/rock sent into the atmosphere would be enough to lower global temperatures and greatly reduce the amount of sunlight available to plant life to live on. Our best advantage for surviving would be our technology, though death tolls from the event would still be rather high.

  • @kardas4210

it says that there was a volcanic winter - because of all the ash and dust ect - this happened with mount st helens - but not that much - only 1 or 2 degrees (apprantly)

a supervolcano would cause temperatures got go down much more

  • @pedarikarhu religious freaks I believe in science it makes more sense

  • @pedarikarhu exactly, agree with you, nobody wants to hear that religious crap

  • right...

  • reference the comment....won't be long now.

  • Israelis Aren't THAT barbaric dick head.

  • The caldera is 85 by 45 miles long. in real life. holy shit that's one fucking huge caldera.

  • @nshewardisababydoll You call it a caldera, I call it Yellowston, Whyoming. Yellowstone is the caldera and can go off any second now (in years hopefully)

  • @nshewardisababydoll he said kilometers and that is a lot smaller

  • hahahaha...problem is...usgs..does not keep web site updated much

  • If this is a solely British production, why is there a pretty much even mix of actors from the UK and Canada?

  • @bikergirl15 Because they're representing the most common peoples of the region? Because God told them to?

    Who frikkin cares??

  • Because Canada is property of Britain. It's part of the British Kingdom. Same with Australia and Scotland (Hence UK, being Scotland and Britain)

  • @bikergirl15: Cause they were cheap, and they all knew English?

  • I like how all the people who played shady characters on Stargate guest star in the authoritive rolls. lol. They probably stepped through the gate and saved their own asses.

  • i don't think this could be the end of the world, but a lot of people and other things will be destroyed. when i was watching the movie i realised: maybe one, two or three people who are sitting here know this is real. it's gonna happen. it's not made my hollywood.

  • i think 8 of 10 people don't know anything about this vulcano and what kind of danger it is. i was watching the movie 2012 and saw about yellowstone being one of the reasons for the word to end. i already knew about this vulcano because i told my class about it a few years ago. nobody knew at that moment anything about it.

  • classical hollywood earthquake: the ground splits open into a bottomless chasm. Does that really ever happen?

  • yes, there are three options, two plates collapse, 2 plates floating away from each other, and two plate scratch side by side. The last one is seen at volcano along pacific ocean. Where the sea plate gets under the land plate and melting in magma. the plates moving away from each other riple the ground open, allowing magma to flow out as lava. these also most likely case in those break ups, you see in movies. (you should see 2012 ;) )

  • 2012 is Geologically absurd. Oceanic plates are more dense than continental crusts. Therefore they ALWAYS submerge beneath continental crust. California will never beak off and fall into the ocean.

  • why are you reply that to me..? That is just what i siad the the sea plate gets under de land plate...so clearly you are not replying to me. the 2012 referment is to see a eruption of yellowstone in total.

  • Not always. Suggest you learn and research slip-fault-lines. Suggest also you research and learn about the Cascadia Mega-Thrust Fault-Line, as well as the Continential Shelf that California sets upon. Many have "education". Few have "Knowledge". I hope you will research, learn, and gain more knowledge. Peace and Blessings Be With......

  • @FlippieX: Except this is not a inter-plate event. So far, it has happened entirely within the NA plate. That is not to say it couldn't at some point cause the NA plate to begin breaking up, but so far it has been so far from an edge that that hasn't happened. Up to this point, it has merely blown a series of holes in the plate.

  • @meteormanmike: On the average the Y hotspot has resulted in the land surface along the line of travel being lowered about 6 km from the surround. It is the rototiller of god, and it's heading for Canada; should cross the border in about 30 million years.

  • Sweet Jesus, this show has me shaking like a... ummm... leaf? On Yellowstone?

  • They're wrong about Mt. St. Helens... The Katmai eruption of 1912 was the worst eruption in American history. It wasn't the Mt. St. Helens eruption of 1980.

  • In terms of numbers of lives lost, as well as economic impact, St. Helens was a far more devestating eruption.

  • you dumb? if this thing blows then the world as we know it will be fucked. USA will be totaly erased.

  • No I'm not 'dumb', beleieve it or not, I'm actually a geologist. I was responding to the person above that referenced that Katmai eruption as being the most "devestating" in our country's history. However Katmai is isolated, virtually no lives lost, as opposed to Mt Saint helens which killed number persons and casue millions of dollars worth of damage. Therefore it has been the most devestating eruption in the US thus far, hands down. Yellowstone has never erupted in human history.

  • @angrycartman: Naw, only South Park.

  • yeah AMERCIAN history the worst OF ALL TIME is sitting under yellowstone

  • you mother fucker you

  • Typo Toba Erupted 75,000 yrs ago not 74,000.

  • He said about... easy on the nerdrage lol.

  • Ok???

  • Just saying. That long ago 74k or 75k isn't really a drastic difference. They also say later that the pyroclastic flow reaches speeds of up to 700km/h but then later say 800km/h.

It's a movie, can't give them too much credit I suppose.

  • Oh I see, true you can't give them much credit.

  • Tghat's the speed of surge not a flow.........

  • yeah nerdage lol

  • Yellowstone is waiting for the receeding Ice caps to reduce planatery pressures, allowing for increasing geothermal activity.

Massive and catastrophic eruptions, coupled with increased sizemic swarms, will plague the Earth on a scale never before seen.

I beleive and hope that we, as a species, are advanced and intelligent enough to realise our mistakes, will, endure our potential extinction, and begin again.

  • Chill out Nostradamus ROFL

  • I highly doubt that atmospheric pressure can precipitate an eruption. However if Yellowstone does blow then I agree that humanity will need to make use of all our wit and strength to make it through this disaster and the following severe famine which will likely follow as the earth experiences severe winters due to ash and gases in the atmosphere spreading across the globe.
