Value may be subjective, but what's not subjective is that there is a heavy value placed on education in this culture. Now you may not like the culture...that's your perogative. I do know that the most educated communities (and i do mean FORMAL education) in this country happen to be the most prosperous.

A degree may get you a higher paying job (which isn't so true anymore) but it definitely doesn't make you any smarter (unless its in a hard science of course) which is why I think its real lame when people brag about their degrees and thinks it makes them better then people who go straight to work after being let free from the government education camps (school)

The man is just a semester and thesis away from his masters degree despite holding down a career. That's an accomplishment. If black folks are gonna admire something, then THAT'S admirable. Black folks can sing, rap, dance and dunk basketballs. That shit doesn't impress me anymore.

He has money why bother with college other then for the "prestige" it gives you? Real dudes don't need that to have self esteem, they give value to they own lives and dont need a degree to make them feel smart.

A degree isn't whats "admirable" its what you do with it if you feel you need one to be successful.

And i agree that a degree isn't admirable, but working to attain one is most definitely admirable. It shows committment and the virtue of finishing something that one starts. What's the alternative to that? Or better, what's been a PROVEN alternative to that for successful black people? More education=more success.
