  • @kidehilario 1979 Mustang Turbo 2.3L Carb. Yes turbos do work with carburetor. They are routed the same and a bonnet is put on top of the carb. There are other details you can look up, but yes turbos have worked with carbs.

  • @Lookbraddah That depends on what Cobra you start with, if it was the supercharged Cobra(03-04) then the stock block can handle big power, if it was the older Cobra then you will need to change the rods and pistons.. Although the older Cobras short blocks can handle up to about 380 to 400hp, the pistons are hypereutectic and they don't usually get along well with boost.

  • @upyoursassmonkey I dont know what cobra you talking about but 97 and newer can hold close to 500hp in the engine 03's a lot more because they are forged..

  • @TheCobraman00 All 4.6 liter Ford 4 valve engines without superchargers come with powdered metal connecting rods. Even in professionally balanced and blueprinted engines with stock rods Sean Hyland Motorsport recommends staying south of 450hp. Given Ford's lack of good balance straight out of the factory making one live for more than a couple of seasons with over 400hp is a crap shoot.

  • @arronR100 If you read farther down in the comments, you will see that I was answering a question about how much a STOCK Cobra can handle. 1: the aluminator doesn't come in a stock Cobra and 2: in my most recent comment I specifically said "without superchargers" which would be excluding the terminator. The '97 mentioned by thecobraman00 is not a terminator.

All Stock Cobra Engines are hand built, and come with silver covers. The Aluminator Comes with the Ford Motorsport blue covers. Now go and check out what I said on some shit forum site run by the amazing randi.

  • @TheCobraman00 Actually 400 is about the limit. Some have seen higher, but rare. 96 to 98 came with a just a steel crank. As did the 99-02. The 97-98 is rated, tested and proved to withstand 1500hp. And just FYI, there are no 00 cobras, Ford stopped production and pulled all dealer materials. Cobra's New Edge 99,01,03-04.

  • @schicktd no turbos are powered by the exhaust gases from the car. i think what you are thinking of is one of those supposed supercharger scams. they run on an electric motor and they call them superchargers. If this is what youre thinking of then stop because these do nothing

  • this is a twin 76mm hp turbo system. the car makes around 1,400hp.

  • nice stang, but you need to find someone that knows how to tie a car to the dyno. two straps on each front wheel and two on the back frame. wouldnt need 3 dudes on the trunk (if its done right) i like how you hear those turbos over the exhaust

  • Those can't be bigger then 60's. I have the same kit and trust me, they don't need those dudes in the back. Guy who is doing the dyno definately doesn't know how to tie it down.

  • Not a stupid question. It all depends on where you can fit the turbos. In this guys case he has the larger 32valve heads vs the smaller 16valve heads. So to fit the turbos up high by the block it would be more work and modification than to put them down lower. Also when they are down lower as the car is moving it gets a "ram air" effect which helps the motor.

    I am sure someone will rip what I said apart because its youtube and thats how it goes.

  • Thats correct bro. On V8's i would actually perfer putting the Turbos down lower so it does get that Ram Air Effect espically when its TT. Just what i would do to the vette when i get the cash to do the heads and TT it from hennessy.

  • @wakeboardin2k4 I think it has more to do with the fact that the cobra has two cams per head than one. But ya adding more valves just might need a slightly bigger head.

    It sounded like you repeated what i stated but were saying that the twin cam is what makes the head bigger?

  • @wakeboardin2k4 I do believe its the two cams that contribute to the bigger physical dimensions of the head, rather than the number of valves because last I checked the overall cc of the combustion chamber is still the same, the area is more saturated with the extra valves but I dont think there would be a significant size gap if it was a sohc. With the cam gears, lubricationand some other factors are the main reasons for the bigger head size.

  • @ztunelover I agree with you that the Dual Overhead Cams are the reason for the larger physical dimensions of the head. But it does directly correlate to the number of valves. See with fords modular v8 motors they run a single cam with the 16valve heads and two cams with the 32 valve heads.

    I would imagine that the CI of the cumbustion chamber is the extremely similar. I would not think that ford would make the combustion chamber very different between the two heads.

  • @ztunelover I would only think that the CI of the chamber would be minutely larger in the 32 valve set up because of increased flow and the ability to fit more air in the cylinder that they would not want to make the compression ratio too high if they made the combustion chamber too small.

    So id say youre correct in your statement about the two cams creating the need for a larger head, but like I said, you wouldnt need two cams if it were not for the additional 16 valves.

  • @wakeboardin2k4 when you twin turbocharge the new edge 99-04 they sit in the front bumper no matter what engine 2v or 4v. There is no ram air affect because they sit behind the bumper cover underneath the headlights.

  • @fruhdaddy Ohhhhhhh got ya. I figured with the 2v there would be enough space in the engine bay to tuck the turbos right next to the block instead of having to run them down to the front of the bumper.
