@FluffyDrummer100 okay, thanks, because i'm looking into getting one, and thought this would be a good model, which it seems like it is, but i wouldn't hate being able to choke them. i feel like it would be one of those little things that eventually get on my nerves
PLEASE READ. THIS IS NOT A SCAM** I have a simmons SD7PK electric drum kit with custom parts on it. Im selling everything with my drums plus adding free items with. (like headphones and sticks). If you are interested in buying them, please email me at theconsumer1@gmail.com I can send pictures and everything.
@1234beer condition is good. works amazing. I have the ebay link here. If you email me at theconsumer1@gmail.com i can send you it. The price right now is 740. But if you buy soon, i will lower it for you. Please get back to me asap! Thanks for your time.
PLEASE READ. Guys this isn't a scam at all. I have this same exact kit but with 3 cymbals and a hi hat. Plus a Yamaha Kick pad i bought. Im selling everything with the drums. (including amp and everything) If your interested please email at theconsumer1@gmail.com
@mrfriggypops ok after looking at the head. if the snare is the only dual zone input then thats the only port you can use. so thats means one or the other. if your cymbals are dual zone then you can add one there.
DUAL ZONE SNARE + SPLIT-ER = 1 SINGLE SNARE & 1 SINGLE TOM
Guys they do make a cable where you can add a cymbal or toms. single to dual inputs. not anyone will work and your limited to how many but it can be done. i have the sd9k and am running two on it now. so im running 3 racks, 2 floors, 1 snare, 1 ride, 1 splash/chyna & 3 dual zone cymbals! and if you can afford $300 more buy the sd9k! more sounds, kits & music. plus it has a display to speed up switching kits mid song! and if you check guitar center you can find used sets all over the country!
@KMETAL22 That sounds awesome. I have not looked into the other models because I got this set as a Christmas present. If that's true, and it's only $300 more I'd also suggest that as well. Thanks for the info, man.
@justinstockton00 how many inputs does the module have? ive been thinking about geting it but i would want to expand it and get another 2 cymbals and a another tom..
Great sounding kit. I was looking for a sound like this on line; most drummers are using odd sounding kits like video games and stuff like that which is fine but it wouldn't work on stage in the bands I'm in. The kit you used is a nice realistic sounding kit, very useful! Thanks also for plugging straight into the recorder and avoiding ambient reflections from the room!
i the same model its alright one thing i dont like about it is i cant get as much rebound from my kick as i would other electronic kicks. but its a perfect kit for me to keep up my chops and when im practicing my bands songs at home song at home kinda
Have you tried using a wooden mallet? Or, something harder than felt? The less impact the mallet absorbs, the more rebound you will get... Just a thought.
@theninjadrummer123: ok "kick rebound" Need remember your NOT kicking a 22" X 50lbs bass drum. The unit is small and very light. So bolting the unit AND pedal down to a sheet of plywood or whatever will make everything SOLID feeling when you kick it. Next adjust your pedal to this and your good to go. You will be amazed by how much your speed & control will improve in a short time. AND wooden beaters are not the answer. Hitting a Trigger harder is not good for the long run. Triggers Fail!
Hi Justin! I just bought the same kit and it seems that the dual zone snare has some dead spot. I have to hit dead on center for the snare to respond. If I hit close to the edge/rim, the snare does not respond. Do you have the same problem? Thanks.
@utubeanderick Have you tried adjusting the gain/sensitivity? That may fix it for you. I was having some problems with the outer sensor being to sensitive and it would trip when I hit the inner sensor to hard. After playing with the gain/sensitivity settings the problem seemed resolved. Lemme know if this helps!
I just bought this drum kit because I havent played drums in 26 years. It is perfect for me, when I get my chops back I am going to go with a higher model. I do prefer E-drums over an acoustic because of all the variations I can do with the drum voices, and not to mention it is a real space saver and very easy to store. I do have friends that use this for gigs and it sounds fantastic! They do add on with separate percussion that they just use different channels on the sound board for.
You can not buy any add-ons for the kit. To get the extra cymbal, I just made the floor tom voice a ride cymbal and the ride cymbal to a second crash. I hope that makes sense.
I just bought this and i bought the extra cymbal pad so that i could have two crashes and a ride...How can I change the ride to a crash or add the extra pad for that matter?...please reply!
I just bought this and i bought the extra cymbal pad so that i could have two crashes and a ride...How can I change the ride to a crash or add the extra pad for that matter?...please reply!
@justinstockton00 That's odd that they didn't allow an upgrade path for this kit.... I'm plenty of users would drool over the thought of adding splash, timbales, and small woodblock/tambourine triggers.... wth, Simmons? I was about to buy this set, but am now looking upwards. :\
The pads aren't bad. It's about the same feel as a practice pad so you can get a lot of bounce if that's what you're looking for. They also make special sticks that have rubber running up through the center to deaden some of that. Those are what I use and it feels great to me.
it does not come with an amp. I bought a cheap simmons DA50 amp to go with it. I paid around a hundred bucks for it and it works pretty well for what I use it for. If you're into serious gigging, look elsewhere. The only output us a headphone jack and the main speaker. This kit is primarily for beginners and people who are looking to practice. I'm hoping to get a roland kit at some point soon... then I'll be serious...lol
@justinstockton00 I should clarify... the DA50 amp only has a headphone out. The kit itself has left and right 1/4" mono outs (to the amp) and a headphone out.
im 32 and just got the simons sdspk kit, I can play a little bit and im practicing every day, i hope i can be as good as you are one day. any suggestions?
@tbirdonfire it works okay. The only problem is the limitations. You only have essentially a five piece with two cymbals. You could set it up as a four piece with 3 cymbals and so on but you are very limited in what you can do.
As far as sound, I have had no problems with that. It's great kit to practice on.
can you choke the cymbals on this model?

@mrfriggypops - yes sir works with any electric kit, but will only be single zone per pad or cymbal using this cable
KMETAL22 8 months ago
Hey, I am trying to decide between this kit, the SD9K, a Yamaha kit, and a Roland kit. Does the SD7PK have dual zone cymbals?
Money is tight, so between this and the SD9K, which would you recommend?

@Felix5161 Sd9k hands down! Check guitar center, Theres always used kits on there.

No, the cymbals are are just one zone. The snare is the only thing with more than one zone; it has two. They are pressure sensitive though.
justinstockton00 1 year ago
does anyone know if the cymbals on this are 3 zone cymbals or if they just have one sound
windexter13 1 year ago
@windexter13 its just one zone with pressure sensativity - though if you want a dual zone cymbal you can change the snare to a cymbal
((it comes with 3 cymbals hihat- crash - ride - why not just use the ride as your bell if thats what your looking for?))
Im able to play accents on it as well
