looks like a good way to generate power flexibility and feeling. btw for those that don't believe in shit like this maybe u should try emersing urself in it just a little bit and see if it effects u in any way
@magicnoland well the motions are flow forms, once you master it you can basically deflect any attack and also put yourself in a great position to attack. its a defence that has tremendous offencive capabilities. and i have used it in many fights, its very useful ;)
wow! that was amazing and i felt compelled to write a comment. Thank you for posting a demonstration of such high level push hand skill! I hope I may one day be able to achieve some of this! Many thanks
Oh how I love Tai Chi, this pushing hands demo is wonderfull. It made me smile, especailly when they where walking quickly across the lawn, marvelous stuff.
Oh how I love Tai Chi, this pushing hands demo is wonderfull. It made me smile, especailly when they where walking quickly across the lawn, marvelous stuff.
What wonderful grace and form. Maybe in twenty or so years I'll be able to do push hands this well!! Regardless, the learning process is the most important and enjoyable.
@wuyingfeng Thank You, I have a great Master, from the Wu Tan lineage. But I am currently studying multiple forms so growth is slow, but I love learning. I recently got excepted into the discipleship classes; and am looking forward to spending the rest of my life learning the Wu Tan styles. I do appreciate your encouragement though! God Bless.
@inkstainz2277 come on now, don't be so hard on yourself, anyone can learn to dance.Do not listen to anyone, not even me.Fallow the theories, question them, analyze them contemplate them until you understand them inside and out.Don't be fooled, its not hard these days anything is for sale now,and the blockages in the mind are hard to let go of cause there all self created. What is the truth?Have you looked withen, study real hard, the theories and you will see, alls you are doing is destroying identity.
Tai Chi Push Hands is a double training methods which practitioners can exercise the perception of the other power direction, placement, and work out their own coping strategies, rapid uniform each other.
@DJGahann It looks like its about balance juxtaposed to another force like surfing but the wave is the other person which is also doing what your doing(unlike a wave).
@DJGahann Push hands is about trying to uproot your opponent's energy/chi. It is also about trying to keep your own energy/chi centered. Kind of like a game/competition...
@Kingisaac101 Thanx for the explanation i'm trying to learn pushing hands and how it works. I wanted to ask do you know what the differences are between the different sorts of pushing hands are and what they serve for?
@DJGahann One of the uses of pushing hands is to develop sensitivity and is used when Taiji / Tai Chi is used as a martial art. In a lot of ways its similar to the sensitivity concepts learned in Wing Chun's "Chi Sao" Training.
Hello,I watched the video what you give me.the old master is Ma Yueliang,a representative successors of wu style tai chi chuan.he had good tai chi chuan skill.but in this video, because he was very old,his opponent only use feeling, not use power.if his opponent push hand with more power or energy, another result will happen.
any one that knows anything about this performance will know that it is a great example of a thai chi form.that means it is a pre decided set of movements designed to promote health, strength, sensitivity and order for the human mind & body.at 1st a way of coming 2 terms with ones own body, and then perhaps an understanding of anothers intentions by reading his or hers body.it can after years of practise be helpfull in a fight.
however, its continued benefit will be far beyond that of fighting.
This is really difficult, it's about 'feeling' defense and attack moves. You can also do this with women by the way, it's supposed to be done softly with a 'chessplaying' kind of mind
@jmangonepro that is wrong, you move relaxed and like a chain, when one starts to use force they tense up causing them to put a kink in the chain and that causes the chain to break.you do use power but the power comes from circles and the power they give you, its not as obvious what is going on when its 2 skilled people because they are good at keeping the chain going and not stoping the energy
@MDNSBS Wow, obviousy its with force. Without force tai chi doesnt work. Your are suppose to be relax and calm no matter what martial arts you do. And just like you said you use the power they give you. Somewhat right your just using his power that he is directing to you, so you can make him fly even farther. Man, listen to what you said. You clearly contridicted yourself.
The low stance issue. You try doing 'snake creeps down' in tai chi (im learning it) which is the precursor to their low stance push hands. OK im not the fittest guy in the world but even doing it for a few seconds hurts.
Then trying to add a martial slant to it with push hands to keep balance is even more harder. In fact if its so easy do it.
Only a beginner would say such words of bravo to their hard work.
It is "Martial" and truly an "Art" to watch. As for those who think its sissy girly easy thing. I have only done yang tai chi chuan for 5 months. I learnt ONE move which puts the full bodies balance onto one leg and was sore for 2 weeks. Yet my thigh bones i can feel strengthened by just this one move.
its real.
the move was chen man ching horse riding stance 90 degrees (one leg at 12 o clock and one leg at 3 o clock)
these guys are doing a really beautiful job of moving push hands, with incredibly low stances. You just try to keep that low a stance even for a minute and you will be sore for a week if not used to it. this kind of training if for sensitivity and feeling distance while keeping balance. It is very advanced. How to keep so relaxed while in those low stances? years and years of training. If you can find a teacher and have the patience and commitment, go for it.
I will have to disagree, the greatest strength man have, is determination, if you dedicate yourself, to do a low stance, and put your heart and soul into it, you can easily do 5 mins of stance without being sore for much longer than a day, i think you speak too highly of this video, it is not as hard as you make it sound
What you can see here is a basic exercise in Taijiquan, which is practiced to gain a higher degree of sensibility for the attacker´s movement and to train certain basic "energies" which are used in the applications. That´s basically it.
when you recieve, ride along with the givers power and do not use any energy. Twist your waist!! this is a basic principle that can be lost easily...In ju-jitsu, your uke must strike to hit you. It is not good practice to push around you. I see many people striking with a block....overall I bet you live alot longer in life because of your efforts. good job.
I will give you credit my new friend because you are in advanced stages to move around with pushhands.... when you give, give in the direction of your opponent. If you give to the torso, push to the center of the torso...if resemble downward strike, give to strike in real direction....
I am trained...you preach to the pope.......do you understand me when I say you strike to know where.....and it is not good practice? are you in Japan or china? if in Japan, I can tell you who to see to learn the real deal. also you move your arms alot and not your hips. you fool yourself that you know something you dont...
I am in China,I am a tai chi chuan coach in China, and I have many students.I know tai chi chuan is a very deep knowledge, although I am a tai chi chuan teach,I am learning and studying still now.Tai chi chuan is a internal gongfu, sprite control chi,chi control body to move.chi come from dantian. arm energy should come from dantian, not fron shouder, thank you for you comments.I try my best to do well in the future,.and I hope to see your video, would you mind upload some?
pretty good but not good enough for pajamas.........some moves have lost their authentic meaning........I see strikes thrown to know where. It is not perfect training. Do we really want to recieve strikes that would not hit us? and not good practice to strike around someone and not at them. It is not a good practice to do this.
I will see if I can get my student to come next time we train so we can learn the last part. I will send you a video. Ahh, he knows the applications, don't worry, Wuyingfeng is a very qualified teacher.
