for a second there i thought that this was bach himself because this person plays it like Bach himself !!! Its a stunning performance and i like it! !!!
my teacher just gave me this piece....i always listen to as meany people play them as i can on youyude and different sites, but this piece is the only one i can listen to over and over and over and love the way he plays it even better every time i here it. amazingly beautiful.
Would also like to say about the Gould "rushing" thing, I think it is important to realize that his very fast tempi in many cases are part of an overall conception of the piece and should be judged in that context and not in an isolated fashion. I think many of us can see his aim to describe the transcendence of these pieces perhaps in another mode, that of transcendence of physical limitations? Just an idea.
to cancrizans -surfing through YT I too often see personals taste getting into absolute statement. All these great interpreters from Leonhardt to Gould show us a personal line towards Bach universe.Obv.I have my favourite
renditions but anyhow I daily listen to those I dislike learning sth.about J.S.B.-Greetings.
Gould's music was deeply thought, deeply felt, deeply intelligent. I respect his universe even when I can't relate. Over-rated is a strong word and can't be applied to something so subjective.
I completely agree with Hyperbolic- in general I find Gould terribly overrated. This performance captures in general a great Baroque atmosphere (perhaps a bit too romantic, althugh very expressive), including some interesting ornamentation.
This is an excellent performance, very sensitive and preserving the Baroque qualities of the music. I've seen some really silly comments about Gould posted on Youtube; I am becoming convinced that half those who make them are simply spitting out what they read some overeducated non musical critics babble, because if you LISTEN to Gould on any serious and honest level you cannot use word like overrated to describe his playing.
Lovely! This is one of my favorite Bach pieces for keyboard. Admittedly, I'm more partial to the Glenn Gould version, but it's nevertheless refreshing to hear it performed somewhat more slowly and tenderly. Thanks for posting!

i like the left hand's "controlledness" when it's subtle when the right hand takes over!

i love the dynamics in the left hand, how when the right hand sort of "takes over", it is very controlled and subtle

I do think this is a remarkable performance, for it is not a recording in studio, where you can begin again.
This is live performance, and what's played is played.
Definitely 5 *

Fantastic.....fluid, relaxed yet precise and lyrical, as good an interpretation of Bach as any I've heard. I found it very moving....

I think this is even better than glenn gould's version. This is more singing and not so mechanical than gould's version.

His clarity, quality and interpretation on specially Bach's works are just simply divine. His playing was clean, simple, beautiful, and virtuosic!

Nice! And way better than this Glenn Gould guy who seems to be so overated for rushing through pieces. The speed is just right on this.
