  • I have a mental image when this is playing of a New Orleans wake...

  • my guy ry cooder

  • classic vintage late 60's stones...mick taylor playing electric lead over keith's open C tuning Dobro....check out also Fred Mcdowell original...thanks for posting...getting back to the roots ....carlrock.....gary.....new york...

  • 40% of this video is credits! Sheesh! Enough already...

  • @stpetric LOL Can't help that the song is only 2:34 seconds long.

  • nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • what the hell?

  • @lustdemon06 what the hell on how you got here?? Well, youv'e just found yourselves some good music!

  • This song has two slide players, I would bet Keith is on the acoustic, and Ry Cooder is on the electric slide.

  • awesome

  • ry cooder doesnt play on this track, the slide was actually keith richards on a telecaster, 'cause he commented that there is always a better slide player in the band than him, but he played it on this track, as did midnight rambler and you got the silver from Let it Bleed

  • feforest4fertility, apparently you don't know this, but the Stones did a lot better than give attribution, they gave all the royalties from their cover to Fred Mcdowell. It was a considerable amount of money.

  • @izzydunne You're right, I didn't know that. Thx. And good be upon them for doing so.

  • someone who says they "stole" this song obviously doesn't know a thing about the stones, or about the concept of covering a song.

  • @alexander4200 maybe you dont know a thing about giving attribution, acknowledging your source when you cover a song

  • A fantastic cover, and a very fitting tribute to the master himself, Mr. Fred Mcdowell.

  • sticky hot move.. wow

  • In his book The True Adventures of the Rolling Stones, Stanley Booth writes in detail about this recording session, and the development of this song in particular - the studio version is different from how Mick and Keith played it on stage.

  • mississipi fed mcdowell actually thaught them how to plays this, thats why the style is so similar ;)

  • @JacquelineGaertner Really?! I didn't know that. Where did you find out? I actually prefer the original version by Fred himself, but the Stones did a good job covering it. I guess I know why now!

  • Lets raise the sand- did they steel it from Rev Gary davis or not?

  • @1canyonguy I know Mississippi Fred McDowell did a version of this in the 30's or something. I'm sure someone else did it before him though....

  • @JFizoust McDowell co-wrote it with Gary Davis.

  • @dwreves where did you get your info on that?

  • @1canyonguy: They didn't steel it but they ironed it.

  • Thanks for sharing!! Love it:)
