Who gives a fuck about picking favourites or whatever, NIN always has and always will rule, stop being so negative trying to fucking prioritize everything
I was about 12 when I saved up enough to buy a CD player when The Fragile came out. It's the first album where I said without a doubt that it was the best album I ever heard.
There are many difference between TDS and TF album, but personally I prefer The Fragile; it´s so much deep, sensitive and beautifuly singing that other album fromj NIN. Hey! don´t get me wrong: I LIKE EVERY OF HIS ALBUMS.
Am I the only one who thought the 90s had the best music?
Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson, Nirvana, Rage Against the Machine, System of a Down, Daft Punk, The Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers. I just loved the electronic music movement and how much that influenced bands into creating new and original music. So much better than that hard rock bullshit in the 80s like Poison, Motley Crue and Gun's n Roses.
@cainmartel sorry there was heaps of bands i didn't mention but that just goes to show how good the 90s were for music. I'm also a Trent Reznor fanboy so I'll never think Marilyn Manson is as good (not that I think he's a wannabe but because I think he's more for show than music) . I still like some of his music though.
@crazychainsawkid1 haha sorry :O. i forgot that you have less than five hundred characters to show how many good bands there were in the 90s haha. you're right.. but a couple you didn't mention: Tool, Alice In Chains, Queens Of The Stone Age, Kyuss, Foo Fighters, Beck, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Smashing Pumpkins, Filter, Jane's Addiction, R.E.M., Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, The Offspring, Weezer, The Cure (I know they were there before the 90s, but they're a good band), and now i'm out of spa
I heard a story about Reznor n his buddies taking Manson out into the middle of nowhere, stripping him naked, blindfolding him and letting him find his way back. This was apparently right b4 Manson got big.
@NexCarnifex Assuming, of course, that you shared the exact same relationship with your grandmother that Reznor did with his grandmother. Perhaps he shared a much deeper bond with her--could you fathom that?
Jesus, "I lost some friends, I was in a really really bad place and really really unhappy...);" Your famous, have infinite money, uncountable fans, yet a couple of tough friendships gets you depressed? Fuck you!
@NexCarnifex you sound bitter (maybe very young as well). Sorry bout your grandmother but u should understand people handle their traumas in different ways and that doesn't make them a pussy...and fans and money don't buy happiness either.
@NexCarnifex Uuuuuummm...maybe money and fans aren't everything...? Geez....give him a little credit, I think the guy's a little bit more complex than that...I'd be annoyed if he was actually comforted by money in the wake of lost friendships...maybe you would be though. And that would be sad.
Okay, let's see you take up cocaine and alcoholism for a few years, writing block that keeps you from making the music that earns your living in the first place, and deal with your parents' death (his grandma basically raised him). Then make an album that sells millions. No? Then get the fuck out. Don't watch a video when you're intentionally going to just talk shit about it. That makes YOU the faggot, not us.
@liberamentis A lot of my friends are dealing with drugs and alcohol and shit and they're not whining about it, in fact there still pulling through with As which I'm sure you're whiny emo ass is far from. And oh shit, I have writers block. Well I'm sure that's tough but it's a lot easer to deal with when you're already super famous and can basically make anything that can sell, the unappreciated artists dealing with shit should be the ones complaining, but even to them they should stfu.
@NexCarnifex As if fame, money, and the attention lavished to you by complete strangers are superior to the maintenance, and establishment of, intimate friendships? Reznor shatters the layman's illusion: fame and money are NOT inherently greater than good friendships. His was an existential, not material crisis; something of which you evidently have NO comprehension.
I really get bored with people comparing albums like this. The Fragile is very different from Downward Spiral, both are valid, both explore different terrain. If one speaks to you more than the other, fine, but this absurd competition thing just brings down music and art to the level of most other things in this country. A big jack-off fest.
I love NIN i have my own solo music thing im trying and trent is my big inspiration im not the best in the world but could i have other peoples opinion on it? its at myspace /rankoffall
Nine Inch Nails has been on my mind for 22 years now, that sounds so wild now. I have admired and followed Trent Reznor for so many years, I hope that he lives to be 120 years old and I hope that he never changes, not for any one. What an artist what a mind, what a guy.
there are stupider comments. someone down there posted "pretty hate machine has always been my favorite" and i said "this guy is my idol" they both express a love for the band! so dont hate. (insert insult here)
I love his dismissive attitude towards the "You don't know, Britney or the Backstreet Boys..." question. Of course he doesn't know them, they were too busy making that "I want it that way" and "Hit me baby, one more time." bullshit.
OMG I remember watching this interview and being so excited for the Fragile to come out!! Then they played The Fragile at the awards show and I was blown away because I had never heard it before.
the fragile is one of the best albums of his time... it has everything...emotion, lots of energy.... and every song on this album is fucking amazing... most people dont understand
/decayedmatter, " heroin adiction"? Trent has talk about his past and adictions and never talk about heroin. And yes, he has a writer´s block, preesion, the end of the frendship with Manson, the death of his grandmother, etc ... I think you don´t know what you´re talking about.
All of Trents excuses back then were just lies to cover up his heroin addiction methinks. Makes sense now that i go back and watch these today, back then i was young and figured he just had writers block.
@Sundownerr IMO it wasnt dull and cheesy, but i can see where their coming from by saying that because the early 90s were the opposite of that, and you gotta remember when this interview happened, we were only 5 years removed the grunge era
This guy is everything you would see in a normal, deep thinker. The only difference being that he's got a talent to actually turn his thoughts into a great form of music for us all to behold. Great musician.
"You talkin to me?" but extra <3 to NIN been a pleasure to see them live back in the day and own most of their albums. shame theres still some EP's i need to get, but they're the ones that were used for America's release only.
the thing i love about NIN is the way they're unique but beautifully so that everyone can understand and relate to the music I don't think anyone could hate "la mer" "the frail" or "another version of the truth" those are beautiful songs if you didn't tell people they were done by a band called NIN they wouldnt believe that coz they'd think of the name being some screaming Slipknot wannabe band but they're not and that's what I love the fact that they're different but not too different.

Kurt Loder is quite possibly the biggest prick ever. It seems like he finds the details of Trent's problems funny and like he's trying to make Trent even more uncomfortable about the award show, which I'm sure Trent wasn't looking forward to anyway...fuck him.

Kurt Loder is quite possibly the biggest prick ever. It seems like he finds the details of Trent's problems funny and like he's trying to make Trent even more uncomfortable about the award show, which I'm sure Trent wasn't looking forward to anyway...fuck him.

i will never understand how some NIN fans don't like the fragile. The fragile is a Trent Reznor/NIN magnum opus.
