Nickleback haven't an original idea in their entire existence, to the point where they simply recycle their own old shitty songs. I found my answer from one of the posters in 9gag. The hate towards Nickelback started when they(a canadian band) performed for the American thanksgiving. Since they started hating Nickelback everyone just caught on. When asked why one hates Nickelback, since they don't know, they say it's because their music is repetitive and generic(most music is). They are not the best thing out there but neither are they deserving of all the hate they get.

I quite enjoy listening to Nickelback, actually. Gave my students the song "Far Away" to listen to as a listening exercise and almost all loved it and asked for a copy and even bought the album. I also love the song "Follow You Home". Lyrics-wise, some the songs stand out. Others don't. But admittedly, their songs do sound kind of the same lol. Still, I love Nickelback, especially because of their clean-cut look and decent reputation. No DUI or drugs use so far. I could be wrong :p

Drums are the worst. Drummer just does max 2 or 3 things, even if the beginning sounds cool. Except drums, I can hear all the things (voice,guitar,bass,production) are very well placed. There is always good sound where it has to be in the song. But songs have no different structures, instrumental gradation or jazzy parts. There are no real suprises for me. I can expect what will come in next verse, chorus, bridge, song, album ... Blandness
My opinion on Nickelback is that their music just can't make me feel anything. It was pretty hard for me to find out why. It sounds sterile. His voice annoys me, it doesn't give me chills or makes me happy, maybe because he sounds like an actor acting same all the time. In every ballad, every "Rockstar-like" song. Guitar riffs or bass tunes are catchy, not trying to sound differently (in a way that listener must get used to something different - hard, high-pitched sound or reversing bass line)

@abehammy They appeal to all audiences. People who want inspirational songs, people who want love songs, party songs, etc. They have it all. They can also play acoustic and electric sets brilliantly. Very few bands can achieve a signature sound with both. Also, Chad Kroeger's vocals are signature grunge and, if you like grunge/post-grunge, you'd appreciate his talent. I'm only naming a few of their pros.

I found my answer from one of the posters in 9gag. The hate towards Nickelback started when they(a canadian band) performed for the American thanksgiving. Since they started hating Nickelback everyone just caught on. When asked why one hates Nickelback, since they don't know, they say it's because their music is repetitive and generic(most music is). They are not the best thing out there but neither are they deserving of all the hate they get.

They are an industry crafted, manufactured, commercial sound. There music is fit for one place and that's the radio stations and radio stations suck ass. we hate them for two main reasons:
#1 their music lacks strong melodic structure or "hooks"./ repetitive (see the video where they play 2 songs at the same time). They remind me of everclear in that their songs are literally all the same basic song that has just been modified a bit.
#2, their main audience is white trash, simple, or people very far removed from the city.
I live in minneapolis and I've noticed that people aprx 40 miles away love n.-back.

I quite enjoy listening to Nickelback, actually. Gave my students the song "Far Away" to listen to as a listening exercise and almost all loved it and asked for a copy and even bought the album. I also love the song "Follow You Home". Lyrics-wise, some the songs stand out. Others don't. But admittedly, their songs do sound kind of the same lol. Still, I love Nickelback, especially because of their clean-cut look and decent reputation. No DUI or drugs use so far. I could be wrong :p

Drums are the worst. Drummer just does max 2 or 3 things, even if the beginning sounds cool. Except drums, I can hear all the things (voice,guitar,bass,production) are very well placed. There is always good sound where it has to be in the song. But songs have no different structures, instrumental gradation or jazzy parts. There are no real suprises for me. I can expect what will come in next verse, chorus, bridge, song, album ... Blandness

My opinion on Nickelback is that their music just can't make me feel anything. It was pretty hard for me to find out why. It sounds sterile. His voice annoys me, it doesn't give me chills or makes me happy, maybe because he sounds like an actor acting same all the time. In every ballad, every "Rockstar-like" song. Guitar riffs or bass tunes are catchy, not trying to sound differently (in a way that listener must get used to something different - hard, high-pitched sound or reversing bass line)

@abehammy They appeal to all audiences. People who want inspirational songs, people who want love songs, party songs, etc. They have it all. They can also play acoustic and electric sets brilliantly. Very few bands can achieve a signature sound with both. Also, Chad Kroeger's vocals are signature grunge and, if you like grunge/post-grunge, you'd appreciate his talent.
