Another thing: CD track numbers are getting smaller and smaller. It used to be that I could get a 20 track CD for $11.97, now it's $18.95 for an 11 track CD. I call bullcrap! I know everything is more expensive now, but REALLY? If I'm actually going to buy a CD, I'll get it off of Amazon downloads for 1/3 the price of in store.
@Rigicai05 This was from 2006. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure there was a lot more shitty 3MB files when you tried to download. An "audiophile" is someone who actually cares about sound quality. CD quality songs are usually around 8 or 9MB.

i fucking hate it when i take out the part that has the album cover on it, just to like read the lyrics or recording info, then being the dumbass i am, i lose it and the cd case now just looks weird when i look at the front of a cd. i end up just looking for a totally new disc just for the superficiality of being able to see the original artwork.
I love cds and vinyls! I hate downloading music! Really how great is it when you find a rare album in a store! You can't get that from downloading music. How great is it to hold your cd or vinyl, look at the art work, and see who wrote what song. You can't get that in MP3! Real music fans still buy cds and vinyls!
all this + easily scratched discs is why people download music AND movies. It's too much of a hassle to bother with physical copies. I don't even know that many people who even listen to the CDs they own anymore, because they've all been uploaded to their computers and mp3 players. Hell, all of my CDs are in a cd wallet that hasn't been opened in probably 3 years or more.

But some song on itunes are also only in packs. Why do these artist expect you to buy all their filler crap. Digipack cases, I actually like, not because they're supposedly biodegradeable or environmentally friendly, but I buy most stuff online, and plastic cases get damaged or broken in transit, while digipack cases usually don't; sure, digipack cases still have the possibility of being damaged, but I find that less often with digipacks than plastic cases.
I still buy CDs, if only so I can extract uncompressed audio, rather than downloading or BUYING MP3s (really compressed audio), seeing as how I put it on a portable digital audio device, anyway, provided that it's able to handle lossless audio.
Foamy left something out, which I am sick of: Bonus release. Seriously, If you have songs but leave them off the CD just to "save space" or to simply create a bonus disc re-release, then your a dousche. I you have the songs, put them on the goddam CD! If you just wrote new stuff, save it for the next album you bunch of jack asses! Have some respect for your fanbase and its intelligence!
the paper cases are indeed somewhat idiotic, I recently bought the last two gorillaz albums and both were packed like this. (Kind of Ironic to package an album called 'Plastic Beach' in a cardboard case if you ask me xD
@keniakittykat I've taken to cutting up the cardboard cases and put them in a regular plastic jewel case and the booklet, which features the album artwork, fits perfectly in the front of the plastic case. Fuck the paper cases!

@TheTelenation exactly! they should give you a choice, in between a 5 dollar carboard and a 5 dollar plastic one which one are you going to buy? plastic should be worth more and carboard less. and the whole ' saveing the enviroment crap' with the carboard, if you collect CDs its pretty obivious its not going in the street, you'll probably keep it in the case anyway.

when I used to work at KB Toys, and had the task of putting the "store stickers" on products, I made sure that the ones I bought didnt have the stickers in places where it would ruin what I bought. I hate disk right protection for the fact I rip songs from the CD unto MY and only MY MP3player.Who the f-ck even carries around a CD player anymore?It's not like CD players are bad devices it is just annoying as hell when you keep going through batteries every goddamn day. If it isn't the blue screen of death it's distorted music, or partial songs. HELL if the CD even plays in my drive.In France this protection was ruled defective merchandise after CDs failed to play in car CD players.
I love CDs, so i found a way to take off the stickers without residue (takes forever tho) but all i do is take the sides of the sticker, peel very gently and slowly, from the bottom up and it normally comes off without and stickiness :P CDs are becoming a pain but i'm Nostalgic dammit! lol
@AliceAeroMCR Same, I could get an IPOD, but you know there is something I love about CDs. While IPODs may crash every year and effectively you loose all your songs. Or maybe it was a stupid moment on your end. But CDs, well CDs can last a life time if given love and care.

I dont mind buying the cardboard covers but I don't think I should pay top fucking dollar for it.

@TheTelenation exactly! they should give you a choice, in between a 5 dollar carboard and a 5 dollar plastic one which one are you going to buy? plastic should be worth more and carboard less. and the whole ' saveing the enviroment crap' with the carboard, if you collect CDs its pretty obivious its not going in the street, you'll probably keep it in the case anyway.

@allie16612suzulady I think the 'green' thing is that it takes less pollution to Produce the cardboard ones but a choice should definetly be available! cardboard ones may saze space in the car so that may appeal to ppl but we shouldn't pay top dollar for second rate products.

Noone hardly buys cds anymore, I still do, But what pisses me off is the quality of the cd case and cover, it's piss poor and I don't wanna have to spend 20-30 bucks on something that was made in the 70s but is now popular because of a fucking movie like The Runaways. Even 10 dollars for an old cd like david bowie is too much,

when I used to work at KB Toys, and had the task of putting the "store stickers" on products, I made sure that the ones I bought didnt have the stickers in places where it would ruin what I bought. I think it was fun to see how many places I could put store stickers on packages to inflict the most damage.

I hate disk right protection for the fact I rip songs from the CD unto MY and only MY MP3player.Who the f-ck even carries around a CD player anymore?It's not like CD players are bad devices it is just annoying as hell when you keep going through batteries every goddamn day. If it isn't the blue screen of death it's distorted music, or partial songs. HELL if the CD even plays in my drive.In France this protection was ruled defective merchandise after CDs failed to play in car CD players.

I love CDs, so i found a way to take off the stickers without residue (takes forever tho) but all i do is take the sides of the sticker, peel very gently and slowly, from the bottom up and it normally comes off without and stickiness :P CDs are becoming a pain but i'm Nostalgic dammit! lol
