This is my opinion-> he doesn't put his everything into his songs, because he doesn't feel to...I mean he's famous, he's got money, he's doing it just for fun. And as you said his talent appears occasionally on some songs, maybe that's because he really wanted to get that energy (aka talent) out of his system and put his all in those songs. (hope you got my point of view) :)
