To give an example, listen to Feathergun in the Garden of the Sun. He come's really close. I mean really close to just letting go and attacking the song. But in the end, his technique, melodic tone, and control keep him in check. Not to say those are bad qualities (they're quite impressive and amazing actually), but it would feel more emotional and gut wrenching to her him get worked up and intimate.
The one thing that disappoints me about this band - The singer never truly cuts loose, just wail and let it out. He sounds in control the whole time (if you get what I mean). I want to feel like there's a sense of progressing chaos in the music. But that's just me ;)
I couldn't disagree more, I've seen the band about a dozen times live, and have all their albums. Drew does exactly that in several of the songs, live or not.
