  • Jeezus. No1 understands a joke anymore lol...

  • I love the idiots who cycle on the pavements to avoid traffic lights. Ffs. And I am also amused by the absence of high-vis and cycle helmets. At least it is obvious why a 20mph speed limit is a good idea.

  • /watch?v=iuuZad0iQVU cycling in cambridge documentary

  • That's kinda really scary, I wouldn't want to bike or drive round there, don't you have bicycle lanes?

  • @Addisongrey There are many bicycle lanes, but not in the town centre...btw, Cambridge is one of the most cyclist friendly towns in the UK, with tons of bicycle lanes. Nearly all the Cambridge University students use a bike. It's everything but scary.

  • Why are they all driving on the wrong side of the rode? lol

  • @Life2dmax1 road *

  • @Life2dmax1 England..

  • odd cos everyone is on diff side of the road! (im from belgium XD)

  • wow cool

  • lol

  • Yay, St Catz! (My college - it's where the video was shot from)

I cycle along there every day. It's worst between 8:55 and 9 am.

And look how fresh and colourful the markings are :-) They're nothing like that now.

  • this is mental....

  • where in cambridge is this

  • If all you cagers think bikes have it so good then ride a bike youself. Has it ever occured to you that it woulod be better to get rid of the cars..

What gives car drivers rights to the road and somehow eveybody else has to get out of their way.

  • @KrunchyJD Because my truck weighs more than you.

  • @KatoKid85 Motorised vehicles have no more right to the road then bicycles. The people riding bikes are doing it to get from A to B, and just maybe you are holding them up sometimes as well. They have as much right to ride their bike on the road as you do to drive on it period.

  • I. Hate. Cyclists.

  • @superstartash you can't not cycle when in cambridge as a student. i hate the cars.

  • @1JjOoEe1

Ever heard of walking? Buses? At least, please consider drivers and pedestrians around you. No one likes getting assaulted head-on by a cyclist who appeared out of nowhere.

  • @superstartash funny thing is, that cars move much faster than bikes at the drop of a lazy foot on the gas pedal, so who's more likely to appear out of nowhere without time to react? Think things through, please.

  • @TVismyopiate

And pedestrians? Being run down by cyclists is hardly fun. WE don't see THEM coming, especially in places like fitzroy/burleigh street.

  • @superstartash Try looking, you don't say why you don't see them coming. Also why isn't your tax money spent on proper cycle lanes - a CHARITY is begging money for national cycle routes, for fuck's sake. This is Britain in 2011, where we suck the car's cock whilst tax money is spent on bombing Libya for oil and you blame the cyclist a little bit to readily, it seems (correct me if I'm wrong). Blame the car culture, the shit-for-brains politicians and the short-sighted pricks who vote them in!

  • Go out on the street and get hit by a car, you're not likely to walk away from 1000kg+ hitting you at 20mph-60mph+ - think about the momentum. Then try a 100kg or less of cyclist and bike at 10mph, the force doesn't compare! Sorry if people cycle like drunk and stoned gibbons in Cambridge, if that's the case, but most cyclists are the ones to suffer in a collision with anything, so their mentality, as a percentage, is far FAR better than those swanning about in their cars, phone at their ear...

  • @TVismyopiate

I'm not defending cyclists or motorists, both are road users and both should know how to properly use roads for everyone's safety. What this video clearly shows is that motorists are taking far more care on the roads than the cyclists, weaving frantically in and out of traffic. In such cases a pedestrian is more likely to get hit by a bike weaving around or coming onto the pavement, not a car.

  • If this were London, there would be constant -beep- -beep- -beep-

  • this is nothing compared to vietnamese traffic, which is one of the worst in the world.

  • I had the misfortune to be in cambridge yesterday . What a totally shit place to drive through . Not one road sign to help you get out of the place .Must be so little there , they dont want you to leave . Asked a local guy for directions , he agreed and said its a bloody hole lol .

  • @davemr1966 lol !

  • PCs having a good look at Cambridge themselves through CCTV - better late than never develop an interest !

  • If they got rid of the cars in this street imagine how much more space there would be for the cyclists who are in the majority, and who dont take up all the road space.

  • @KrunchyJD Who pays the road tax? Oh yes, car drivers do... And if you must insist on cycling on our roads, at least have the decency to watch where you're going, rather than weaving in and out of moving traffic like these morons.

  • @HelC001 Yeah right. If car drivers paid the full cost of driving they would pay approximately $5 US per litre in petrol tax + an additional $5000 when they purchased their car. This is based on Sydney Australia, but the figure their would be similar.

Cycling saves govt money on health costs, and bicycles unlike cars do almost no damage to the roads. Before CAGERS bitch about who pays for roads they should hope that user pays does not come into practice as they would be the losers.

  • @KrunchyJD Yeah but how am I going to haul a load of plywood on my bicycle? Or get to work when there is a foot of snow on the ground? Or take all the kids to school? Or how can I get laid in the back seat of a bicycle? Or go more than 30mph? Or travel in anything besides nice weather? Or travel long distances in a short period of time?

  • @KatoKid85 First off I never said there should be no motor vehicles anywhere, maybe not in this street. Secondly you can cycle in bad weather, thirdly if there was not so many cars on the roads and there was a safe way to go kids could ride their bikes to school. Fourthly cars have a habit of spreading out travelling distances because they demand too much space, so you can get from A to B actually quicker in a place designed for bikes. The Dutch cycle in the snow.

  • @KrunchyJD The Dutch do a lot of weird shit

  • @KatoKid85 No they dont, It is completely wierd for people design a city so that the only way to get around is by car, a vehicle that is about 1% efficient. It is stupider again to design a city that if designed normally you could walk to the same type of places you drive to in the same time. It is also madness to design the city solely on a form of transport that kills so many every year and causes so much pollution. The Dutch are smart, it is other countries that are stupid!

  • @KrunchyJD I se your point and can tell you are very passionet about it. I meant no offense.

  • @KrunchyJD the dutch ARE smart (a bit rude sometimes as they think too much of themselves, which can come with the territory of intelligence, but anyway...) Just come back from Holland, Belgium and France, and the French drivers give cyclists plenty of space (relatively), but drive too fast, never slow down. Dutch drivers I didn't notice much, now that's because they have good cycle provision, and ALL DUTCH WOMEN HAVE NICE LEGS. English girls don't compare in that regard = a stupid culture.

  • @KatoKid85 like having sensible drugs laws and proper bike lanes? Lots of weird shit, aye...

  • @TVismyopiate yeah i was kidding. the dutch rock

  • @HelC001 No you don't, general taxation does. Given that this video is from the UK, we'll discuss the British laws here, OK? I agree some of the weaving is dodgy on here, though, but how many of those car journeys are unnecessary, especially in a built-up area at rush hour?

  • @HelC001 car drivers DO NOT pay Road Tax, do some fucking MINIMAL research instead of spouting myths! They might pay tax on their vehicles, but it's not directly for roads, EVEN THOUGH cars and heavier vehicles weigh around 10x more than cycles, and destroy the road much quicker, and so SHOULD pay for the road, even though they are very inefficient and to be discouraged where not absolutely NECESSARY.

  • darn! I must have crossed that pedestrian crossing a zillion times

  • poor cars...

  • @BiruRyu87 Poor bike riders, why not get rid of the cars, they are causing the danger.

  • This is why I walk to lectures :P

  • I just joined the club. Bikes FTW!

  • i live in the house on the left, its bloody annoying

  • theyre not going to do study. they're all off to do your mum. fact!

  • god the drivers must absolutely hate them!

  • @teaganbruvv Bugger the car drivers, it is obviously faster on a bike, and why accomodate cars in such a situation.

  • why are the lines squiggly?

  • @plantiumrocky

it means not cars can park or wait there... except in traffic

  • @plantiumrocky The lines are squigly to indicate no parking at all! Because there is a crossing in the middle of them hence the traffic is stationary every so often.

  • big up bikes

  • i know that. i´m a student, too. but in berlin/ germany at the technical university.

  • Time for police to fine cyclists in cambridge

  • No niestety taka jest rzeczywistość.

  • Great time-lapse video!!!

    Cambridge is beautiful

  • I love Cambridge, my bike, and riding around like a hooligan on my bike. I even get satisfaction when old men shout at me for doing so.

@ WLBFC - Either drive or get a taxi? There are too many things wrong with that statement to explain in 500 characters.

  • i recommend riding fixed gear

    its sick

theres a large group in cambridge now

  • Fixed gear, do you mean a bike with only one gear or a pedal stop, or a sasquatch with a grudge? Please enlighten ;-)

  • the bikes remind me of insects in this situation, getting in the way of all the cars at risk of being squished

  • @Maximumart "ALL the cars". What, the cars were getting in the way of the majority who were on bikes, bugger the cars.

  • I drive....and I work in Cambridge. This is my experience EVERY day.

  • look at them - they're like cattle. But cattle on bikes

  • SO MANY BIIIKES! xDD

  • that is an accident waiting to happen

  • I disagree. Cyclists are fine as long as they stick to a code and don't get in anyone's way. I cycle daily. You probably never learned how to ride a bike which is why you declare everyone who can a "cunt" which is just a lame insult.

Yep, nothing like a youtube idiot to, one hopes, make feel sheepish of his or herself.

  • I can ride a bike, and used to regularly when I was a young child.

Now I drive, I realise the majority of cyclists are a menace, paying no attention to the laws of the road but blaming motorists for any near accident. I often see cyclists go through red lights, turn without displaying that they are about to and such.

Thanks to cyclists, car drivers have to be on their guard throughout their journey in case some careless cyclist does something dangerous.

Either walk, drive or get a taxi eh.

  • I cannot deny that a great number of cyclists are a source of a number of accidents, but what you said about drivers needing to be on their guard throughout their journey just seems compulsory.

Cyclists learn laws of road, THEN get back on the road.

  • Hahaha, either get smart or shut up, anyway dont you have hockey to watch eh?

  • Why would I watch hockey son?

  • Haha, good question eh? Don't end your sentences like a Kanuk.

  • Pipe down.

  • @WLBFC Suck my pipe and I'll think about it.

  • @WLBFC Crap, as the larger more dangerous vehicle car drivers should be on guard at all times. If all those people on bikes suddenly drove cars it would be gridlocked EVEN MORE..

  • @WLBFC Hey genius, cyclists behave like that because there are only 24 hours in a day and waiting for traffic lights AFTER waiting for all the congestion (cars) is a pain, they see car drivers driving like fools, etc. It would be a good excuse, but personally I also find it weak of cyclists. But it ain't the majority necessarily. I drive and cycle DAMN WELL: matter of pride. I have cycling proficiency, Driving Licence (100% correct exam), I drive, but not in London as it's stupid to do so.

  • That's trippy!

  • CAMBRIDGE FTW

  • ROFL. That's awesome. Cambridge FTW.

  • listen to this with yakety sax in the backbround

  • getting stuck in that is the funnyest thing ever, nobody really cares about cars and shit so you basically cycle where you want!

  • how many bikes do you want lol

  • insects

  • hot damn, look at the way the bikers weave around cars as if they were rocks! you gotta love it.

  • @bluntedinatx 'cyclists', not bikers, but then I forgive you for your American English, my toker brother. You're right about the motion being cool - especially when blunted, that kind of motion is cool.

  • @TVismyopiate "BIKERS" not "cyclists". Cyclists just sounds.......well.........gay

  • WOOO!! MY CITY xD

  • cambridge :) guna miss it when i leave this year :( its just a joy to live in :)

  • awesome

  • this time of ay is easy traffic lol try 3pm on a friday at the crossroad by the firestation, thats a lot of traffic!

  • Parkside ^^

  • Nope.... the corner of Silver street.

  • I was talking about the crossroads at the Firestation...

  • i live here ! movie , so great .

  • i love Cambridge!

  • can you say, "fast-forward" ?

  • ya! to show how much traffic and people there are within a small amount of time!

  • its amazing///

  • Totally awesome!!! Cambridge rocks!!!

  • Nutty nut nuts!!!!

  • Which road is this?

  • EPIC....

  • I can see my house from here.

  • Strangely hypnotic ... very flat Cambridge - great for bikes.

  • thats madness, i dont drive that part of cambridge in the morning thankfully. There is no point, you may as well walk!

  • Beijing Or Cambridge LMao

  • busy world.

  • Watching this changed my life.

  • Please tell me how!

  • It's just beautiful, you know? All the Bikes and Noises coming together as one. Truly epic stuff taking place in this vid. I definetely watch it once a day to keep the doctor away.

  • Its cool, but not THAT amazing,

i think youd really enjoy the sims. lol

  • The Sims is garbage, I've just been sarcastic about the video the whole time if I'm honest What would inspire somebody to upload it? Someone who doesn't play The Sims, that's who!

  • @krisambuca HAHA ;D Like your humor

  • Deliciously quaint.

  • grat,in italy are otherside, your bike for car, and car for bike! stupid italian people

  • Wow is that every day like that??

  • yep

  • awesome video. can anyone tell me what the white zig zag lines are about on the roadway?

  • I'm guessing it's some sort of a bike route??

that or it's an indicator on where the bus is to stop. I'm not sure. I don't even live in Cambridge :P Just a guess.

  • The zig-zag lines are the markings to show the approach to a pedestrian crossing, where it's illegal to park or overtake the vehicle nearest the crossing.

  • thank you

  • lol all the bikes at 0.26

  • Lots of near misses. Was this filmed over a minute? I know that it is sped up.

  • Ha I hated that street.. I actually used to go to little st. mary's too

  • Haha, ok ok calm down it was just a joke.

  • Bet your from Oxford

  • With your spelling I bet you're from a Chav comprehensive.

  • so you just said the people in cambridge were arrogant and then you talk down at people from comprehensive schools?

  • There should be a comma between 'spelling' and 'I'.

  • I think you'll find it's taken from the corner of King's Parade with the University Press building on the right and St Botolph's churchyard to the left. Little St Mary's is further on the right, beyond Emmanuel URC.

Interesting video though, even if some are confused by their left and right!

  • It's taken from a 'Silver Street Flat' on the top floor of St Catharine's College

  • u cn tell its cambridge look at all the bikes lol

  • me in red van cool!!!!!!!!!!

  • heeh crazy rush. Great vid

  • Cyclists are dangerous? It's motor vehicles that are *REALLY* dangerous. Which do you think are responsible for 3,500 deaths a year in the UK?

  • I assume you don't live in Cambridge then. The cyclists around here mostly seem to have death wishes.

  • You haven't answered the question - how many people are killed by cyclists each year, and how many by motorists?

  • My previous post was in response to mrjfin's question,

" is anywhere in US so many bycyclers? vs cars i dont believe so!"

  • bip

  • is anywhere in US so many bycyclers? vs cars i dont believe so!

  • its the uk you moron

  • mrjifin was sayingthat there wasn't anything like this in the usa..mron

  • well he should of worded it better then.

  • He should HAVE worded it better, then.

  • I don't think so, not in the U.S., unless it's some sort of charity ride to raise money and that would be a one or two day event.

America is a car centric society. For a large part bicycles are still thought of as toys

The rising price of oil is making alot of Americans to make changes to their habits and life styles.

I would say that most Americans would drive to the bathroom if they could.

  • and thats why i hate cambridge!!! ive lived in and around cambridge all my life and the bikes and studants drive u up the wall!!!!! they have no consideration of other road users and that vid just proves that. im just trying to work out where that is. i think its near the fitzwilliam and market square

  • id guess and say the road where the fitzwilliam is but i aint sure

  • What street is this?

  • it's the one heading to fitzwilliam museum. On the right you have Peterhouse and on the left Pembroke college.

  • Its Trumpington Street to the left is the church of St Mary the Less

  • im a server at the church of st mary the less also known as little st marys

  • David this church is verry interesting as it has the memorial to Godfrey Washington , Georges uncle, on which is the arms of the family , Stars and Stripes, its obvious that george used that as the flag of the U.S

  • lol thats awesome! very nice! cycling/walking/doing anything without a car looks so dodgy with 4x speed!

  • Wonderful to see my dear old home town , by the way ,did you know that Cambridge ranks %th among NATIONS of the world for the number of Nobel Prizes? it has earned more than France.

  • Sorry , Typo that should have reas 5th among nations.

  • damn skippy mate! cambridge owns

  • cool video..pedal power!!!

  • i am working in Cambridge at the moment and the amount of cyclists is staggering! i live in norwich - which is second to cambridge in bike use, and there are nowhere near as many!

  • Im a van driver in cambridge and have been for five years and somehow ive never hit one of these bastards

  • Knock on wood mate :)

  • My favourite is the one who does a U-turn at 00:19.

  • goddamn students. coming to my town and cycling the wrong way down sydney street!

  • Great Video!

  • lol mental. Love how you got all the squeks of everyone's brakes lol

  • ha! i'm from cambridge and I bike all the time, it is totally like that every single bloomin day, there's no point driving in cambridge, bikes are THE method of transport

  • wow, its like when you see army ants swarming out to look for food, I half expected them to chew that bus up and take it back to their nest.
