  • You are a beautiful man! Saved me from taking my bike in to get it serviced. Thanks a million!

  • I adjusted mine like you did but they still touch when i spinn the wheel just a touch each time it goes around. But I dont think it does it when i rid :S

  • cool clip. has helped me loads

  • Excellent how-to video. Well done sir!

  • Brilliant instructions, best I've seen. Thanks!

  • awesome video, every detail is touched upon to expel all questions on a properly functioning break system.

  • I have a problem with installing my rear avid code 5 where the gap is to small for the disk to go into and i try to pry apart but they would not move..How can this be done

  • Thank you sooo much!!! I finally got rid of the irritating noise coming from my rear brake. Always thought it was dirt in my brakes, but but no I know they were just poorly allined. thnx

  • Thanks. Great video that dispels all of the mystery surrounding disk brakes. Good man!

  • Thank you this video helped me so much :D

  • Took my bike to evans cycles, asked them to fix the brakes, didn't fix the brakes, just tightened them. Fucking £20.

  • @derekmcd154 easiest way is to just use a pad spacer and push in them. failing that, use a screw driver and lever them apart, but if your really worried you can just take the pads off and do the same. :)

  • accidentally hit the brake lever in the middle of the pad change (like a dope). How do you get them to retract so the pads can then fit back in? Thanks in advance!

  • R they hydrolic or not

  • Shit

  • tightening them iso-metrically, than do the same with the bolts that mount on to the brake caliper thing.

Step 4:Adjust the brake levers, there should be a little bolt on the inside of the lever, near the handlebar, adjust that so it extends farther out (away from the bar) this will make the pads come in contact earlier, so you dont have to pull to the bar, adjust to your liking.

Step 5: Test em out, drive fast and keep braking a few times to wear em.

M breaks atm, are touchy, 1 cm, they grab :)

  • This is what i did thumbs up so everyone can do it to.

Step 1: Take of the rotors from the rim, clean them with Rubbing Alcohol 50%, and clean your pads with them too. Maybe even sand the rotor or pads with 250 Grid or finer.

Step 2: Put them back on make sure they are dry, also push the pistons back in all the way.

Step 3: Squeeze brake lever couple of time to re adjust brakes, than loosen the brake post mount thing. Loosen the ones that bolt to the frame, than hold the trigger down while tight

  • i made a big mistake and applied a little bit of oil to my disc and now it won't brake as good... what do you recommend me to do?

  • @renzo1540 I'm afraid you will need new brake pads - and don't forget to clean the rotor properly before you install the new brake pads.

  • I'm giving this a thumbs down however 90% of this IS right, you shouldn't re-set pistons before aligning the wheel in the drop outs and aligning the calliper. It should be last.

Aligning the wheel should be done on the floor and when aligning the calliper, the rotor should run completely in the middle of it. Once both of these steps are done, then you can align the pistons.

They should hit at the same time then release at the same time. If you need to fine tune, use a flat head on the opposi

  • Excellent video.

  • Not unless you whant to buy new rims (75to 2000$ ) new fork (120 to1000) and the brakes(40 to400)

It's bet er to just buy a new bike if you whant disk

  • i got v brakes on my bike can i put disc brakes?

  • Nice one Jules ! I'm fairly new to disc brakes and their maintenance and you vid here helped sort me out 10 fold ! Great tip using the plastic tyre levers to push back the pistons. I would have never thought of that . Cheers mate

  • Hi, great video - thank you.

Where can I get the piston pushback tool at 2:33 from ?

  • @elvisgbnjg Thats just a plastic tire lever.

  • @1982tamasuperstar Thank you :)

  • excellent video thanks

  • thank you, i've just installed new ones. That's how you demonstrate things, i checked 4 videos before none explained how to take old pads out! Mines are shimano m525 clip one

  • does adjusting the front disc break also applies to adjusting the rear disc break??? need help please...:(

  • @sergeiboi Yes, the process is the same.

  • @evanscycles tnx man...!

  • @evanscycles I have avid juicy 3 brakes. thay make a king of ultrasonic sqeek when the wheel turns... Should I lubrify the rotor or just use disc brake cleaner like in the vid???

  • @sergeiboi do you do this to tighten them up or have u got another video showing how to to that?

  • Great video..keep on..

  • Great video. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

  • Hi, great video - can you tell me what the tool is called that you used to push the calipers back into the pots....

    Thanks

  • Perfect, just what I needed, nice job

  • Nice vid. Aren't Avid Juicy pads a nightmare to take out and out back in! I've just got a set of Hopes and they're so much easier to work on.

  • Best "how to" for disc brakes on the web. Great pace and very clear camera and commentary. Much appreciated.

  • Great job. I think this is just what I need

  • Thank You! The Best Video On Youtube. You Explained It Clearly And Made It Easy To Understand! Cheers =)

  • I just wanted to say this is the pro video I been looking for, I think you guys are in the leag of it's own. Thanks for making this video.

  • when you gonna bleed your hope brake there how big is the torx screw on the cap?

  • @TheBbrevik The newer HOPE levers use a T10 torx to remove the master cylinder reservoir cap. Older HOPE levers commonly have a 2mm hex bolt.

Note** check the condition of the diaphragm – this is a perishable part.

  • fantastic video. just want I needed to explain disc brakes!

  • Good video: thorough and clear plus with good sound and a steady camera.

  • the later part of this video was very helpful to me..

good tip about lining up the calliper
