I hope to hell Freddie didn't cause a riot!! What we need is a YouTubePlus site where great historical footage is not bothered with the other mainly crap shite that everyone else posts. Actually we just need a Freddie king site. FredTube. I'd pay for Fredtube.
this is an incredible, fantastic piece of film. it's right up there with footage of king curtis' funeral -- with duane allman and cornell dupree playing -- which has been removed from youtube. thank you for posting and keeping this available!
Phenomenal. Of the three Kings, Freddie is still my favourite. He's mellifluous, such a rich voice, such great guitar. Thanks for shooting this back then, it's very much appreciated here and now.
This is great. i remember seeing him open up for Grand Funk. He was one of the cats my Dad introduced me to on the record player at home. Thanks for posting. Most Jazz cats get too uppity and don't get deep into the blues. This obviously doesn't apply to cats like George Benson and Lou Donaldson, to name few.
Thank you so much for sharing this great piece of Americana! Freddie's voice is just at it's absolute peak and his guitar playing is just amazing! What a kind soul he was! Love it!! Joey Vaughan "World Blues Attack"
Leon Russell had the good sense to include two acoustic numbers, "Walkin' By Myself" and "Dust My Broom", on Freddie's album "Getting Ready". This is a GREAT video and thanks SO much for creating and posting it! I miss Freddie terribly to this very day.
What an amazing video! Gives me the chills. This is what the blues are all about. Never heard FK play acoustic. Never heard him sound more funky. You can tell he really liked playing for the female inmates! Cool is the rule. Thanks for filming and posting this, Ric!
Thanks for posting that, that is one of the most awesome performances I have seen. I like how he always says he can't play an acoustic guitar... funny how that even though he supposedly can't play one, as soon as he touches it, blues just oozes out of it.... fantastic!
"im not too good on this type of guitar", come on freddie, if i could play an acoustic anywhere near as good i would happily die tommorow a happy man, amazing guitar player, pure pure soul and feeling, what a legend!!
It really is a bigger shift than you might think to play acoustic after you have played electric a lot. The feel of the neck is much much different -- It always messes me up at first. I'm impressed at how flawless he plays though.
this is county jail not death row just havin a good time with some petty criminals what's the big deal. freddy may have turned one of these criminals by showin them some respect.
Me and my band played at a mental asylum once. It was so sad to see all those young people all doped up. God bless Freddie for taking the time to spread a little bit of positive energy.
... Mindblowing... Freddie the KING... RIP! Thanks for sharing this with us all, Mr. Sternberg. I had only read of this... now to actually have seen it... amazing.
Thanks for the posing I first saw this in the mid to late 80s and finally got a copy a few years back.. When they drive up in the caddy thats classic. He is and will always be my favorite bluesman..RIP Freddie..
This is great footage, I love to see what an entertainer Freddie used to be. Great music too! Thanks for sharing! I'm 26 yrs/o but he is one of my favourite artists of all time.

What a fantastic, moving and magical piece of film.
Great to hear Freddie playing an acoustic.
This man had music in his soul, his performance is so intense, I'm hoping but I don't think we will ever see his kind again.
Such a tragedy that he died so young.
